Some thoughts on guilt.
by New day inhad an interesting conversation with my wife recently.
she struggles with physical, emotional and psychological problems which have often caused her to miss meetings.
she mentioned how she is equally tortured by guilt if she misses meetings and ministry, and severe stress if she does them.

New Day, SSRI meds take about three weeks to start working. They help the serotonin build up in the brain. If she is severely depleted it will take time. I am so sorry for you both, I had it for five years. Rest and taking care of herself will help. A good diet, fresh air, exercise, stress reduction and sleep. The problem is the chemical imbalance will make her feel that she is not worthy of taking care of herself, she needs to realise her brain is working against her. My heart goes out to you both. -

Did you participate in a Drama?
by Hecce ini am bringing this up because even it was a lot of work, for the majority of the friends this was a rewarding experience.
camaraderie, joking, costumes, props and when the time came the celebrity status of being in the drama.. back in the 50s and 60s, conventions could be as long as 8 days and from about 1966 the dramas became an integral part of the program.
we had one per day and the brothers looked forward to their presentation.

Yes I was in a drama. A modern day one at a football ground in front of 10,000. Lots of rehearsals. -

Guilt can be a sign of clinical depression. It's a common symptom of low serotonin. The chemical imbalance comes first, you feel guilty and then your brain looks for reasons why you are feeling guilt. Prolonged stress depletes the body of serotonin. Rest and reducing stress will help if that's what's happening to your wife. -

The restaurant at the end of the universe
by Xanthippe ini sat outside at a cafe with my cappuccino for the first time today.
the sky was blue, the birds were singing, i could hear a woodpecker in the tall trees.
i closed my eyes and felt the sun on my face for the first time in months and i thought, i could sit here until the end of time.

Yes, the motto here is if you don't like the weather, wait a minute, it will change.
I thought that was only life in England, SafeAtHome.
Today it is high of 42
Well 42 is the answer to life, the universe and everything. 😀

So what came between the '1914 generation will see the new system' doctrine which finished in 1995 and the indefinite overlapping generations rolled out in 2010? -

Easter, the memorial ... is there any worthwhile message for secularists?
by Ruby456 inan innocent man killed in the most awful manner replayed countless time all over the world has desire for justice writ large all it.
is this something that secularists can take from a religious event.

What about all the other innocent people the Romans crucified? What is the significance of that, apart from a dominant power striking fear into all dissenters, or anyone who got their attention.

Mica I understand that this teaching came out in 1994, eighty years after 1914 so I presume they had to do something because the Bible says our years are 70 or if we have special mightiness eighty, NWT. So obviously they had to come up with something quick when it got to 1994.
That's how they came up with it.
Does anyone know how persons in the organization accepted this new light when it was released?
Yeah my brother happened to phone me in '94 because he had heard I was pregnant. I asked him about the generation teaching as it was eighty years since 1914 and he said 'we're not serving Jehovah to a date'.
So that's how they accepted it, well the ones who even noticed it.
I had been out five years so didn't know about it. If he had tried to explain that to me I can tell you I would have laughed my head off as I did when I first heard about it here on this forum.

I finally understood the final hurdle...
by The Rebel inwell the "pious" elders tuned out to be " super pious" and very good at reciting from the " very super pious" elders manuel, but actually " super pious" elders are quite harmless when ignored.. as for my former friends in the congregation, well throughout the ages there have always been people prepared to stand up for truth and friendship, sadly my " former" friends from the congregation proved not to be people of such noble character, instead only capable of giving short contrived speeches about why they missed me at meetings, snooze, and no great loss, as i have found the community outside the w.t organisation positively buzzing with unconditional friendship.. anyway i feel i have overcome all hurdles in my exit from the " w.t" except one, which is how i deal with my disrespectful father.
even when i was a witness in good standing, he had a pretty disrespectful and rude word power, now it's completely inappropriate.
i have tried pointing this out, even had long periods without contact, but i don't like doing that as it denies my mum seeing her grandson.. however what i have concluded is that this isn't w.t at fault.

Yes even when I was pioneering and doing all the stuff my mother wanted me to, I was never good enough for her. Some people are just bad parents, that's it. Now my life is much simpler. It's cause and effect. If people treat me badly, I stay away.
Of the few family members left, I arrange to meet pleasant relatives on their own away from obnoxious ones. Life's too short to be verbally abused by people who should love you.
