  joel bear made the following comment to me: as one of jehovahs witnesses who bears his name, why not give a well thought out answer to the question.. .

  the questions as far as i can determine are this: why is the bible so ambiguous that so many interpretations are possible?

  You need to personally interview both satan and jehovah on this affair. The bible isn't very reliable about heavenly matters. What's that... jehovah isn't speaking to you directly? Then you may have a problem. Have you conversed w satan about his side in this? What's that... you don't want to talk to him.... or hear from him. Then how can you make any decisions at all concerning the spiritual?

  The Fear Of Being Satan

  we had a chap in our local congregation known to everyone as jack.

  he was an amiable helpful fellow until he paid a visit to the dentist.. he'd gone to a local dental surgery to have a wisdom tooth extracted and had been offered 3 choices of pain prevention.

  out of a choice of novocaine locally, knock-out by injection or sleeping gas, he had opted for the sleeping gas.. as he began to come round after the extraction, jack suddenly bounded to his feet and started to wail in some deep anguish.

  If freud and jung are right, we have a lot of bad s**t in our subconscious. Stuff we have repressed, a lot of child and baby fears, like an overstuffed box locked shut. Occassionally through a slight mind alteration by means of certain drugs, chanting, some life changing event or just by chance this box opens a crack and something slips out. The mind makes sense of it by fitting it into the worldview of the person. The results to a person who believes in a demon haunted world are obvious. Sad.

  Way Back When You Were A Witness.......

  back in the dark ages did you used to come into message boards like this one, or h20 and try to defend the watchtower society?

  i did and things didn't work out so well.

  actually they worked out fine, i switched teams.

  Can You Defend Yourself before a J. Committee?

  to those who have been before a judicial committee for apostacy.. the elders will ask you questions not for the purpose of finding out the truth, but to make sure they can df you.. at my appeal hearing serveral months ago i was questioned by the appeal committees to their satifaction, they even thanked me for my honesty, as it helped them get what they were looking for to make the original dfing stand.. after they were finished with their questions i ask if i could now defend myself and prove that i was telling the truth and not a biblical apostate.. the chairman informed me that i would not be allowed to defend myself.. i looked at all 8 brothers(2 committees 5 & 3) in total amazement at his refusal to allow me to defend myself.

  to them(8) it seem perfectly alright not to allow me to defend myself.. wow.. the chairman said they really were not a judicial court and did not need to be that concerned about doing things in harmony with what is concidered to be fair and right by worldly courts or the bible.

  in fact the chairman spent about 10 minutes trying to explain why they didn't have have to be fair in the legalistic way of courts.. .

  I have a tape of my dfing. My defence was weak, even though i had lots of ammunition. I was scared shitless. I could hardly think, but i taped it anyway. I still can't listen to it.

  Terry Pratchett's "Small Gods"

  i have been reading terry pratchett's "small gods" and finding myself either laughing outloud or reading protions outloud to anyone within earshot.

  what a great, funny, truthful indictment of religion and the messes it gets us all into.

  go out and buy a copy, you won't regret it.. i keep thinking i should post some passages on this board.

  What you describe is similar to what is defined as an elemental. It's supposedly a low level spirit. In this case the fire elemental yhwh, which seduced moses w some tricks. Once it got a following its power grew. It's not there anymore? ha ha ha this is tooo funny. I gotta read the book.
