Ever tried "Dry January"? Join Ms. OM & me for a 30 day liver vacation!
by Open mind inthere are a few things i picked up from watchtowerism that i still find value in.
(although, i could have easily picked them up elsewhere.).
one of these is the 30-day test to abstain from all booze.. .

I did this last January and also gave up chocolate at the same time. I was a bit surprised that a didn't lose a single pound but a good idea to give your liver a rest. -

Good Netflix shows to watch
by Simon inin the long winter nights you need some good tv shows to watch while you wait for the eternity between seasons of game of thrones.. we've watched marco polo (pretty good) and have just started watching orange is the new black which is not at all what i imagined (didn't know it was funny!).
house of cards is on the list too as we've heard good things about that.. anyone have any others that are worth seeing?.

My daughter and I have been watching House all over again but OMG Terry thanks for telling me about The West Wing.
I've been meaning to check if that is on Netflix, brilliant series, very fast pace.

Ah Jupiter and his virgos! As bad as that old rascal Zeus turning himself into a shower of gold in strangers' bedrooms. What about poor old Leda, thought she saw a beautiful, very friendly swan! Naughty Zeus, bad Jupiter. -

'Stop trying to comfort yourself by swallowing religious rubbish. If you really need something to believe in, then believe in your own potential. Put your trust in your own intellect. Stop giving away your power.'
brilliant, I also like,'A more intelligent approach is to consider reality through a variety of different perspectives without trying to force your perceptions into an artificial religious framework.'

When I first signed in on my iPad I ticked the option to let it remember my password which I think is what keeps you signed in. Do you get that option when you sign in on your phone? -

The Noble Fir
by Oubliette inthe noble fir.
the fir tree stands silently in the corner of our living room: proud, erect, strong.
even unadorned, it is beautiful.

Beautifully written Oubliette
This is the last night of my tree, a Norway spruce.
I understand it represents freedom for you and your wife, especially now you keep the blinds open when you switch the tree lights on.
The smell of that tree is the smell of freedom. I envy you as you start on this path. I have grown blasé about my own freedom. Thanks for the reminder.

So memorial partakers are still rising. Is this because people are sick of waiting for a paradise earth and are deciding they want the 'heavenly hope' or more people are going crazy and think god is talking to them? -

Memories. .. share the earliest or most favorite childhood memory
by MissFit inmy daughter tells me that experts say children tend to have false memories.
apparently their brain tends to fill things in that may not be totally accurate.. i refuse to believe that my favorite and comforting memory might not be true.
so here is to fond memories real or not.. the earliest memory i have is being put in a crib at a preschool.

The winter when I was four it snowed on Boxing Day. We ran outside so excited. It was so pretty but we didn't know it would stay for two months and the temperature drop to -19. Went to bed with socks and gloves on, with woolly sweaters over our pyjamas. There was ice on the inside of the windows, no central heating. Winter of 1962 / 1963 - the year the Thames froze over and even the sea for four miles. One day my dad took us to school and the snow was so deep we had to walk behind him stepping in his footprints. That was fun, I remember
