What comforts you when you no longer believe in a ressurrection ?
by EdenOne inour family just lost someone dear and very close, a faithful jw.
as we went through the entire funeral services and meeting long time brothers and sisters, who in general have been very kind and warm towards us, we realize that the hope of resurrection is a meaningless utopia for us, like a fairytale for little children.
we don't have faith in it anymore, and serves us of no comfort.

I am very sorry for your loss. Very similar to freemindfade, I don't have all the answers to life and death and I have reached a contentment with that. What will be will be and all the tears we shed won't change what reality is. Nevertheless the universe is huge and full of mysteries that we are far from solving. I double up with laughter when people talk as if we have cracked reality when we have only just stopped banging the rocks together.
It is a freeing thing to me that I can wait and see. Oh I have my theories and I've read a lot of books but I have always felt when we discover what reality is it will knock our socks off. Looking forward to it, but I can wait. Perhaps it is true that what we do in life echoes in eternity. Or perhaps eternity doesn't give a damn. Either way I'm fine with that.

Perhaps you will find some interesting people who don't spend their lives talking about this boring little cult. Good luck. -

If you are single and have married friends, . . .
by compound complex inis your sense of loneliness (if you are lonely) heightened when you see what they share?
how do cope (if you are coping) with a sense of isolation, of not having a significant other?.
i know some single persons who are very happy as they are.

All of my friends are divorced. A couple of my friends have been married twice. I think they are still looking for the love of their life. I suppose I was lucky that I had a happy marriage, although I have to say marriage is hard work even when you are well suited.
Most of my work colleagues are married but I can't tell if they are happy, they seem to complain about their partners much of the time. Life and marriage aren't perfect are they? Is my loneliness heightened when I see couples? I don't think so, marriage is not easy and I don't particularly envy them.
Personally I just want to keep making more friends, more people to share my real feelings with. That could be because I adored my late husband so I have already met and later lost the love of my life. We always crave that which we have not already experienced don't we?

Oh dear, another Reformation. The Protestant Reformation was about let's get back to what the Bible really said. So these guys want to get back to what Russell really said. What can you say. I dunno, how about let's just use our own brains instead.
Stan - people's popular front of Judea LOL. What have the Romans done for us?

I could leave the COC book with her and the offer of my help, maybe one day she will get curious. I think by me pushing her for an answer now it's making it worse.
You have decided you will marry this lady haven't you Steve? Pushing her for an answer is making what worse? So you can't talk to this woman without her getting upset. Great start to a marriage. We have tried, Sweetie.

Within one minute JW with trolley directs me to JW.org
by steve2 ini live in relatively small seaside community (regional population around 45,000).
in my ten years here, i've had witnesses call on me perhaps twice (not special visits but during door-to-door).
whereas they once canvassed door-to-door much more frequently - and in larger size service groups - there is quite a decline in their door-knocking - at least in this region.. with the advent of the "trolley" work, their visibility has increased - but i'd estimate only marginally.

I think the GB want them to direct people to JW.Borg because they don't want anyone discussing their beliefs the way we had to.
What would they do with the overlapping generations nonsense if they tried to explain when the paradise is coming? Or if someone raised the blood issue what would they answer now?
They can't let people waffle through teachings that are as clear as mud. They would quickly realise how stupid they are for one thing and no one would be converted.
