Well you have to hope the married couples in Bethel don't live like monks and nuns.
former governing body assistant howie tran has shared his bethel vow of poverty contract.
it reads rather culty.
i think clause number 9 is particularly worrying...to adhere to, not the bible alone, but also the watchtower literature and the governing body.

It's worded as if they are in a monastic order! Why?
in my studies i’ve come to realize that most dying and rising gods such as inanna, jesus and others all were dead three days and nights.
the moon is dead as far as man not being able to see it in the sky three days and nights but many of these gods are not associated with the moon, osiris maybe being the only exception.
have any of you in your research come up with a plausible idea on why there all dead just threes days and three nights?.

Yes I seem to remember the Hindu god Krishna has a lot of similarities with Jesus but I don't know the significance of the three days.
i consider myself an atheist, i completely reject the idea of a totalitarian desert god/any god and the bible is a book of fairytales and folk legends.. i do however sort of believe that this life is not all there is.
i’m not talking about heaven or hell but in a tangible state of being.. there are a few experiences i’ve had in my llife.
could be imagined could be real.
God and the afterlife. Do you need to believe in both
There are many atheists like myself who believe in an afterlife. I found the first clue in a second-hand bookshop about thirty years ago. Since then I've read many books about near death experiences, people from all walks of life reporting them, many without any religious belief.
Of course the evidence is anecdotal rather than empirical. Scientists can't try killing people and reviving them! The lack of oxygen to the brain causing hallucinations explanation doesn't stack up. Low oxygen, for example causing altitude sickness, results in confusion and little memory of what happened. NDE experiences are crystal clear and people remember them for decades.
The ones that report conversations, their hospital surroundings or what relatives were doing miles away while they were being revived are the most interesting of course.
... they've accepted me!
finance is already sorted - they're waiting for me to give them my new student number so that they can start paying me.
just need to formally accept bristol's offer and sort out accommodation.. accommodation should be ok - i've been told priority is given to new students, plus i'm enrolling onto a program for a real degree as a postgraduate - i won't be studying gender studies or some crap like that.
Have a great time LUHE!
i personally have a very distinct sense of style and fashion which many of the fellow jdubs frown upon.
recently, i was told by a few specially self righteous ones that i looked like a prostitute in a pair of white boots!
a pair of 3 inch heeled, just a little taller than the ankle boots, with skirt that came down to my knees and a black long sleeve shirt that came up to my collarbone.
Minolta Copiers! You devil you Freddo!

Yeah snugglebunny, it turns out those long dresses and open fires didn't go together too well. Many women servants in the 'big' house went up in flames tending the fire wearing a floor length dress. So grateful for jeans now.
I remember a ms kept looking at me reproachfully in my own house because I was wearing a v-neck tee shirt reavealing my neck and about three inches of chest, no cleavage. Kept giving me dirty looks. Crazy people.
the financial times had an article with the above question.
the author asked various people to answer the question.. https://www.ft.com/content/169705e4-b4dd-11e8-b3ef-799c8613f4a1.
while i was not interviewed, if i was asked this question i would say that i wish i had known in 1975, when i was 18, that i was raised in a cult and that the continued focus on armageddon over my lifetime was a cruel joke.
I wish I'd known that we live in the most peaceful, politically secure and financially rich time in human history. That I could have earnt enough through education and a half decent job to have pursued painting and travelled the world from a young age.
People are always going on about how bad the world is, obviously it was a big part of my upbringing too, but never before in history could an ordinary person, without huge wealth or nobility actually decide what to do with their life. I wish I'd known that.
well,to all who had wished me good health before i went for my procedure, thank you.
9/14 pacemaker was inserted below my collarbone successfully.check up will be 9/18.. so, since 2012 when i was 67,i had open heart surgery to replace my aortic valve with a bovine tissue valve.
now at 73, i have an implanted pacemaker with two leads, one for the upper chamber, right atrium and one for the lower right chamber, ventricle of the heart.. so, my heart beats should now be steady and not in and out of afib.. both of my brothers died of heart attacks.
That's great news Blueblades! Rest up and recover, it sounds like you're doing well.

Taxpayers are to be asked to help fund a £20bn a year injection of extra cash into the National Health Service by 2023-24 that will pay for thousands more doctors and nurses,
Yes I remember this back in June. Taxpayers will be asked to fund extra cash into the NHS?? I also remember the electorate's reaction. What, hang on, this money for the NHS is coming out of leaving the EU surely? Not out of our pockets!
Don't quote the Guardian in one of LUHE's threads, he hates it you know.
