DY have you been fading for thirteen years and you still have the fear something terrible will happen if you leave and that fear 'mortifies you every day'? May I reprectfully suggest you need professional help? This has gone on too long. Take care. -

really hit home how demented people have become
There have always been psychopaths I'm afraid. At least we have more protection in the west because of the criminal justice system.
seems to me that we live in an artificial, superficial world waiting for something to happen.Just my thoughts.
Your thoughts are valid atomant. Sometimes the superficiality of life gets me down too. At least we have the leisure now to be superficial and do not spend 24/7 working until we drop dead before we're 40. They call it the pendulum swing. Rich societies like ours move from poverty and hunger to abundance and worrying how many bathrooms we should have or when we should get a larger TV.
Usually, eventually the pendulum starts to swing back as less shallow people being to realise that materialism is boring and being manipulated into becoming a victim of consumerism is not for them. Concerns for the environment and people less fortunate then start to arise. It's happening, just give it time.

Where do I start telling a psychologist about the mental trauma I feel as a fading jw?
by Simple Minds ini am on a pension, so i could not afford to pay for a psychologist, but my good doctor referred me to a free clinic for people on a low income, for my anxiety and depression, so i have finally got my first appointment with a psychologist since i started my fade, so where do i start trying to explain the mental trauma i feel as a fading jw?
i would appreciate your advice.

Emphasise that you have been in a high control cult and not just a religion otherwise they might think this is about loss of faith. Explain that every aspect of your life was controlled from what you wear, how you have your hair, where you can work, to medical treatment, to how you raise your kids, to holidays, to education and even your sex life.
That your obedience was policed and even reproved under threat of disfellowshipping. That you were not allowed to deviate from the doctrine one iota and a casual conversation with a fellow believer about a single doubt could land you in front of a JC. Hope that helps.

There's still a lot of suffering even though huge advances in democracy, agriculture, medicine, technology etc have been made. Life is so much better now for huge amounts of the world's population. But not everyone is enjoying the prosperity and progress. There are still a hell of a lot of corrupt governments greedily fleecing their countries. Not to mention greedy multinationals manufacturing things that we don't need and then indoctrinating us with advertising to believe we can't be happy without them. You have to keep your eyes open and not be decieved by people who want to take advantage of you. The world is full of users.
There are also many good people trying to help others and giving some of their hard-earned to people they will never meet. Lots of people work quietly doing good. Whether it's looking after an elderly relative or giving millions to charity. What we see around us is all part of life's rich tapestry. We are far from living in a civilised world, there is still a long way to go.

Leaked Elder's Video: How to deal with a suicidal sister
by cappytan inthis video will be played at one of the clam meetings in march 2016.. the content is kind of old news because it is a recut version of a previous video produced for the elder's school.
however, it's still significant because it shows that the organization still has dissenting brothers in positions of leadership.. my thanks to the leaker.
feel free to claim credit here.

'Wild irrational thoughts'! Wanting to die is perfectly normal when your husband dies which these idiots would know if they had any training at all in therapy. But of course they don't so why the hell are they doing it! Telling her to chant what was it 'I AM AN INTEGRITY KEEPER' over and over when she felt suicidal. Jesus H Christ. Is that it? Then they compare suicidal thoughts with immoral thoughts. Just dismiss them from your mind and read the Psalms! I couldn't take more than eight minutes of that.
She said she was tired out. She said she'd had problems with the house. Why didn't they listen. When your husband dies the paperwork and financial issues seem endless. Some women lose their homes. Add to that children that not only need caring for but also need help to get through the grief of losing their father. After a year of that I was exhausted. What she really needs, apart from professional counselling, is a rest from meetings, FS and all the other stuff they demand you do no matter how you feel. How about some practical help maintaining her home or garden?

Elder: 'we should take the positive side of (sexual abuse of children) rather than being negative about one or two points that make us think this is not Jehovah's organisation'.
Elder: 'you haven't told us anything we don't already know about'
Elder: (never mind that) 'who's using Jehovah's name?'

Finally posting and I'm FRUSTRATED!!!
by stephanie61092 inokay, i'm about to engage in a major word vomit.
just giving you fair warning as your time may be better spent somewhere else.. so, i'm sitting on my lunch break, bawling my eyes out, and writing on this forum to people i don't know yet probably have a great deal in common with but at the same time, used to scare the daylights out of me.
for years, i would come across this forum and 'lurk' awhile if you will, or see things on youtube.

Hi Stephanie. I'm so sorry you lost the child you were carrying and JWs said such heartless things about your pain. Please don't blow your brains out. You most certainly can have a normal life and going on what you say about your parents there is hope for a relationship with them too. They've got their heads screwed on. Just slow down and let yourself cope with the shock of finding out it's a cult before you decide what to do next. Good to have you here. -

Evolution is a Fact #18 - Fish Fingers
by cofty init is an amazing intermediate form between fish and land animals complete with both lungs and gills as well as ribs, a jaw, a flat head and teeth.
crucially it displayed the beginnings of leg bones that are common to all modern tetrapods.
it had a humerus, radius, ulna and wrist bones but also retained the fin-ray bones of it's fish ancestors.. tiktaalik is just one of many fossils that display the journey of our ancestors from the sea to life on dry land.

Thanks Cofty for the vid about Jenny Clack and the first tetrapods, the aquatic development of limbs. Absolutely fascinating. Her mind is very clear and she explains everything in a no nonsense way, without ego but with the pure joy of scientific discovery. The first women in her field to be accepted into the Royal Society! Well deserved.
