Roots and geometries in Revelations
by kepler inseveral days ago while driving across town in the car, it came in conversation that the new jerusalem was perfect cube.. also, according to my source, the measure of city's dimension was quite significant of itself.. since beltway traffic was heavy and i was in the midst of exiting to an even more congested side road, i let most of those assertions ride.
but i made a mental note to look up and read the specifics of revelations chapter 21. from previous readings and commentaries, i was already a sceptic about whether john of the gospel was the same author of the epistles and this final book.
if i looked at words and concepts in the gospel and revelations, i am inclined to think that john patmos was a wholly new influence on the course of the overall biblical book: someone accused of a less polished greek, pre-occupied with swords, harlots, the number seven and the the number 12, wings and mouths, codes and symbols for sure.. 21:1 - "then i saw a new heaven and a new earth...".

No, I'm not an expert on these matters, but they do make me lean away from literal interpretations of apocalyptic writings.

What Do You Read?
by minimus inas a jw, i read all the publications and tried to understand all "theocratic" watchtower policy.. i read 3 newspapers a day and rarely read a book or magazine, other than wt.
stuff.. i read the bible a number of times and still find it a good read.. i love to read the internet news as well as the cherished drudge report.. what's your favorite read??.

Recently really enjoyed novels by Ian McEwan, particularly Solar and Sweet tooth.

Could remembering what kept us captive in the WBTS prison help us spring our loved ones?
by Fernando inis it essentially unscriptural fear of death and fear of the big a that keeps wbts/gb followers captive, passive, unthinking, unquestioning and blind?.
is it the unscriptural promises of organisational salvation and baptismal salvation and works salvation that keeps wbts/gb followers on a treadmill to nowhere?.

I don't think it was just fear for myself I think it was being ignorant and naive, not knowing anything about the world. I think my relatives lack education and just general knowledge about the world. It makes a person insular and paranoid. This was how my mother grew up and then she compounded the problem by joining a cult! So how I could help my siblings when they have such a distrust of knowledge, I don't know. See how easy it is for a cult to take people like this and keep them away from the information they need to break free.

Hmm I think I may still be struggling with that one. Think I will stick around and keep trying - I needed JWN when I left in the eighties! I still struggle with people insulting me on here but I will try and grow a thicker skin and learn to say what I think Phizzy. (Sorry can't get this into paragraphs when I use chrome and I can't get on line without chrome today)

I spent ten years pioneering out of love for people and fear that they would die without the 'Truth'. You really are so incredibley arrogant you take my breath away. How on earth you think to motivate anyone to become a Christian with this appalling attitude is beyond me. My eyes are open to religious people like you who think people are a lesser form of life unless we believe exactly what you believe.
