Like him or not, I have to say if it wasn't for Lloyd and also Critical Thinker, I don't think I would have woken up. I always imagined apostates to be a bit more like Mike and Kim (who I was terrified of at first but now I'm a bit more used to them and like them) The John Cedars channel really helped me. I remember him saying 'research, research, research' so I did.

As it's highly unlikely I'll ever go to Warwick, I found Lloyd Evans latest video fascinating. I had no idea that the whole 'museum' (if you can call it that) was so big. Notice the credit card machines by the entrance.
It looks pretty awesome to be honest, even though the history bit is somewhat santized - to say the least.

Attendents sit at the best seats
by Quarterback inwell it's been awhile since i got angry and wanted to post on here again.
last week's watchtower about the subject of love had something to say about the hard working attendants.
it seems that they are choosing to sit in the best seats at the convention.

I remember at our Circuit Assemblies there were brothers who were well connected and they used to have comfy chairs at the side of the stage. They never sat with the R&F squashed liked sardines in the auditorium.
I learnt pretty quick that there were JWs in an elite class. Jet set we used to call them.

Counting time calling on inactive ones?
by stillin inhad a couple of witnesses stop by yesterday to say the usual "we miss you, missed you at the meeting, just checking in on you, etc.
" i've always liked this guy so we spoke for a few minutes.
my wife said that they could count their time since i am inactive.

Ah...so that explains why my husband - who left WT about 20 or so years go - gets called on by the elders..all of a sudden. They are counting their time. When he first stopped attending literally no one bothered with him - ever. I think he had 2 visits and one of them was just to inform him he had to stand down as a MS.
Now they have started coming around and leaving magazines for him, too.
Explains a lot.

Difficulty fading out
by Emily1987 inthis is my first post on here so i apologize that it is like an essay!.
my husband and i are currently 'fading out' of the truth.
we stopped preaching in may 2016 and limited meeting attendance in january 2017 and stopped completely in june 2017. my main reason for this was my whole life i have been doing things to please others, even getting baptized to please my mum.

Hi Emily,
I urge you to do exactly as freddo says.
A former JW and ex elder posting on Youtube said if you let them into the house their eyes will be darting everywhere. Do not give them ammunition.
I left last May and this week I've had two elders visits. It's really hard because they come across as so nice but I'm sick of them calling on me. They won't leave me alone.
You are going to have to be very careful if you want to fade and keep in contact with your family.

So my PIMO Younger Brother Tried To Kill Himself Today
by pale.emperor inwe all know that this cult will drive those trying to leave to desperate measures, and today by brother was very nearly one of those statistics.
he slashed his thigh with a kitchen knife and was bleeding out until he called the police.. i got a call on my way home from work from a police officer, coincidentally it was one of my old friends from school who's now a cop.
he told me my brother is in hospital after an attempted suicide and has lost some blood but will be ok. but i should get to the hospital as he's asking for me.

Pale Emperor
Thinking of you this morning and hoping your brother is okay.
My heart goes out to you. Please don't let your brother go. Hang on to him. He needs you.
I am speechless as to your mother's behaviour. As a mum myself nothing would stand between me and the well being of my kids. No religion. Nothing. She is heartless. They are all heartless.
'By their love you will know them' yes, well that definitely rules out witnesses!
You are a good person and I would be proud to have you as a son.
Much love to you.

Which Things Did Your Overzealous Parents Ban?
by pale.emperor inwe all know the gb like to impose rules upon the rules... but did anyone else out there have parents that implemented rules upon those rules?
mine did.
my mum tended to copy whatever the elders wives were doing and took it to the extreme.

My parents didn't ban too much - I had posters on my wall and listened to pop music (this was in the 60s) mainly because they were so busy fighting they didn't have much time for us kids.
The only thing was - mixing with worldly people in any way at all was strictly forbidden. I could go to school with them, but I was the kid who had to sit alone in a classroom doing homework while the Xmas disco was on in the school hall.
I wasn't even allowed a phone call from a school friend. I remember once a girl saying she was going to phone me up about some homework we were doing and I was truly petrified because I knew my dad would go ballistic. So much so I sneaked down the hall while they were watching television and wedged a card in the phone so it would appear engaged if she rang.
To be honest, what a life! How could parents be so awful to us?
I never banned my kids from anything. I got into a shed load of trouble with a pioneer sister because my son had a ghost busters car. She said I must throw it away. I didn't.
All my kids have grown up into kind, well-rounded young men and I couldn't be more proud of them.

Non JW wife/JW husband Christmas tree debate
by spacegirl443 infirst post here and looking for advice and help.

hi spacegirl443,
welcome!
It might be different seeing as you are his wife and the whole him being the head etc. But we have a sister in my congregation who married when out of the religion to a non-JW and then she came back into it. Every year they have a tree, presents, cards and decorations and she even goes with him to buy the presents for the kids. She is trying to be fair to him as he wants to celebrate it. Her only stipulation is that he doesn't buy her a gift...he does anyway, tho!
