  wt on education..

  i have just watched the glass smashing on the wt video on education.. please consider these experiences from the opposite side of that "coin".. i have heard young ones say out-loud on the mike in the kh that "jehovah is my special friend.."these ones who were at the top of the wt 'tree' pioneering, putting in the hours etc but, it followed that soon saying that pivotal statement they dropped their pioneering, faded, picked up the girl/boyfriend and suffered being dfd.. so where did their wt "education" leave them?

  it left them as young adults naive to the world, unskilled, with no qualification to offer any employer and having to replace their former family/associates/friends with new ones.. ( dont get me going on shunning) in some cases with little success as we have read here where they moon about for months or longer unable to emotionally heal after the leaving or df'ing and also others with such a turn around they would never have believed it possible... there was a wt that related how a brother (!

  ) followed an interest in history and left the truth.

  I started reading history when still in. Then after leaving I had only completed my first year of a distance learning degree when I got a temporary job on the strength of my studies, in a technical library working with scientists. After that I had a baby then went back to work when she started school. The reference I got from that first job when I started my degree got me the job I still have now! Education is valuable.

  My Dead Mother Called Me This Morning!

  i woke up a little after 5 am this morning and looked at the clock and realized i had more time to sleep so i fell right back asleep.

  i had this dream that i was letting my girlfriends dog out of her house and the next scene i was at work and i got a phone call.

  the room i was in simply had a table and phone it was very bare.

  Unsung Movie Villains

  we all know the big movie villains get a lot of credit and appear in multiple movies - the shark in jaws, darth vader, and before them dracula, wolfman, frankenstein's monster, etc.. but there must be plenty of villains that get forgotten.. i thought clarence boddicker (played by kurtwood smith) was fantastic in robocop (1987) - a real psychopath.. another character who springs to mind is vilos cohaagen (ronny cox) in total recall (1990), i thought he was very good too.. obviously these and other movie villains do get some critical acclaim but they don't get their own franchise and they rarely get universal praise.. maybe 'unsung movie villains' is the wrong phrase but hopefully you get what i'm trying to say!

  Uneducated, untrained men lacking in empathy. What a dreadful combination.

  Steve2 I wanted to say your post is spot on. These uneducated men have been placed in positions of authority over people's lives and think they have the ability to counsel emotionally suffering people. Plus any natural empathy has been systematically squeezed out of them by WTS teachings. Horrible combination indeed.

  Just such a sad story, the fact only one family member will speak to him now. He was an elder who probably cared a lot about those suffering ones in the congregation having experienced mental health problems himself.

  I suspect he put the other elders to shame with his genuine concern for others and they wanted him out. When he confessed to having a drink problem I guess it was a gift to them, the chance to burn him they'd been looking for.

  just lately i've become weary of following recipes in books or online.

  recently when on holiday in the lake district i wanted to make pasta with a tomato and cheese sauce but the only interesting cheese they had at the local store was a somerset brie.

  i discovered when peeled of its skin and tossed in with tomatoes and pasta it melts beautifully and tasted amazing.

  Sail Away, yes I tend to go online these days and look up two or three recipes for something I want to make and then I mix and match. I love Greek food too, the Greek islands are a favourite destination of mine. Your seafood risotto sounds delicious. I remember making a French apple tart years ago and it was amazing but did seem to take hours. I hope you have a wonderful foodie trip to Spain and Portugal.

  LUHE, thanks for the YouTube. I remember making stuffed vine leaves, dozens of them with a Greek woman for her daughter's wedding. She kept telling me I was doing it all wrong!

  I had this soup in a restaurant a couple of weeks ago. Roasted tomato, red pepper and carrot. Decided to make it myself but added roasted garlic to give it zing, plus tomato purée and a teaspoonful of sugar. Have to say it's delicious. What soup do you make?
