by what authority - outside of the bible, since 41,000 denominations use the bible to back up their individual beliefs - can jws make this claim?

You are still attacking me and not caring for the topic. What gives anyone the authority to believe in what they want to believe over anyone elses beliefs?

I, of course, have a Catholic perspective (no hidden agenda here). I believe history, traditions, scripture, and reason all point to the Catholic faith.

Please tell me where I am wrong instead of accusing me of false humility and egocentricism, and whatnot. I'm not interested in your instults. I never once said I am being persecuted. I only made the observation that much hate is displayed through bigotry and typical religion-bashing. I can take it all day, and I will, hence I am still here ;) ....

When you are finished throwing mud at me, please give me some insight into your own beliefs and what makes you right and everyone else wrong. I'm at my limit for posts for today, but I'll keep reading.

You see things very differently than history does... I see the Catholic Church, over hundreds of years, slowly assuming all of the Roman Pagan world into herself, destroying the Pagan world as it was known, that stood for a thousand years as oppressors. The evil Romans weren't then Evil Roman Catholics, but were converted through the love and prayers of the martyrs and laity of the Church.

Pick up a copy of City of God, by St. Augustine so you can read from a primary source (seeing as he was writing as events were unfolding) how the Catholics were put to death by the Roman Pagans, how the Barbarians slaughtered the Romans but spared the Christians out of respect for the divine man, Jesus. The Catholic Church did not become Roman, but Roman became Catholic. To say otherwise is just a total disregard for truth.

Should a murderer convert to the Church tomorrow, I pray you have the intellectual honestly to understand that the Church isn't of murderers, but of men who were once murderers who have found truth and salvation through the Church Jesus established, for he said, "Upon this Rock, I will build my Church, not churches, bibles, or foundations, but one single Church for all his disciples. And why wouldn't He? God is not a God of confusion or shortsightedness. He does all things with purpos, like establishing His Church on earth. It would be a very cruel thing for a loving God to create tens of thousands of competing churches when he prayed that they all be one body with one head.

Isidore, you keep beating me to the punch...

The next thing we will hear on here will be "Those millions who were killed by the Roman's weren't Catholic," so let me answer that before it's asked. The term "catholic" was used in writings since 100 A.D. by Ignatius of Antioch, who was born around the time of Jesus' death, and was a disciple of the first Apostles.... When he wrote his epistles, he would use the term "catholic" nonchalantly (without definition) because many had already taken on the title traditionally and knew it well.

Later, millions of self-titled "Catholics" would be fed to lions and made sport of in the Roman Coliseum. Thousands of writings still exist today (and you can download hundreds of them for free by doing internet searches), by many of these martyrs and saints. Roman history itself talks about the Catholics underground committing the crime of Communion (bread and wine, body and blood), a "catholic" Christian tradition.

my italian friend loves going to the "feasts" that occur in italy, boston or nyc.

these feasts feature a "saint" with dollar bills pinned around her and they parade the saint in a long procession and chant "viva (whomever)".

they are quite serious about this and are proud to talk about the past generations of observers who appreciated the events.

Oh so very true, apostatethunder.

Everyone wants to point out evils done by every type of religion, yet those who want a world without religions either play down or eliminate from memory all together the atrocities committed by the Godless men of the 20th century (Hitler, Stalin, Pot, Mao, etc.) who were responsible for the slaughter of hundreds of millions of people to reform society to their own standards. Whenever anyone wants to discuss the thousands killed, and crimes committed by any member of any church, first lets discuss what happens when man tries to run himself instead of submitting himself to our Blessed Lord and is responsible for the greatest, damnable crimes possible!

Bodies piled high or laid in ditches, buildings burnt to rubble, and entire countries under the thumb of one supreme dictator; these are the things Christianity in general protects the world from. More precisely, God protects man from himself, but when man throws out God, he also throws out God's protection.

Great job, Isidore,

Unfortunately, facts aren't desireable for some, and being hateful is easier... I love the early Church Fathers. There are literally thousands of writings available for free in most cases, for anybody to read by the early Church Fathers, but many refuse to research them. Why? Because they are profoundly, completely Catholic, and our Church is the same to this very day.

Few are interested in understanding our beautiful Church that Jesus gave us; they prefer to crucify her. And, I find it most distastful that many "Christians" are the ones who perpetrate the harshest judgments on her, all the while not knowing what they are talking about.

True statistics show that sexual abuse in educational, protestant, and labor organizations all heavily outweigh the abuses by superiors in the Catholic Church. One statistic showed upwards of 900,000 cases of child sex abuse in education (just in the US) from 1990 to 2000. There have been 11,000 claims of sex abuse against priests of the Catholic Church over the last 50 years. Abuse from the global Church pales in comparison to just one country's public education system! Source: National Child Abuse and Neglect Data System.

This is a gross case of bigotry against the Catholic Church perpetrated by anti-Catholicism. The real enemy to children is Secularism and evil. Unfortunately, there are perverts in all organizations and churches, and no church, school, government, or any other body should be so bashed because of a few fallen away, sinful people.

The numbers above aren't to show how much "better" the Catholic Church is, because just one case of abuse is one more than should be, but I only give you this information to show you, and everyone, the bigoted bias against the Catholic Church.

So imagine the year is 1750 and a non-Christian who converts to Christ wishes to be faithful to Christ's instructions here. To which church should he go? Think about it....

Christ's Instructions:

Feed the hungry, clothe the naked, be merciful, love your neighbor and your enemy, confess your sins to one-another, eat my flesh and drink my blood, baptize all nations in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, "this is your mother" referring to Mary who says "all generations shall call me blessed", participate in the communion of saints, institution of the office of Peter as the head of the Church on earth....

YEP, SOUNDS LIKE THE CATHOLIC CHURCH TO ME!

Jesus is said to have chosen the Watchtower Society as his only means of salvation because it was the only organization providing food at the proper time, and so justly appointed over all Jesus belongings.

Wow, that requires a lot of faith... And why wouldn't Jesus commission a larger, more enterprising body instead of a small group that isn't supported scripturally or historically? And, what about His warning of false prophets and false Christs' until His second and final coming? He wouldn't come in secret, against what He said was His plan, to make yet another Church on earth, would He?
