  Does Bethel decide how much they expect each congregation to cough up, while pretending that it is the elders' decision?

  The "Branch" decides how much they want for the year, then "suggests" what the per publisher tithe contribution should be. The elders then read that letter, present a resolution to the congregation to pay the amount reached by multiplying the number of publishers by the "suggested" amount. No matter how the votes for/against/abstain are counted the resolution always show FOR: All and AGAINST: None. Then each month that the accounts falls short they "thank" the publishers for remembering to contribute so we do not fall short of our "vow".

  So glad to be out of that hamster wheel!

  study article 22 is headed.

  "keep traveling on the "way of holiness".

  this article states that since 1919, having left babylon the great in that year, jws today are traveling on 'the way of holiness" (a figurative highway) as it takes them through the spiritual paradise and leads them through to future kingdom blessings.. they say that 'preparatory work' of that highway began centuries earlier.

  Strange that according to them only JW's were workers on the roadway receiving instruction from Jehovah here in the United States. Fifty years prior to this my great-great grandfather was a minister of some note in England, even traveling an annual circuit to preach sermons to remote congregations. He was already preaching about Christmas and the use of the cross then, and that the soul was not immortal. He was what was termed as a "dissenter" against the teachings of the Catholic Church and the Church of England. Some time worn writings in his own hand state how in the late 1800's he traveled to Pennsylvania, USA to meet with others who had similar beliefs.

  But of course the governing body has proclaimed that they, and ONLY they are the channel of Bible teaching. I would like to hear them explain why it was only the U.S. that had their "truth"?

  Jehovah's Witnesses and Tattoos

  i was wondering about the jw attitude towards getting tattoos.. redditors suggest that the only jws who have them would have got them before they were baptised.. jw.org gives a meally-mouthed "true christians wouldn't" response.. but no-one (that i've seen so far) answers the question i'm actually asking: is getting a tattoo after being baptised a disfellowshipping offence?.

  if not disfellowshipable, how would a typical jw congregation treat someone who got a tattoo after baptism?

  would they really treat it like it is a conscience issue?.

  JW's strictly apply Leviticus 19:28 NKJV ... "28 You shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor tattoo any marks on you," as a modern day command that one absolutely must obey without question.
  

  Yet they turn around and ignore completely what is said at Leviticus 19:27 NKJV - "27 You shall not shave around the sides of your head, nor shall you disfigure the edges of your beard," with their mandated smooth face shaving rule.

  My report from the "trying my patience" DC

  pre covid attendance was always 7k+ this year 4500.. 37baptised mixed bag.

  less then half were children.. as far as patience goes, it can certainly help you be a better person when dealing with others but needless to say, this having patience waiting for jehovah is pure b.s.!

  it`s not Jehovah who comes to their rescue ,but Satans world who bails them out .

  For the sake of a dear older friend who is PIMI and pretty well confined to his home I took him to his Sunday meeting as he asked me to do for him. Between hands of online solitaire I noticed this little nugget of lunacy in the WT study. *** w23 May p. 10 par. 8 How Jehovah Answers Our Prayers ***
  If Jehovah were to solve mankind’s problems now, it could appear as if Satan’s rulership were having a measure of success. They really went on about that. No one could provide any explanation of why Jehovah solving problems would appear that it was Satan. Wouldn't God solve the problems and also provide proof that it was HE would did it?

  At least I had the satisfaction of providing some companionship for my elderly friend, a meal at a restaurant, and a bit of relief from being stuck in his home 24/7 with ZERO visits from any of the big wheels or important ones in his congregation.

  The lack of any genuine "love" shown by JW's tries my patience with those hypocrites!

  30 thousand members suffer 8 full days of hot sun, lunch served military style, sleeping in tents, bathing, cleaning and bathroom breaks ( who knows where ), mothers contending with nursing, feeding and changing little babies, no air-conditioning, long wait times to enter and leave the grounds...

  Just shows to me that people living six decades ago were a much hardier stock than the wimps today.

  And yes, I remember well the camping out, the long food lines, etc.

  Only one weekly meeting?

  new wt october 2023....first an article remembering 1923....they make changes, the had a "prayer, praise and testimony weekly meeting".. after an study article about obey, specially paragraph 18.. i have a wild guess, next year, just one weekly meeting for the borg..

  If they abandoned The midweek meeting, how would they push the flock to grow out in service?

  there's no way they could have a talk, WT study and a training programme for ministry all in a single 1.5-2 hour meeting.

  Both have the potential of being true. In their We Looovvee Yueww mentality they could announce that, "the governing body is pleased to announce they have approved the decision that just ONE meeting per week will be held Sundays for three hours with the current two scheduled meetings being combined. That way brothers you can go out in service on Sunday mornings and meet back at your assigned group location for a simple lunch you can bring with you and enjoy up building association with each other and relating the fine experiences you had in your mornings activity and then enjoy your lovingly prepared three hour meeting in the afternoon. We know you will appreciate this loving new arrangement."
