so i have been a lurker on this forum since its inception.

i registered over a year ago.

i jumped in several months back with a highly controversial subject of my daughter being sexually abused by an elder and the efforts we were taking to bring him to justice.

Think About it, glad to know you are ready for action, and , my date was lovely.. Despite the tone of this post, I am normally a very peaceful person with love for all of humanity shining from my eyes like the sun.

Hey Problem Addict.

I have no regrets about how I handled this situation. And, I believe there is a BAN on higher education-there are numerous threads here with great scholarly work by people who can and do cite WT literature about this ban, and even in moments where someone does pursue an education they face consequences andthere are numerous threads about that to be found here too by simply searching the forum. So, in my opinion, a ban is an acurate statement.

That sounds JW ish to me and I disagree. Having been through all of this, my perception, my life experience is the valid evidence. And, frankly, I did not initiate the conversation. I also made definitive statements, and to engage them the JW had to turn around in his seat to face me. I was actually passive but like all good JWs are taught to keep trying he would not give up. A little human emotion is more direct and understandable than a knowing cult smile and vacant eyes.

I am an attractive, put together person, not only am I not crazy or un balanced, I also do not APPEAR that way, especailly when headed to a date, when I have gone to the trouble to look my best. I speak and act like the cultured, well manered, over educated person I am.

Preaching to people- especially a captive audience on a bus, is an aggressive act which crosses peoples boundaries and makes them uncomfortable.

I added to that discomfort, but I dont feel the need for caution. My position was a defensive one, in response to a stranger imposing his poison litterature.

My authority in that situation is my perception, my experience. It is subjectivity which is powerful, because the Bible is not science.

Hey Robert!

I noticed you are a Hassan fan. Hassan is great because everything he says makes sense. I consider him baby food for waking someone up who cant eat a solid meal of facts yet.

My date was awesome! It took me a little while to calm down but then we enjoyed a nice dinner- alcohol helps!! LOL!

Yep, Punk- I am familiar with the silly way of thinking- its all self confirming. At which point you can ask- does anything indicate you are NOT the center of the Universe.

And as far as letting it get to me and arguing with sick minds:

I would say in my time in JWN I have definitely been evolving towards letting it get to me, and arguing. The reason being that before signifigant life events I was a little ignorant of how my my family REALLY felt about me as a non JW. My attitude used to be- that I had moved on- and JWs were silly, even pesky- the religion was not on my mind much at all- I mean- its not true- so who cares. However, I think I had not realized how much the religion influenced my worldview- attitudes, and even behaviors even though I thought I left it all behind. Also, I was carrying deep, deep pain over how I was treated which I tried to move on from but kept popping up as anxiety or depression.

So, since being on JWN- the process has been one of reopening some old wounds, an airing things out, and finally I am ready to get my hands dirty. I am sure in time I will be in a place where it doesnt get to me- but seems in the past 6 months I have been processing a good deal of trauma and grief from the abuse, neglect, and shunning I experienced after I left- at a younger age.

I am just getting to the point where though it is extremely personal- its also about other people- and if someone wants to give a WITNESS I can sure Give my WITNESS to my f-ing life story.

Thanks RIP! Yep my heart was pounding- and if any one had tried to jump or mug me for at least an hour afterwards I am sure they would have been badly injured.

Adrenaline is crazy.
