I notice they do not say Jehovah...it is always Gee-HO'-vuh, and as you say it is repeated multiple times, as if it is some kind of verbal talisman.

Jehovah, Jehovah, Jehovah
by Sour Grapes inmy pimi wife listens to a lot of the meetings on the phone with the speaker on.
when i am watching tv i hear the meetings in the background.
i just cringe with how a witless can't give a comment without having said jehovah at least two times.

What Do You Think About The Police?
by minimus insome people are very suspicious of the police.
some folks value policemen and women.
i’ve had experience with some.

Sure you don't. Until of you course, some thugs are knocking your door down to rob you. Then your opinion will quickly change.
My opinion is not PC. I refuse to call police for anything. If some thugs are knocking my door down to rob me they will be promptly shot! Where I live we have a "Castle Doctrine" that states a persons home is their "castle" and they can defend it even if it means killing the intruder. I am a licensed concealed weapons holder, and I have taken the needed training, and will not hesitate to defend myself, my property, or others who may be in danger. I have done so on more than one occasion already. Of course the eldubbs hate that little nugget of fact.
The police where I live are nothing other than a large "legal" organized gang of thugs themselves!

Baptism Question #2 Verified and Changed.

I also notice that mention in Q1 has dropped reference to Jesus ransom sacrifice. I wonder what would happen if I told some eldurr that I do not belong to whatever the Hell religion is trying to pass itself off as JW these days as my baptism five decades ago was in association with an entirely DIFFERENT religion, and should I renounce THAT religion to be part of THIS religion?

Schafer did the baptism talk in Atlanta and introduced the Simplified version of the Baptism Questions where question #2 was changed removing the Spirit Directed Organization part.
Noticed that too. I asked everyone I talked to at the CONvention I was at if they noticed the change. No one did.
About 3,200 attendance with 13 dunked. All except one were school age teens. Of the 13 only 4 were males.

Did your congregation ever throw special parties exclusively for Pioneers?
by Tenacious ini'm trying to remember if these parties were a direct instruction from hq or if this was something on a local level.. i remember i attended at least 2 of these parties and we also would bring them gifts.
i saw them no different than a bday party (elevating someone to idolatry level).. if anyone else remembers these parties please let me know.
if there's a letter out there somewhere from hq that would be even better.

When they were alive my parents would host a pioneer appreciation dinner for the pioneers and their husband/wife. They would host an elder/ms appreciation dinner for them and their wives. They would host a group appreciation dinner for their kingdom hall group for the entire families. They would host most if not all the members of the congregation on an individual basis at least once each during the calendar year. My parents were two of the most generous hospitable people you could have ever had the pleasure to know. They epitomized what a Christian should have been, not just to other JW's but to complete strangers.
Of course when they got old enough to no longer be financially useful to, or physically capable of being used and abused by the lazy JDubs they were promptly kicked to the curb. I have made reference to comments each of them made about JW's just shortly before their deaths.

Convention 2019: Children told don't form emotional attachment to pets!
by Nathan R. Koppe ini have just heard from a visitor to the jehovah's witnesses convention for 2019, that they have been told; 'not to form an emotional attachment to their pets, as animals don't have feelings anyway'.. well, that should break a few children hearts!👨👩👧👦 🥴 😭 💔.
my orignal topics are at.

Why does JW.borg always have to bring up animals “licking their sexual and anal areas” ?
Well one fine Sunday ToMo and Fat Sanderson were sitting out front of Warwick quaffing a few Macallans when they spotted a dog licking his balls. Fat Sanderson asked ToMo, "I'll bet you wish you could do that!" ToMo replied, "I sure do. But I'm afraid if I tried to that damned dog would bite me!"
(Sorry if that offends anyone. Feel free to delete it if it does.)

New convention video
by Olig inso i've just seen a snippet of a new convention release, and it's obviously a reenactment (bloody poor one - look at the state of the disposable beards lol!
) of bible times.. the chap speaking is heard saying if your family members turn away and serve false gods, you should kill them!.

Not surprising given the obvious pleasure Top Shelf/Tight Pants Tony gets talking about killing people at Armageddon.
I wonder if the time will come that the g.b. will give "instructions that do not seem practical from a human standpoint" and order the literal killing of "slackers" by "faithful" Dubs, demanding that blood be shed to prove their loyalty to the g.b.?
Think it could NEVER happen? I am sure people did not think that Jim Jones could convince people to commit mass suicide, or Islamist's could convince suicide bombers either.

Oh how this religion has changed! Would this have been permitted 20 years ago??
by stuckinarut2 inhttps://m.facebook.com/100002613343180/posts/2271710659592690?sfns=mo.
would the old-timers even recognise this religion anymore?.
this is from one of the international conventions held this year.

I have repeated a comment on here before that my mother said before she died. "If Jehovah's Witnesses had been in the forties when I got baptized what they are now...I would NEVER HAVE BECOME ONE!"

Love Among Yourselves?
by Lost in the fog inyou have to wonder why a congregation which claims to have love among itself would not do something to help this poor off member of the congregation.
oh wait a minute, they preached to him, got him in, so now he's on his own - just like all the rest of them!

Before he died my dad due to loneliness after my mothers death began to get pretty grouchy. An "elder" came by and told me I should just put him in a home. At the time that was not an option as my dad was still perfectly able to care for himself. The "elder" said that he had offered to, "have your father's suit cleaned," and he told me to, "mind your own business."
I told the "elder", "That was sure nice of you. He will die of loneliness, but at least he will be buried in a clean suit! No go away!"
My father had a saying before he died, "They have 'love' on their lips, but none in their hearts!" Yes, actions speak louder than words. Today's typical JW is nothing if not a hypocrite!
