King David's Three Choices
by Jehalapeno ineditor's note: found this on reddit...thought the meat of the post would be a good post for discussion here as well.. consider the three choices god forced upon david for taking a census.
these three choices were forced on king david, not for murdering people, not for raping women, not for lying, stealing, or any crime we can think of in our modern world that is repugnant, but simply for taking a census or in other words, counting people.. for counting people, jehovah forced a decision on david that involved the lives of thousands upon thousands of innocent people.. the choices all dealt with the “way” jehovah would kill thousands of unsuspecting loyal worshipers.. 1 chronicles 21.
“these are the choices the lord has given you.

There wasn’t enough time to bury the dead or even mourn them.
And that is why tony gleefully speaks of killing people at Armageddon.
And I would bet that anyone who was alive after that, if it actually were to happen, will be instructed by governing body 3.0 to not feel sorry for their relatives even the infants, or face the wrath of god. -

Why do Americans have to pay so much for College???
by RubaDub ini know there is a huge college/university lobby here in the us that lives off of students paying, in some cases, enormous amounts of money just to attend.. putting politics aside, if that is possible, (and i am not a bernie sanders guy by any means), but how can we pay for pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, elementary school, junior high, high school, and then throw a huge debt to someone who wants to continue learning?
can't the us (public and state universities) afford four more years for young people to get on a career path without having to, in some cases, take out a mortgage/loan more than the cost of some homes?
then, (and nothing against immigrants, i am married to one), but then the us has to "import" students from other countries to fill the needs that we should be supplying here.

The worker bees...only need the education to succeed in what is (incorrectly) perceived as low level jobs.
Education for the benefit of society isn't even acknowledged as a right for the average citizen.
So what then is the benefit of hundreds of thousands of dollars spent on an "education" that has no practical benefit? Here are just a few. Culinary Arts degree, Fashion Design degree, Art History degree, Music degree, Liberal Arts degree, Studio Arts/Fine Art degree, Performing Arts.
Does a person need that kind of education to flip burgers for the rest of their life, or wash windows, or build homes, or any of a hundred other needed occupations that are looked down on by the over-educated self important elites? The trouble, as I see it, with huge amounts of college debt to learn something that only benefits a small portion of the work-force is that employment potential is low in relation to the cost to get those few jobs. The seeming mind set of people contemplating continuing education appears to be "low effort, high return" and the world just doesn't operate that way.
I was given the choice to go to college by my parents (against WT advice) with the recommendation of studying to be a lawyer or doctor. I chose instead to go to a vo-tech junior college at low student cost for training in a fast growth construction sector job. When minimum wage was only $1.60 per hour I was hired right out of school at $9.00 per hour. By the time I was in my mid- forties I was comfortably retired with a paid for home, and money enough in investments to live the rest of my life my way.
As a previous post said, "College is not for everyone."

Allowed?

her son goes and cleans her house and generally cares for her.
so does another non-jobo relative.. the congregation, interestingly, has shown very little support apart from the odd one rabbiting on about 'bible promises this and that'.. so, the co visited and said, 'but your son is an apostate(tm).

Great revision on that parable. However, may I be so bold as to change the last few sentences?
The next day he took out two quid, gave them to the innkeeper, and said: ‘Take care of him, and whatever you spend besides this, I will repay you when I return.' Upon hearing of the apostate's kindness the circuit overseer, and the elder enlisted a third elder; and promptly disfellowshipped the victim of the robbers while he was still in poor health at the inn for "associating" with the apostate and not showing up for his inquisition.
Sorry, I could not help but remember what happened after a car accident to my former sister-in-law, and how two self-righteous, pompous elders treated her.

The congregation,
interestinglynaturally, has shownvery littleno support...This is how I found the CONgregation where my parents lived to be. Once my parents health failed and the cash stopped flowing towards JW's they became persona non grata. The SOB's will bind heavy loads on the rank and file but never lift a finger to help.

Every JW should watch it!
Except the ones who most need to see and understand it, will never watch it. They will blindly follow governing Pope Lett's instructions to ignore "apostates" lies. And sadly the abuse will continue. Unless or until someone finally takes matters into their own hands.

Have You Ever Been Scammed?
by minimus inof course we all were scammed while we were jehovah’s witnesses.
i’m thinking of ways besides religion.. a popular scam is to get a call from your electric company saying they overbilled you and needed to verify your name, address and social security number.
then they will send you your money back.

I have never been scammed, although I am still waiting for that $10,000,000 US payout that I was promised if only I gave my Social security number, address, date of birth, bank routing and account number to that nice prince from Nigeria so he could deposit it directly into my account, which for some reason now is overdrawn.

Former elders did you ever ?
by Fadeaway1962 inhi did any former elders ever suggest that bro & sis should go to the police?.
there was a group of sis with various health conditions and on medications had a gathering and drank a lot wine , one of the sister physically assaulted another sis , myself and a another elder were assigned to deal with it after hearing what happened i said to the sis she could contact the police the other elder a lot older gave me a dirty look , the sis said i trust you bro to deal with it .. i think that's why witnesses don't get the police involved because we have been convinced that we can trust the elders and the organisation , and to trust and have faith that god knows all the facts and can read hearts and will deal with it in his time scale and encouraged to leave it with him and not to bring reproach on his name..
