It's a small world in JW land. I moved to the other side of the world and there was a brother in the congregation that actually used to be in my old congregation which was in a remote and very rural part of the U.K and he knew all the people I knew. I couldn't believe it.

They still manage to find me.
by blisterfeet ini grew up a jw, left at about 17 years old..(i'm 33 now) a little over a year ago i moved 1000 miles away from where i grew up.
today i "ran" into someone in the same congregation as my dad... like how is that even possible?!?!?
he was very kind, mentioned the borg but only in ways that related to his life.. his daughter is a pioneer, my dad gives "the best" comments at the meetings, my sister is awesome.. blah blah blah... .

How Many People Here Still Believe In “God”?
by minimus inbecause of this site i realized that there were many people who were active jehovah’s witnesses really didn’t believe in god at all.
i’m curious how many people believe in god?
i’m not interested in debating why you shouldn’t have a belief in a god or should.

All I'm saying is...my parents would be turning over in their graves if they saw this.
I am beyond shocked. These talks are totally unnecessary and to be honest, those guys appears to be a pair of perverts. If I had a son in bethel and knew about these talks, he'd be out of there. They have no right to interfere in people's personal lives anyway but to go this far is outrageous.
But, haven't the WT always been obsesses with sex?? I remember in the 60s an Awake coming out about sex and how it's done (in great detail) and as a teenager I was absolutely horrified that I was expected to take that magazine out in the ministry.
What else is next, one wonders?

by Heathen Dan inthis is my first post to this site, im pale.emperor's brother:).

Hello Dan,
Welcome! There are some wonderful people on here who will help and support you and I know your brother cares for you very, very much. I'm not that far from you (N.Wales)
I can't believe they've talked of suing you, imagine that in court?? The courts wouldn't take too kindly to them, would they?
You've done a very brave thing and I know you are going to be just fine and remember, you are never alone. You have your brother and all of us on here.
Take care of yourself.

After 10 years do they give up on you (hoping so)
by Spiral ini think i read somewhere that if you have been inactive for ten years plus, the elders will not try to meet with you and corner you to get you back "in".
is that true?.
i just realized that mr. spiral and i haven't gone to meetings or reported time for over ten years.

It depends on your local elders. For example, in my town we have a young ex brother - faded - lives with his girlfriend, has a baby, smokes, celebrates Xmas etc. They don't bother him or pursue him because he also happens to be the son of one of the most prominent families in my congregation.
Apparently, he is not now 'seen as a JW' so they leave him alone.
The WT say often enough they 'don't hunt people down to DF them'
However, there is also a sister in my congregation who has been DF for smoking. She hasn't attended meetings in years and years no one locally would view her as a JW. Yet, they saw her smoking and DF her.
As Fall Guys says elders will decide if/when to 'attack' you. Always be prepared.

Cart Witnesses vs Faith Healing Church
by pale.emperor intoday in liverpool the cart witnesses were in their usual speck in bold street holding out their wafer thin rags and books that they literally can't even give away.
but today the city centre was flooded with some sort of black church handing out their leaflets and little invitations to a "special event" this sunday.
i took a leaflet off them as they handed it to me and they were very smiley and cheerful.

Absolutely true eyeuse2badub
I was guilty of the same but I thought I knew what I was talking about and loved it when people wanted to talk. Now I realize I was just spouting what WT wanted me to say. I now have to reexamine everything as I only left last May so my brain is still in WT mode somewhat.
Now I keep having flashbacks of conversations of people saying things like: WT cherry picked scriptures to suit them or you can get the bible to say anything. There was me staunchly defending WT! Now those old conversations are starting to make sense.

Well said, LoisLane
you and I are two of many who didn't just have their lives stolen but suffered at the hands of JWs! I am mid 60s and yes, it is a traumatic shock to find out it's a lie. I don't think I'll ever recover from it.
