Good grief you have Christian music at your doctors and the thrift store? What a weird country. Yes Christian stuff does make me feel ill now, I get you. I'm interested in brain plasticity too and also in the ability to switch on dormant genes. Very interesting.

A disturbing reaction.
by longgone inearlier today i was listening to a you tube video about brain plasticity, how our minds aren't hardwired, and that by changing the way we think it can make actual physical changes in the brain.
which is cool for many reasons.
one in particular for me and likely any ex jw is that the way the wts has programmed us, especially those born in, can eventually get past it.

Instructions to remove old WT information from kh libraries
by Half banana ina pimo friend (physically in mentally out) has just informed me that the cult has decided that they want to suppress all old jw org information by removing bound volumes etc from kh libraries.. in reality, all through their history they have claimed divine "new light" as a means of changing uncomfortable doctrines.
this however would mean that new jws, or more likely these days young jws, will be prevented from seeing the old light which had been held up as divinely inspired truth in the past.. truth which would get you through big a and which if you didn't agree with would get you disfellowshipped.. anyone else heard of this?
what might be the reasons (if true) for removing the old wts?.

Care should be taken not to discard items that have historical significance. The branch may want to add such items to its library or to its archive of historical material.
So I take it that as a gentle reminder has to be taken as a command from the GB, this means don't let any R+F take an old book home, make sure they are sent to the branch. They don't want any 'old light' getting out. Remember many new converts and newly adult born-ins know nothing about the 1914, one generation to paradise prophecies.

Spirit directed vs inspired
by Jules Saturn ini've always been confused as to what the discrepancy is between the phrases "spirit directed/spirit led" and "inspired".
in the february 2017 watchtower study article, paragraph 12 says:.
12 the governing body is neither inspired nor infallible.

An inspired utterance is we need more money or volunteers to build an assembly hall. Spirit directed is when they get the dates for the end of the system wrong.
I hate that whenever you try to explain this to someone, they look at you as if you have the issue
Thats what happened to me Jules when I was a young person in that religion. I used to ask everyone how they understood the ransom sacrifice teaching. A man being tortured to death for us always seemed wrong to me. They used to look at me as if I was stupid or mad.

When I was in Rome I ordered a salad for lunch and the waiter asked if I would like some garlic pizza bread with it. When it came it was obviously freshly made dough, piping hot and absolutely the best garlic pizza I've ever had in my life.

What are your beliefs now, religious/non religious?
by Jules Saturn inwhat are your convictions now that you are no longer one of jehovah's witnesses?
are you a born again christian?
have you joined another denomination of christianity?

Imagine if someone could prove with science and mathematics that they can talk to the dead. That'd be the greatest scientific discovery ever. We could use it to solve crimes, answer questions and advance humanity. But no... "mediums" dont do that. They just charge you £70 to tell you they're getting the name "John" or "Joe" or "Jodie?".
PE, the police forces of many countries consult mediums and psychics to solve crimes. It doesn't matter what you personally believe about their abilities or lack of them but what you say here is lacking the facts. The police just don't advertise it.

Do yo find any questions you had about life finally answered with your new beliefs?
I don't think there's a loving God for the same reasons Darwin doubted, looking at Ichneumondae (sp?) parasitic infections that blind and kill, bone cancer in children, mutations causing sick babies, dementia and so on.
Your question above though I have problems with. When we decide something has finally answered our questions and we stop questioning we are in trouble. Keep wondering what it's all about, don't ever stop. It's a huge universe.

Lessons learned from the wife of lot drama
by purrpurr inthe video drama shown at the recent comvention was called "the wife of lot".
i noticed some stuble lessons being taught in this soap opera style video.... firstly, all the bad influence comes from women, its the wife and the mother in law whose pushing for more money and a better lifestyle.
while the men remain loyal to god, can't show the men going astray now can we?.

Sounds like you had a great chat Jules! Finding family again is comforting. Imagine how it must have cheered your cousin up.

1975 - JWs in other countries, not just the U.S. also knew about the prediction
by deegee ini have been wondering, if the 1975 prediction was just a rumour started by the rank & file as the wt claims, then how did jws in other countries, a part from the u.s., also come to know about the prediction?.
i started studying with the jws during the 80s when i was a child.
while attending one of my first meetings during that time, a brother commented during the wt study that armageddon did not come in 1975 because it was not known how many years after adam, eve was created.. at the time, i hadn't a clue what the guy was talking about.

A lot of the instructions on how to live as a JW is verbal, convention talks, CO and DO talks with the net result that the rank and file do what the GB want, sell homes, pioneer, give loads of money to the Borg and later they can step back and say we never said that.
