I spoke up today
by hoser inthe fire was burning within me to say something so i mustered up the courage and did it.. .
we were for lunch after the meeting sitting at the same table as a pioneer sister, her unbaptized publisher bible study, and the bible study's teenage son.
the pioneer was telling the unbaptised publisher about how no one from sodom and gomorrah would get a resurrection because they were killed directly by god's judgment.. this is where i had heard enough.

Oldest Temple in Turkey
by Satanus ingobekli tepe, an archeological dig in turkey, not far from the syrian border.
it has been unearthed seriously, since 1994 by german archeologists.
it is a site that predates stonehenge by 6000 yrs, and the pyramids by 7000yrs, they say.

Thanks Satanus that's really interesting. Learning by observation and experimentation. Sound familiar? We've been doing it a long time.

Rumor of new light on the headquarters of the WT
by wolfman85 ini read in a forum in spanish that there is a strong rumor spreading in the corridors of the wt.
has anyone heard anything about this??
the change that is emerging is this: the great crowd has not yet appeared, and it is a group that comes out of the great tribulation.

I remember the farse about whether we went out in the ministry or field service. That went back and forth for years.
Then there were back-calls that became return visits. Vacation pioneering became auxillary pioneering and I think it's temporary pioneering now, isn't it ?
Congregation overseers and servants that became elders and ministerial servants. Circuit and District Servants that became Circuit and District Overseers.
Changing the name of something to make you believe you are in a progressive organization. Progressing where? To an early death from exhaustion and stress.
I find I can't stand it when the organization that I work for now very occasionally changes the name of something. It brings it all back. Utter nonsense.

Is the Truth so delicate?
by Socrateswannabe inthe gb brooks no questions or dissention.
their brand of truth seems quite delicate and incapable of standing up to scrutiny.
"the truth is incontrovertible.

Xanthippe
Depends what you mean by truth.
Three RTA or crime witnesses may give three different versions of the truth.
Using leeches to bleed someone with a fever was a true medical practice from the ancient Greeks to about 150 years ago.
The sun orbited the earth until Galileo and Copernicus taught us this truth was wrong.
Many of the things science is teaching us as truth now will be proved false in the next century if not before.
There is no such thing as eternal truth, you can only have that if you believe in a God who knows everthing. So why shouldn't he tell us the truth straight away? Why would he play guessing games?

Why did you pick the name you have now
by label licker injust wondering if your name describes what you saw, how you were treated when you were "in" or now "out", maybe your personality, ect.... i'm label licker and the why i picked this name was because of all the licking up one side of elders and down the other to either be an elder or ministerial servant.
one time i was standing right in front of this brother who wasn't made an ms yet and he totally ignored me and talked right over my head speaking really loud trying to catch the co's attention.. got sick of watching the poor elderly sitting all alone or standing against the wall like a wall flower with noone to talk to and yet all these label lickers would take turns picking up the elders elderly parents and take them shopping and do their groceries at least four times a week while out in service, yet, there was noone there to take a meal to a sister who just got out of the hospital with a heart attack.
when i had shown up at her apartment with a meal she asked if i could wash her private and change her bandages.

Xanthippe was the wife of Socrates. I have a particular affection for Plato because he was the first 'worldly' writer I discovered who asked questions like,
Is there a God or gods?
What does it mean to be a good person?
Is there life after death?
Will we ever have good government?
When I read about his dialogues I wondered if they were available in English. I was so ignorant. Poor young girl that I was. I found them in the library and I thought he sounded like the apostle Paul at first. So the question was how can someone who didn't believe in Jehovah have such great ideas? He started me down the road to finding out TTATT.

Do the "friends" tend to project their views onto others?
by magotan in"those worldy people are so lost" - utterence of any sort of familial hardship; divorce, ect.. .
(df'ed person is seen in a public setting) "they look so sad, they don't have jehovah's blessing".
how do you know if they're sad or not?

'like i was really just this worldly guy who just wanted to do the minimal so that my ass was saved on judgement day.' - CptKirk
Yes there is so much cynicism about other's motives, but I thought they believed in a God who could read hearts? Sometimes I wonder if half of them believe in God at all.
