LOL @ Mac. Dude, that was funny!

ozziepost's post about what we are all reading now made me wonder what everyone's favorite book is.
my all time favorite is to kill a mockingbird - harper lee.
i also love shogun by james clavell and east of eden by john steinbeck.

okay, so i know it's not pc to be excited about a storm like hurricane frances, but i reckon since i'm stuck with it anyway, i may as well make the most out of it, hey?
we are just now getting the first feeler bands from the storm...the wind is gusting hard, blowing the rain in almost horizontal sheets.
it's so cool!
Mega The hurricane winds. I keep popping outside, it's totally cool to feel it and see the trees bending. But I keep hearing this ominous banging sound coming from somewhere near the roof and I haven't yet figured out what it is...somehow I don't think right now is a good time to be on a ladder

(((((((Ross, Panda, NPY, Wild, Sally, Outnfree)))))) Yeah, things here are a bit wild. The wind woke me EARLY this morning and the power/cable keep flickering on and off, but I'm amazed I still have either of them. There are roughly 2 million people without power right now, but so far, my area hasn't felt the brunt of the storm yet. I spoke with my sister earlier and they're doing okay-very glad not to have another direct hit so soon after Charley.
Joy and Steve are hopefully making preparations as the storm will likely smack through the panhandle after it crosses the state but again hopefully won't have time to strengthen before it gets to them.
Out, have you heard from #2 daughter yet? What a welcome to Florida she's received!
Dana
P.S. Yes, I must admit I'm still enjoying the wind.

Hey Wild, yup, still have power. We've just had some intermittent squalls come through. I'm thrilled I still have electricity coz now I get to watch The Amazing Race and Big Brother...woohoo!
SP may be having worse weather than my area tho as she's closer to the east coast. Hope you're okay, SP.

(((((((((((XW and Seven)))))))) We're being safe, thanks. Good to 'see' both of youze.
BigTex, Please send our hellos and hugs to Jennie. I LOVE storms, especially at the beach...wish it was safe enough to watch this one at the coast.
Wildwoman good to see ya. I would leave if I lived closer to the coast and/or this was a stronger storm but I don't think it's going to get that bad. (fingers crossed here!)

to our friends in florida!
hurricane frances is making it's approach over the bahamas.
it is anticipated to hit the east coast of florida by saturday.
Happy Dad,
That must have been awful for you! My sister is in Port Charlotte and I was sweating it just not hearing from her for a couple of hours...I can't imagine going through 4 days I hope that she'll be okay through this current storm; fortunately, it shouldn't be nearly as bad as what she went through with Charley.
Thanks for the info Uzzah and how ya doin'?

Hey Special K I'll check out that thread, thanks for the info (and the welcome).

Hey Steve Yeah, the kids are excited. Justin was totally bummed that Charley missed us (kids!) so he's looking forward to some wind and rain. He doesn't seem to understand the concept tho of how boring it will be for him if we lose power.
Little witch, you're right about staying off the streets, although it's not bad right now. The storm surge is the most dangerous thing about hurricanes, but I'm far enough inland I don't have to worry. Plus, our side of the coast isn't going to see much surge if the storm continues the way it is predicted to.
Hey Vassal! Thanks

Hey y'all, thanks for the positive thoughts. We're in a lull right now, the rain stopped but the sky looks sooo awesome, with the clouds piled really high and thick.
Little witch, I knew you weren't making light of things, and really, my heart goes out to the people who are in its direct path over on the other coast. I'm sure it will be really frightening for them, not to mention quite destructive.
Mulan, I am expecting to lose power at some point but probably not until later today or tomorrow...we'll see. This storm is HUGE and I am very relieved as well that it's not a category 4. My area will probably experience some major flooding (as will a lot of the rest of the state) but where my house is situated, I should be okay. I'm on a little bit of a rise so the water drains down the street...my poor neighbors!

this week i started having all kinds of computer problems just out of the blue.
i uninstalled the "really cool bionicle (or something like that) wallpaper" my 7 year old grandson installed a few months ago, and that cured the noise the computer was making............kind of a hissing sound.
i also ran the spy detector and found a few things to delete, but it didn't help.
Thanks for the info, Mulan. My son was having major problems on his computer last month and found that restore thingee...now it works great!
Hope you're doing well....
