Maybe the purpose of the cia you describe was taken over more by the nsa. The cia has been involved in an unbelievable variety of operations, conventional and unconventional, as well as intelligence work. According to prouty, cia may or may not share its intelligence, depending on its own aims at the time. It is only loosely supervised. It has been active all over the world. Name a place and it has been their, even inside the USA, where it is not mandated to operate. The cia is able to 'borrow' assets from all the military services as it needs them. Often retired and bored military will sign on because they miss the 'fun and games', as prouty put it.

a message to the "you knows" of the world who see tragedy and can only think of their "bets.

i hear stories that jw's really hate it when someone suddenly claims to be of the "anointed" class.
apparently, such new claims are strongly discouraged.. my jw mum says that the reason for this is that when someone claims to be anointed, it can only mean that they are replacing someone else.
in other words, an anointed person has "fallen away from the truth".
James penton said that the elders became 'enraged' that he claimed to be anointed. As some here know he was dfd.

since religion can be a factor in the irrational actions of some people, this is no doubt a timely subject.
two things come to mind when i think about this, though.. first of all, it's my understanding that the purpose of religion is only there to point the way, but is not the way itself.
it doesn't matter to me if you're religious or not, the way i look at it is your relationship to ultimate reality, whether you believe in god, gods or nature.
Intro
Very good points about writings pointing the way. Hindus see their holy writings in a similar way.
'Looking for something to support your own view'. Yes,this is the case. I would take it even firther and say that nations and races choose their religions to suit their own collective natures. If their nature changes, they change their religion. Take islam and the arab peoples. Islam is fierce, barbaric. It is what is needed by the arab temprement to keep order among themselves and at the same time allow them to act out their urges. They are now quite similar to what the the old testement jews were. Notice how similar islamic laws are compared to those of moses.
The jews, who wrote the ot and invented chrisyianity havge evolved over the last 2000 years. So, generally, they have left both of those, especially christianity behind. Their new religion is materialist. Money, power, marxism are part of their new religion. They appear to be inventing another religion.
Many who are jws, became such because it filled a need for definition and support when they were in a crisis. The wt seemed to give reasons and solutions to injustices and suffering. As we grow, we are able to leave behind the supports and the restrictions and move on to new beliefs or non-beliefs.
That's my 25 cents worth

September 15, 2001 Irvine:: CIA Director Must Resign!
Letting the Cat out of the Bag
Reed Irvine
Sept. 14, 2001
The devastating terrorist attack on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon exposed serious chinks in America’s armor. It had more in common with that other day of infamy, Dec. 7, 1941, than just the surprise and devastation. In both cases, there was a failure to act on intelligence information that was available.
Washington failed to notify the commanders at Pearl Harbor that decoded Japanese communications had indicated that war was imminent. Rather than being radioed or telephoned to Adm. Husband Kimmel, it was sent by Western Union and reached the admiral as the bombs were falling.
The White House had no comparable warning of the imminent attack on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon on Sept. 11, but there is evidence that the CIA and FBI were sitting on information that they should have used to alert the FAA, the airlines and the public to Osama bin Laden’s demonic plans. They should have been looking for the kamikaze pilots he was paying American flight schools to train. They should also have been advising that the strongest possible measures be taken to prevent them from hijacking any airplane.
We spend $30 billion a year to gather intelligence. The expenditures are made in the hope that they will enable us to prevent disasters such as the one we have just experienced. They have averted some, but when it came to the big one, they failed dismally despite advance warnings.
Osama bin Laden is on the FBI’s most-wanted list. The reward offered for help in capturing him is $5 million, 10 times the next highest reward offered for a fugitive. One would think that the FBI, the CIA and the National Security Agency would spare no effort to find out what he is planning.
In 1995, when one of his followers, Abdul Hakim Murad, was arrested in Manila, the Philippine authorities discovered a plot on his laptop computer that called for hijacking U.S. airliners and bombing them or crashing them into targets, including the CIA. It was called Project Bojinka, and U.S. officials were made aware of it at that time.
Murad admitted that he was being trained for a suicide mission. He was extradited to the U.S. and convicted, together with Ramzi Yousef, of participating in the World Trade Center bombing in 1993.
That should have focused the attention of the CIA, FBI and NSA on any indications that bin Laden had not abandoned Project Bojinka. Reports that bin Laden was training pilots should have set alarm bells ringing. Only a few months ago an American Airlines crew had their uniforms and ID badges stolen from their hotel room in Rome. At the end of August, the airline alerted its employees to be on the lookout for impostors, but apparently no one saw this as a possible link to Project Bojinka. Airport security remained as lax as ever.
Next came bin Laden’s warning in mid-August that there would be "an unprecedented attack on U.S. interests." With Bojinka in mind, the government should have taken the strongest possible measures to prevent hijackings.
Bin Laden showed his contempt for our intelligence agencies by training some of his hijackers at flight schools in this country, right under their noses. Had they forgotten about Project Bojinka in only six years? It should have been engraved in the collective memory of the CIA, the one target that Abdul Hakim Murad had mentioned by name. The FBI should have been asked to check out the flight schools, seeking information about any Middle Eastern students they had enrolled. The NSA should have been monitoring phone calls from the cities in which flight schools with Middle Eastern students were located. The CIA should have checked them for ties to bin Laden.
There has been some discussion in the media about the degradation of CIA’s human intelligence capabilities as a result of a decision made by the former director, John Deutch. After the media stirred up a fuss about an informant accused of having a bad human rights record, he ordered that every informant had to have a squeaky clean record, putting a crimp in the recruitment of informants.
But our media have not told us about the CIA and FBI forgetting about Project Bojinka. For that, you had to go to Australia’s Sydney Morning Herald, which carried an Agence France-Presse story about it. Both Louis Freeh, the director of the FBI, and George Tenet, the director of Central Intelligence, dropped the ball. Freeh is gone. Tenet should go.

Sadam checked with the american ambassador before he invaded kuwait. The ambassador said something to the effect that the USA had no interests there. I know an iranian who went through the revolution in iran. He believes that kuwait was supposed to be the payoff for sadams war against iran. If sadam was doublecrossed, then it's no wonder he is mad. Of course he was an asshole before that.

Do you mean what will be the end result. The end result is always the same. Bigboi shows the obvious similarity that the USA has to the roman empire. It came, it saw, it conquored, it broke up. Everything that rises, falls. How much time before the fall is the question. I apologise ahead of time to patriots.

In 1995 i thought i became anointed. I believed i had a tremendous experience with jesus and god. A year later, when i was dfd, it was listed as one of my offences. I now view that spiritual experience as the 'door' that opened to the spiritual aspect of the universeI too believe everyone could have a similar awakening. I believe there are many ways to reach it.. I believe that spiritual growth can continue. It does not need to be hampered by theology or dogma, although care needs to be exercised.

Actually, in the big picture, a pattern emerges. Noreiga installed by the USA. Castro installed by USA. Shah of iran installed by USA. Russia, an ally of the USA in ww2 was built up by the lend lease program. Before that, the bolshevik revolution recieved several huge infusions of USA money and would not have succeeded without them. Hitlers germany also recieved much aide from USA corporations. China has also been opened up and basically had its booming economy built up by USA groups since henry kissenger and nixon. The pattern.... the USA produces its own enemies. Strange, very strange. Possibly hegel gives the reason. Read hegel.
