Drink a large glass of red wine rather than watch it sailing by. Talk to someone who really cares about you. Invite some people around to eat your favourite meal. Greater love hath no woman than this, than to lay fork and knife on behalf of her friends.

Memorial Date this year, why so far out ?
by Phizzy inwe have debated for many a long year on jwn about the "proper" date for the passover/memorial and my conclusion is that jw's get it all wrong for a number of reasons, but as the gospels are contradictory, nobody can say for sure.. most years they are close to the time by a day or so, signalled by the full moon occurring about then.. i believe this year they have chosen saturday april 11th.. this is a full week, near enough, away from the full moon.. what has gone on with their calculation ?.

I'm told they don't go on about the six inch nails anymore. Or the fact that Jesus slowly asphyxiated. How they normally broke victim's legs to speed up the process but he was already dead. It was all horror and agony when I used to go. The talk was horrible too. -

Thank you for your perspective from your law enforcement background Joe. You make some very interesting points. The WTS does act as if they are above the law. I personally agree with you, I think they are in for a shock in the UK. -

Thank you Defender of Truth for that article from the Independent. I missed that. This case was what brought on the Charities Commissions accusation that the WTS has safeguarding issues wasn't it?
I'm sickened at the thought of victims of abuse being questioned by a rapist in a JC without anyone to stand by them. They have no right! I hate this organisation, they are filthy. They deserve everything that's coming to them

I assume if they lose charity status they have to pay Income Tax on money made on property they sell and Stamp Duty Land Tax on property they buy? -

?i married a jw when i was an interested person and studying with the jw's ( not the way they wanted) but i told my wife before marrying her that " most probably " i would never have been a jw.she accepted me as i was and married me.
after that i had interrupted the study for one year, i started all over again with an elder of my wife's cong.

Sounds good Roberto. Your wife is just using the KH like a church and going when she feels like it. She is not being guilted into doing anything else, she doesn't believe all the teachings and your kids are growing up normal as you say. Sounds like a healthy life.
I hope she doesn't suddenly become guilted into doing more, the mind control techniques are very subtle. Good luck to you and your family.

If only it was just a joke. Interesting quote here from the British LIbrary about Victorian Britain
In the upper classes it was assumed that a girl would marry and that therefore she had no need of a formal education, as long as she could look beautiful, entertain her husband’s guests, and produce a reasonable number of children. ‘Accomplishments’ such as playing the piano, singing and flower‐arranging were all‐important. If she could not find a husband she faced a grim future as a 'maiden aunt' whose help could always be called on to look after her aged parents or her siblings’ children. She might even be forced to take on employment as a governess, shut away in the schoolroom with children who had little interest in absorbing the information she was teaching. This became increasingly unattractive to intelligent women. But their future was improved when Queen’s College in Harley Street, London was founded in 1848, to give governesses a recognized and marketable qualification. No ‘accomplishments’ there. Ten more years saw the foundation of Cheltenham Ladies’ College. Other girls’ public schools followed. This increase in female education led to renewed demands for the vote. The National Union of Women’s Suffrage Societies was founded in 1897, hotly denounced by the Queen, who from her position of unimaginable power saw no reason why women should want to vote at all.
