  yes it is focused on the us military.

  this is not about iraq or whether or not you like the usa.

  This is not about indiviudal battles or wars but showing support for the individuals who have chosen to defend and protect their countries

  Why is it so damn hard for people to just NOT RESPOND if they don't happen to agree? I can understand it if a person leaves it open to discussion, asks a question or whatever, but when the originator of a thread explains politely that it is in support of those individuals who are putting their lives on the line....why cannot that be honored?? Sheesh, it ain't rocket science.

  Personally, I'm very proud of my nephew and all of the other men and women throughout the years who have taken up the mantle of responsibility, honor and courage to serve in the military. Doesn't mean I support every decision made by our government but I have no difficulty honoring the people themselves, which is what this thread is all about.

  To everyone who has posted, thank you so much for your kindness and support. I'm sorry that I can't address each individual post right now, as we have to leave to visit the rest of the family, but your words do not go unappreciated.

  ((((((Steve, Joy, and family)))))) Our hearts go out to you. Please know that you are all in our minds and hearts and the kids and I wish that we could be there to give you real hugs.

  out of our lives. My mother-in-law, Jo, passed away yesterday afternoon. She died peacefully in her sleep. We are grateful that she didn't suffer a lingering and painful death but we're still struggling to accept that she's gone and that we won't see her again. I don't know how to say all that is in my mind and heart right now, as the tears are too near the surface. I want to scream and rail at something...god? fate? the universe?..I don't know. I want answers to unanswerable questions but I know they don't exist and so yet again I am faced with having to accept what is unacceptable.

  I do know that this will pass and we will adjust to the loss, it just takes time and meanwhile it helps to vent some of my feelings. I appreciate all of the support that we've received from our friends here; it has meant a great deal.

  I have male friends that I've been buds with for years and it's always been purely platonic. That's not to say that with other relationships, the friendship hasn't turned into something else. However, I don't really think it's necessarily an issue totally related to gender. I've had female friends who turned out to be backstabbers and untrustworthy, just as I've had the same happen with male friends. Relationships are complicated, no question about it. Perhaps the most important thing is being able to be open and honest, regardless of the sex of the friend.

  i admit i have never voted (shame), the last couple of years i have decided to vote but when the time comes i back out.

  i like having the freedom to choose whether to vote or not but i never know who to vote on the day that counts and then i feel uncomfortable at the last minute.. how about you?

  I voted in the last election and felt great about it. There are so many cool things to do now and I think many of us really appreciate the freedoms we have as they were so long denied to us.

  someone left an 8 month old in a van all day..the day care worker forgot the little boy was there and didn't discover him until he went to go pick up kids from school... child found dead in vehicle .

  Hey Vassal,

  That is so unimaginably sad It happened here a couple of weeks ago and unfortunately seems to happen every summer. I just don't understand HOW people can 'forget' about a child, especially as Ang said one who is in their charge for the entire day! You'd think at some point they'd notice they were missing the child

  I accidentally locked my son in the car when he was a baby; I had a two door mustang, put him in his car seat and closed the door so I could go around and put my infant daughter in the other side and just as the door closed, I realized my purse with my keys was sitting in the seat. Talk about panic! I was really freaking out. Looking back now, I can laugh at how crazy I got but it sure wasn't funny at the time. My neighbor came over and he and I were trying to figure out how to break the window without getting glass on the baby when my husband showed up with the other key. Whew! It just doesn't take very long for a closed up vehicle to get dangerously hot in a climate like Florida or Texas and that whole experience left a marked impression on me (I never did that again!).

  Ahhh kisses, when given properly, are wonderful indeed. Robyn, I had a nasty 'first kiss' experience too; it grossed me out and put me off the whole thing for awhile. Best kiss ever? Geez, I think I'm too old to only have one ...two that stand out, though: one was the first kiss with a guy I was madly in love with and had waited a very long time to touch...THAT was an incredible, bitter-sweet kiss. The other was one that occurred totally unexpectedly, but very naturally...slow, soft, and very sweet. The surroundings were rather romantic, as well, although again that wasn't planned. Those are the two I can think of at the moment..LOL.

  Glad to hear that you had such a nice experience and that your dates are reaping the benefits
