Xanthippe - yes I should have made it clearer in my original post. I was not even thinking of the former Princess Diana of England.

Children of murdered Charleston minister have "already forgiven" their Mother's killer.
by nicolaou ini'm not judging these poor young people, if this is how they are coping with the trauma of losing their mum i can only wish them well.
i have to admit though that my jaw dropped when i first saw this interview, i couldn't square their reaction with what i understand as 'normal' human grief.. is this religiously motivated form of forgiveness a positive thing?
should i acknowledge this as something to be said in favour of religion?.

Nic I agree with those that say let's cut these people some slack because they are overwhelmed with grief at the moment and are falling back on their belief systems for comfort.
Having buried my parents and husband I have experienced something I really can't describe properly. When my mother died, we drove away from the hospital at dawn on a gorgeous May morning. The scenery looked so bright and the world seemed so beautiful, rabbits, pheasant everywhere and even a fox crossed the road. I remember thinking what a beautiful day. When my husband died something similar happened, I felt such love for everyone involved and I wanted to comfort them.
Yes it is probably caused by a brain chemistry change brought on by shock and grief that has survival value but there is something about acute grief that makes you feel what life is all about in those few days afterward. It makes everything so real, everything so poignant, relationships so important. Death makes everything else seem trivial.
So I agree it seems weird to say you forgive someone who has murdered your loved one and I feel sure I wouldn't feel that but what grief does to your brain chemistry plus their belief system might explain it.
As regards forgiveness, I don't understand the concept of forgiveness in the religious sense. I think we have long memories for things that hurt us because that's how successful species survive. We remember the things that cause pain, physically and emotionally. Is the grief reaction of these people normal? Probably, within their belief system.
Perhaps forgiveness has been the best we could come up with to help ourselves psychologically thus far in our development as a species. Now we understand the brain and the mind much more I don't think we need to necessarily forgive to recover from trauma and move on, there is therapy and more out there to help us.

What is their position on IVF?
by voodoo lady infor example, if a married couple had fertility issues relating to the male partner's sperm, could they use a donor?.
is it frowned upon in a more general sense because people should be preaching rather than procreating?.

Interesting question voodoo lady. Also what I understand about their position on IVF using the husband's sperm only is that it's now a conscience matter. Which infuriates me because I have a sister and a sister-in-law who can't have children and IVF was forbidden when we were all young. Who knows, it may have worked for them. Now they are too old to have children the almighty GB say go ahead. So many lives wrecked by these megalomaniacs.

Your only hope is the god of the gaps theory and anyone can use that to state a belief in anything. Say Thor or Princess Diana. - azor
Eh? Princess Diana isn't a myth. Millions of people can attest to that. Whatever do you mean?

It was repeated on the BBC East Midlands news again at 10 pm. Watchtower mags clearly displayed in one shot which is good so people will associate this news with the door knocking lot. Just frustrating my sister won't see it because she refuses to have a TV. Talk about hiding from reality. -

It has just been on BBC East Midlands news. Quite a long segment. Continued repetition of the words Jehovah's Witnesses and mention that the offender was a Ministerial Servant . 'Amelia' had to write down what she suffered at age 14 for "unqualified elders" to read, which, she said led to her breakdown
There will be an appeal but how fantastic that this is all over national news!

After twenty years of marriageā¦
by John Aquila ini just got a call from a friend who informed me that a brother whom i've known for a while and is an elder, just found out last night that his wife of 20+ years declared she was gay, and left him..
i still need to confirm but my friend is very reliable and was close friends with the family.
heres the thing, she spent 20+ years with this man, has children with him and now decides she wants to follow her heart.

I have a friend whose husband didn't realise or admit to himself that he was gay until he was forty. They are still friends after the divorce for the sake of their daughter. She stays with her dad and his husband some weekends. I don't know for sure how my friend feels now but I have always said at least you know it wasn't about you, it was never going to work because he was gay. -

Most companies have to work really hard to manufacture goods or provide a service. These men spend all their time guilting people into giving them money. Who else does that, persuades people to give them money for nothing in return? They've been doing it for over a hundred years. Once a corporation's income reaches critical mass it is not difficult to keep making more money through investments and buying and selling property.I mean how can these guys run a corporation and make good policies when they are so deluded and hide the fact from themselves and their readers?

The Devouring Mother Archetype(jungian) And the Watchtower Corporation's Self Identification As Mother And Jehovah As Father
by Brokeback Watchtower inthe devouring mother must be always listen to and obeyed it is the negative side of the anima image and it rules over the watchtower corporation.
jehovah(corporation's imaginary sock puppet) is the father figure with his masculine macho swagger he gains victory over every detractor and his huge narcissistic personality demands exclusive devotion from everyone or it's the death penalty, he suffers from an inflated ego and has a very dark and evil shadow due to denial of his dark nature/satan(scape goat).
the children or rank and file pee on dedicated members of the corporation must now engage in worthless pursuits to satisfy a mood swinging domineering mother and a murderous self righteous father all the while being shown a very contemptible form of conditional love, accompanied with constant death threat reminders and a carrot on a sting to keep them focused on such and busy with worthless pursuits for a hopeless cause.

I've read several volumes of Jung's collected works, containing many case histories. I also read Memories, Dreams, Reflections, his autobiography, in which he describes his work in a psychiatric hospital in Zurich, Switzerland in his early career. I was interested because he was born in the canton of Thurgau where my husband's mother was born.
One thing I remember from his autobiography is he treated a teenage girl in Burgholizli who had been repeatedly raped by her brother and his friend. She was admitted and diagnosed with schizophrenia. He talked to this girl for seven years and eventually she went home, married, had children and was never admitted again. An interesting case.
A bit of content for you. Forgive me for interrupting your intellectual discussion. I do know about archetypes. I think they are interesting but inconclusive. I shall now leave this discussion because frankly I don't need to be patronized by the likes of you.
