No I did something dangerous, I started reading books. Anything I wanted to read! Remember the 'Creation' book, big red one, that said that there's only a dining table full of fossils? Not true, found a library book with photos of neanderthal skulls. Found a second hand copy of Lucy by Donald Johanson about the discovery of australopithecus. Then found a second hand copy of Astral Projections by Robert Crookall and many others including books by neuropsychologist Peter Fenwick. Read many more but no time now, concluded we have evolved and are still evolving.

Alpha man LOL! Love your Borg cube tower.
I think they are promoting this website to say the paradise is just around the corner because our JW.Org will reach the rest of the world that we haven't preached to yet. Surely Jehovah could have waited for the internet? Couldn't he see the future. All those pioneers wasting their lives, me included. Why did He command we start the preaching work over a hundred years too early, before the world wide web? Unless of course it's just a man-made religion?

Sure it was 5 or 6 million when I left in 1989. Only 7.9 million now. WTF have they been doing in 25 years? Wasting peoples' lives that's what. Don't let them waste yours.

She is very beautiful FTS and looks more Caucasian than Chinese.
Stillin, I often think about that too, sobering and also it puts our worries into perspective. In a hundred years will it really matter?

Do you ever get frustrated and feel dirty after sharing experiences on JWN?
by BucketShopBill init's a giant boil on my butt, thinking how long we all were tricked by a cult.
reading so many of our fellows threads, it help's reinforce we made the correct choice in mentally or physically leaving the watchtower's path to truth, they never had it and nobody can prove they did!
ray franz jr. came to that conclusion, even he had to accept "this is not the best of all relgions, in fact, it's on the bad side!

I just don't want them to have any more of my life and my energy. To remain bitter would take energy and they're not having any more. There are so many ways to screw up your life, I did it being born in a cult and staying until I was thirty. Other people make other terrible mistakes. I am moving on the best I can.

What Happens if...
by bafh inwhat happens if someone returns to the congregation but stays inactive?
.
what happens if someone returns to the congregation and does not meet with the elders to "confess" their sins while away?.

Bafh you say you believe the basics but if Jehovah wants to bring a new system in, great, what's he waiting for? Bring it on! He's supposed to be waiting for the preaching work to be completed but every time a new generation is born there are more people to preach to! Why wait over a hundred years? Plus he can read hearts so why not get on with it!
Why do we need to follow man-made rules that just make our lives so hard if God knows we are good? If the JW web site is the way forward and will get the world ready for the paradise then He started over a hundred years too early. Should have waited for the internet. Can't he predict the future? You see even 'the basics' don't make any sense. Please don't go back, think carefully.

Does consciousness end with the death of the body
by givemejustalittlemoretime inapparently, the carvakas in anceint hinduism were materialists and skeptics, arguing that consciousness ends with the death of the body and that therefore we should take pleasure in this life while we possess it and practice compassion toward others.
they also argued that direct observation is the only certain way to know anything, and thus the existence of supernatural forces and realities cannot be established and must be rejected.

Does consciousness end with the death of the body?
Can I just point out something obvious, how can we possibly know one way or the other?

Why is shunning wrong?
by noonehome inconsider an example i often hear.
youre sitting at a dinner table.
the topic of conversation is regarding your mother.

Noonehome I'm finding your logic a bit shaky and I can't quite follow what you mean. The dedication thing, well I dedicated myself to a fake being at fifteen. You cannot be held to something by law that you agreed to as a minor in any civilized country as I understand it.
However I do agree with this
They keep saying you have to see the big picture. I keep wanting to say that WE ARE the big picture ...we’re only alive for a short period of time and are very lucky to be HERE, TOGETHER, on this TINY speck hurtling through a universe that by a massive margin is designed to kill all living things instantly. We're all alone in this together and it's such a shame to see the immense pettiness that keeps people who love each other very much, completely compartmentalized by their own ignorance.
Exactly, well put! It grieves me that we are born into a family and this is how we have survived and thrived for thousands of years and yet religions try to take that warm, safe place away from us. Goodness knows if the human race will survive doing stupid things like this. Sod the tiger, I wonder if we will become extinct from our own stupidity.
