Welcome HBF I understand your desire to make a normal life for your children. I hope if you have a birthday party for your son your husband might join in or at least be okay with it. It will take time so just enjoy life with your children and let him do whatever he wants.

The awful treatment of my disfellowshipped cousin still continues
by RULES & REGULATIONS inmy cousin was disfellowshipped twenty years ago when he was 18 years old.
he admitted to the congregation elders that he was fornicating with his ''wordly'' girlfriend.
the elders were following him and hiding in their cars to see what he was up to.

My cousin's dad just sent him a baby gift with a card. He only addressed the card to my cousin's wife and granddaughter. For some stupid reason, he can't even write his son's name on the card to congratulate.
Why do they make a difference between relatives that have left the JWs and those that have never been JWs? Mine do the same, obviously because they want to punish your cousin for daring to be different. Act of love, who are they trying to kid!
They seem a very fanatical, controlling family. You and your cousin did well to leave. It's very hurtful but all I can say is you are well rid of these toxic people.

We had an email at work some years ago saying deodorant and perfume can set of some peoples' asthma so to be careful about wearing it.
I asked my manager if that meant we couldn't wear deodorant anymore because believe me it's bad enough when some of our library users, the great unwashed, don't wear it.
She said no it doesn't mean that, as if I was being difficult. Still no idea what we were meant to do about it!

I'm sorry for your cousin, that treatment is disgusting. Of course his family shouldn't see his baby without him, how dare they ask!
You ask how long disfellowshipped people can be treated like this. I d'aed thirty years ago last week and I'm still shunned by my siblings. They didn't see my daughter until she was nine and only then because it was our mother's funeral. It's an evil cult!

On The Art Of Fading
by expatbrit inin october of 2000, i faded away from the watchtower.
like most people, i have family and friends who are jw's (including my wife and parents).
fading is generally the best method for people in that situation.

Excellent suggestions here on fading or even for building a new life however you left.
In time, I'm hopeful that my family will start to think for themselves, but I will not force the issue, because to do so will lead to slamming doors.
I wonder if Expatbrit is still around and if his wife eventually left?

OK, We Need To Talk About The Crazy New Great Tribulation Video...
by pale.emperor inif you haven't seen it already, skip to 1:14:30 in lloyds video and watch the craziness unfold.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v2y7f7-k5wo.
i'd love to hear everyone's thoughts on this.. they're digging themselves a great hole here, in about 30 years time they'll be claiming this video was a mere "speculation" and that "some people" got the wrong ideas..

Seeing someone rambling on about wild beasts, Babylon the Great and Gog of Magog I now think, mad as a box of frogs.

Thanks for this Hecce. There are so many stories on Facebook of people rescuing animals in trouble, I'm amazed the lengths some go to to help them. Good people.

Nudity in the movie "Roma"
by Wonderment inin the movie "roma," a man is shown making some martial type moves with a sword totally naked.
and the scene is not so brief, giving a clear glimpse of his private parts.
it is a very graphic scene.

What is Racially Derogatory Language
by barry inhere is australia the race commissioner has claimed senator o'sullivan is in violation of racially derogatory language.
senator sullivan has said the biggest threat to biosecurity is ' some bloody old chinaman that brings in his favourite sausage down the front of his undies' chin tan said using the word chinaman is offensive.
makes you wonder is englishman or australian man or scotsman is also just as offensive.

We have many races in my city but it's getting awkward to describe someone these days. I often want to say at work when I don't know someone's name, oh that Indian lady or the Asian man.
Sometimes I've described someone like that and the person I'm talking to looks shocked and changes it to, oh you mean the tall man or the lady who always... whatever. When something as obvious as race identifies someone it seems insane not to use it to describe them.
I was on a bible study years ago and someone knocked at the door so I looked out the window as I was nearest and the lady of the house said, who is it, black or white? I guess to her black probably meant a relative. What's wrong with that?

Favourite New Film
by jhine inl recently went to watch green book , which l thought was excellent , it had everything , it took me though the whole range of emotions , from anger to joy , laughing then wanting to cry .
the quiet dignity of dr shirley mixed with volatile nature of tony lipp and seeing their emerging friendship was wonderful .
what really shook me was that these attitudes existed in my lifetime , not that long ago .

Well Green Book won the Oscar Jan so a lot of people agreed with you. Olivia Coleman got best actress even though the film wasn't brilliant. I'm glad, she's done a lot of good work like Broadchurch and The Night Manager, it's about time she had some recognition.
