why disfellowshipping is a loving provision.
just by looking at this image we can see how quickly the barrier between the congregation and former member is put up, after the announcement that this sister is no longer one of jehovah's witneses.

I said you were embarrassing yourself when you called reading the meaning of any art work 'screwing up your eyes and using your imagination'. A simple conversation? If you say so. -

Do you think professors of "the academic discipline of art history" give credits to students who see imaginary demons and ape heads in a crap illustration? Really?
What's that got to do with me. I haven't mentioned demons. I don't believe in demons. Please respond to what I actually wrote. -

I did, what did you think I was responding to?
Sigh! OK I'll play but not all evening, I have a low boredom threshold.
I was responding to this, which you actually wrote, believe it or not,
There is no comparison between intellectually analysing the beliefs of a religion and reading meanings into the shapes and shadows in a drawing.
One involves comparing their doctrines with objective evidence about reality. Uncovering lies and deceptions and exposing fallacies. The other involves screwing up your eyes and using your imagination. (Emphasis mine)I am sure professors of the academic discipline of art history would have found that interesting. Then you said,
If you are looking for a dolt who can't appreciate the nuances or art I am not that man.

Iconography, as a branch of art history, studies the identification, description, and the interpretation of the content of images: the subjects depicted, the particular compositions and details used to do so, and other elements that are distinct from artistic style. The word iconography comes from the Greek εἰκών ("image") and γράφειν ("to write"). A secondary meaning (based on a non-standard translation of the Greek and Russian equivalent terms) is the production of religious images, called "icons", in the Byzantine and Orthodox Christian tradition; see Icon. In art history, "an iconography" may also mean a particular depiction of a subject in terms of the content of the image, such as the number of figures used, their placing and gestures. The term is also used in many academic fields other than art history, for example semiotics and media studies, and in general usage, for the content of images, the typical depiction in images of a subject, and related senses. Sometimes distinctions have been made between Iconology and Iconography,[1][2] although the definitions, and so the distinction made, varies. When referring to movies, genres are immediately recognizable through their iconography, motifs that become associated with a specific genre through repetition.[3][need quotation to verify]
Reading a painting is used in university level history because paintings are primary sources. As you often say to people about evolution Cofty, do more reading, you are embarrassing yourself.

Pioneering requires long hours. Sisters tend to wear long skirts as they are easier to climb in and out of vans and cars. You also dont have to wear leg wear (stockings or hose) or have nice legs to wear a long skirt. Heck, you dont even have to shave your legs
Thanks, that's interesting Millie, although I pioneered all day but not in long skirts like the ones I see on the Borg website pictures. Mind you, I didn't have to cover up my legs, if I do say so myself 😄

OrphanCrow mentioned that blue woman's dress has been shortened digitally. When I was in it was normal for women to wear skirts and dresses on the knee. Now having seen the pictures reproduced on here from Watchtowers it seems that JW women now wear clothes almost down to the ground.
In fact that interview with parents who shunned their son showed a woman wearing a dress almost touching the floor. So strange, to me they look like Amish women with such long frumpy dresses. When did this trend start? It looks like they are trying to get JW women to look like nuns and they condemn women in attractive clothes. Suggests the sexism is getting worse, which is hard to believe.

It wasn't just a moment with me it was a build up of things. I couldnt take on board the ransom sacrifice teaching at sixteen. Human sacrifice always revolted me, surely there must be another way.
Being told at an assembly we couldn't study just the Bible with people anymore, it had to be a WTS publication. That rocked me so I asked a friend in another circuit. She treated me like an apostate just for asking her what they said at her assembly!
The treatment of women. An elder took an instant dislike to me. At meetings for FS he used to ignore me when asking for comments and giving out territory as if I was invisible. My husband, following Matthew 18, went to see him so many times and talked to him about it but he just let my husband buy him drinks and said it was a misunderstanding, then he carried on doing it. Finally my husband invited him to our home so he could confront me. He looked me in the face and said 'I swear in the the name of Jehovah I have nothing against you'. I remember going cold because I knew he hated me but he said that before God. When my husband went in the kitchen to make coffee he was vile to me again. We knew then most of the elders were liars and hypocrites. My husband already knew from sitting in elders meetings how they talked about the congregation and dismissed people who were in need.
It was 1989 and the Berlin Wall was coming down. All the papers were full of the news and they kept saying the words 'peace and security'. That was supposed to be the sign the big A was near but when we excitedly told the congregation what the papers were saying nobody cared. We started to realise it was all a sham. We DA'd that year.

Do you consider this site Godly or Ungodly
by Truthexplorer inover the years, i have seen a change in heart with the country i grew up in and the general view of what they perceive as how everyone should view things in relation to morality.
a strictly religious country for centuries now forever changed within a short number of years.
i have also seen the viewpoint on this site gradually change in many ways.

Truthexplorer you really need to grow up and see the world realistically. Stop seeing it as just a mass of people but rather as individuals struggling to survive and be happy. There are some evil people who are hurting others we can't deny that. The vast majority of people are busy caring for their families and many still find time to send money to strangers to help them work their way out of the poverty they were born into or to give aid when there are terrible disasters.
If by liberalism and lack of morality you are talking about people being allowed to live with the person they love without being beaten, imprissoned or subjected to chemical castration then thank goodness the world is growing up and understanding that we are not all the same.
Nobody is coming to help us. At the risk of sounding cliche, we are the people we have been waiting for. We need to work out how we as an individual, as families, as nations and as corporations we can make a better world. Grow up and stop sucking on that teat of comforting religious promises, look around at this beautiful, terrifying world, learn to live in it and work out how you can help.

Why did Jesus come to earth? Invite to a DC
by Simon ini just had an invite to a district convention later this month in calgary (i guess they get to clean up the saddledome before the stampede, lol).. they gave me a leaflet asking "why did jesus come to earth?
" so i asked them "so why did he come?".
"well, he came to save us".

Apparently the DC is all about Jesus, his life and has interviews and demonstrations that will feature practical ways to imitate Jesus today.
Practical ways to imitate Jesus? Serve yourself up as a sacrifice, your whole life, particularly your money. BTDTGTTS.
