Elders encouraging young ones to live in a fairy tale

so one of the elders at the meeting tonight addressed to parents in his talk, “if your child wants to flip burgers for the rest of their life, because that’s is the only job that will allow them to have a schedule for full time service, you would want to support them the best you can.” he has also said told parents that if their children already have plans to go to college, even in the near future, they should try to do everything to stop them.

there’s so much ranting i could do about that alone, but to make matters worse, this is a considerably well off man.

he has his own buisness, a nice house with an additional room he added on last year, and him and his wife just took a lavish european trip.

My husband (not born in) was chatting to someone about what they did as kids on Saturday morning..watch cartoons, Saturday morning movies at the local cinema etc. The fun they had!

It made me realise I just didn't have a childhood at all. My weekends were Saturday morning ministry, sometimes Saturday afternoons too and Sunday morning ministry and then the meeting. All this as a small child. No fun whatsoever. Every weekend ministry and meeting. We had no choice and history repeats itself over and over again.

My husband took up guitar lessons and a pioneer (who clearly felt he shouldn't be having lessons) told him she'd like to learn to play guitar but she belonged to the AA Club...After Armageddon.

Not only were we discouraged from having a career, we've always been discouraged from putting money in pension plans because we'd never need one.

Now I am are older (65) and my husband and I are financially in a mess. So imagine how I felt when one of the elders giving this advice retired recently and told me he was sorting out all the many private pension plans he'd set up.

I could kick myself for being so stupid as to listen to these people when all the time half of them were not taking their own advice.

Thank goodness, we had the presence of mind to make sure our boys were well educated or we'd never forgive ourselves.

a while back i came across someone whom i'd been at school with back in the late 50's.

it was an all-boys school, quite tough, with the accent on games and machinery skills.

Has Anyone Seen This?

there is a letter doing thr rounds in a few places.its from a jdub in ntherlands pimi, who is beseeching all jdubs about the child abuse issues.

the letter is quite long so do not want to post it as i want only those people who may be interested to read it all,to have it ,and not want people to just ignore it coz of its lengthness.

2nd Update/Scary Experience

glad to say just got the news that the man who was arrested on suspicion about the dead bodies has been convicted of those two murders.

his accomplice is on the run, search going on for him.

there are talks about raising more awareness in the country park area now.. this news helps us to breath a little easy now.. thank you all for your support.. peace..

most of us realised you meant charged and English isn’t your first language. Take no notice of some people at least you can speak other languages which is more than I can say for myself!

im so glad they caught the person. You’ve had a frightening experience and hopefully, no more midnight walks??

I told my parents I no longer believe any teachings of JWs

since my last post i have spoke with my parents and told them i am no longer a believer.

i told them i just can't anymore.

here is my short story.

If it helps I can say how it was for me when my husband left the WT. He left years and years before me and the day he came home and told me he wasn’t going anymore...I can remember exactly what I was doing and where...it was that shocking to me. My world imploded. I couldn’t understand why he was giving up. I wouldn’t listen to him explain. I felt as if he was committing spiritual suicide. I then spent years and years trying to get him back in until finally, circumstances caused me to wake up too. So go slowly with your wife and be gentle. It’s such a big thing to do and I’m happy that you are getting out. It takes time for your family to adjust and all they’ll will be thinking about is how to save you from yourself.

I have question about Harry Peloyan

i learned from loyd evans video that because of his higher education (harvard graduate).

and talented carrier in wall street journal,harry peloyan was very quick to be invited to world hq.. according to his life story (w may 1 ,2006) , he was invited to whq in 1957.. i wonder when was he baptized?.

is it true that people who have higher education be used by the org more quickly than people who don’t?.

EXJW FIFTH also interviewed a young man who was in Bethel and had followed all of the WTs advice about higher education. He said it was really annoying and unfair that having obeyed the GB he then saw university educated brothers fast tracked into high positions in Bethel.
