Any thoughts on the real reasons for droppng the 'school"
by sparrowdown inmy thoughts are.
1. they want to avoid being made to comply with any laws that come with anything classed as a "school" especially a school with children enrolled.. 2. the mid-week meeting has been dying in the ass for years and needs a revival.
i predict happy -clappy-sing-a-longs to be included in the program.. anyone else have any thoughts ??

I don't understand why you need a school to prepare people to mind a magazine stand for a couple of hours while drinking coffee and having a gossip. -

Watchtower Society: something terribly going on - scenarios
by Gorbatchov inif an (aggressive) real estate fund is stopping it's operations directly,.
and if an publishing house is minimize the portfolio,.
and if a member of it's board of directors is telling the costs are higher then the profits,.

John Aquila : "I donβt believe they have a financial problem. They have billions not millions and a large volunteer army who would fall on a grenade for the organization."
That was my thoughts too. I think the most likely scenario is that they're getting jittery over the current "world conditions" (TM), especially the migrant crisis that doom-mongers are saying is going to end western civilisation as we know it. They are probably desperately fitting it into their prophetic models of overlapping generations, UN and peace and security scenarios as we speak.
Mark my words they are taking an opportunistic advantage of people's fears. The building work will be back on track next year (assuming Armageddon doesn't come in the meantime ahem)

Wingcommander: the point of the OP seems to be that brother knocked at the door unannounced at 11am (with other brothers). The whole "gay" allegation seems to be beside the point. The post, like yours, is border homophobic (lumping closet gay, with perv and voyeur).
It's like back in the past in this country when newspapers might have reported that "a black man" shot someone. But if a white man shot someone, the skin colour was never mentioned. It was rascist.
It's like how back in the 90s if a paedophile was also gay, this would be mentioned (whatever the gender of the victim). But if the paedophile was "straight" that wouldn't be...subliminally supporting the myth that gay men are more likely to be paedophiles than straight men.
Rant over.

I'm sick of...
by freemindfade ini'm sick of.... ...having an elder i barely know invite himself over to my house, and bring another asshole elder with him, you know, to "see how i'm doing" f-ck them.
...having same elder with all insincerity approach me at the beeting and before inviting himself over, ask, "how are you doing?
" then when i say everything is great, go ahead and invite them selves over anyway.

When I was first fading I lost count of the time one particular elder would call on a Sunday while me and my boyfriend were relaxing in our PJs watching TV. I didn't answer the door and he would put notes through my door.
Then there was the time I arrived home after a weekend away and my next door neighbour said "there was an old man looking for you, asking where you were and if you still live here".
i appreciate its different when your wife is still in and you're going to some of the meetings, but as others have said - you don't owe them anything. Thank them for calling and tell them you're busy and will let them know when it's convenient for them to come around. Take back control.

I agree with Muddy Waters. I was one. The poor guy deserves sympathy (if he is indeed gay), not mocking judgment bordering on the homophobic. Hopefuly he'll wake up before the best years of his life are over. -

Jehovah said he will start the cleaning from his own house
by Tempest in a Teacup inthis very popular quote came back to my mind today when i was thinking about what jws in the third world country where i live would do if they should hear about the australian abuse story.
this has been the one explains-it-all, excuses-it-all phrase to respond to nasty things going on in "god's house".. if they should hear about the story, they would just nod, say that phrase and add the sentence that traditionally accompanies it: it is because he is well aware that there are rotten elements in his house, so we shouldn't be surprised...and then they will move on with merrily.
end of story.

What Joe134cd said. If indeed Jehovah started with his own house, then it proves the Catholic Church are his "house". Would love to see what they say about that ππ -

Largest amount of refugees since WW2 in Europe
by Powermetal4ever inso i had a discussion with my mother about this, and she claims that because of this that: "we are surely living in the last days right now" while i must admit myself that the situation seem chaotic, i don't want to believe that it is the last days.
so question is, how do i face an opinion like that?

I agree the Arab nations should be playing their part, but it's no excuse not to help. It's like seeing someone choking in a restaurant, knowing the heimlich manoeuvre, but saying it's not my job to help them, there must be a doctor in this restaurant somewhere who can do something about it.
In years to come, history will be our judge. But I guess in the meantime we can stay safe in our comfort zone, hoping what's over there doesn't come over here and rock our little world.
george michael's "praying for time" comes to mind

There's always an excuse not to do something to help. Usually it comes down to protecting our own way of life.
I'm sure this paranoid way of thinking was prevalent before and during the Second World War. As whole nations tried to flee the Nazi onslaught. Were there Nazi spies included among the genuine refugees? Maybe. But thank god for a few individuals who had more humanity than most and helped smuggle people to safety. They did the right thing for their "here and now".
to those people saying "these migrants are breaking the law" - carry on looking the other way of it makes you feel better.
to those people saying there might be a few terrorists among them. Could be true. But sometimes you have to take a risk to do the right thing. In any case they're unlikely to have weapons on them when they're rescued from a capsized boat or washed up one the shore. These people can be rescued and monitored.
far more dangerous I think is for some frustrated people of good will taking matters into their own hands and smuggling people to safety out of sight of the authorities. In those cases any terrorists could well gain entry completely off the radar.
to those that say we should send them back and concentrate on solving the problems in those countries at the root. That doesn't help anybody right now. The starving cold terrified family doesn't have the luxury of time.
we will always find a good reason not to help other people. The bottom line is, any of us could have been born in Syria or Iraq. Luckily for us we weren't. But that doesn't give us any moral "right" to the land we were born in through no personal skill of our own.
Humans. We're a selfish bunch aren't we?
