Yurts - Relatively Safe Housing for Earthquake-Prone Areas???

i've always had a fascination for yurts... and i've been wondering - wouldn't these make wonderful homes for earthquake-prone areas with a relatively mild climate?.

Yes, the hole up top is not so effective. Yurts as available in the US are made of some sort of vinyl plastic stuff- not really as insulating as animal skins. And I did not mean its hot in a hot climate, I mean, in the sun, its hot!
The structrual frame just sort of stretches out like an accordion.
In an earthquake, if it collapsed on you you would definitely survive.

I resided in a yurt for a time. the space inside is pleasing, but air circulation is a problem. Also, can be really hot if in full sun.

are they somehow hoping some of this stuff goes viral to garner attention?

i made it half way down the block and there they were!

two older couples out door-to-door.. they seemed to be having a pow-wow in front of a block of apartments.
