Secret Elders Book? Bwahahaha!
by NotFormer ini remember a couple of decades ago when the internet was relatively young and the wt was at war with it, that they were battling to keep the pay attention book secret, commencing legal action against anyone who published it online (and of course, trying to out anyone who leaked it).
i think it was a norwegian skeptics organisation who had it available for download and dared the wt lawyers to come after them.. so i guess the new shepherd the flock book came out to try and put the genie back in the bottle and reassert some air of mystery and secrecy back into the equation.. so i typed jehovah's witnesses secret elder book into google.
colour me gobsmacked!

Exactly! I got in a heckuva argument with an elder one time about that very fact. I told him that the moment they put I.N.C. after their name it became a corporation and would be always run as a corporation. He of course denied that.

The "Branch" decides how much they want for the year, then "suggests" what the per publisherDoes Bethel decide how much they expect each congregation to cough up, while pretending that it is the elders' decision?

No matter how the votes for/against/abstain are counted the resolution always show FOR: All and AGAINST: None. Then each month that the accounts falls short they "thank" the publishers for remembering to contribute so we do not fall short of our "vow".So glad to be out of that hamster wheel!

this article states that since 1919, having left babylon the great in that year, jws today are traveling on 'the way of holiness" (a figurative highway) as it takes them through the spiritual paradise and leads them through to future kingdom blessings.. they say that 'preparatory work' of that highway began centuries earlier.

Fifty years prior to this my great-great grandfather was a minister of some note in England, even traveling an annual circuit to preach sermons to remote congregations. He was already preaching about Christmas and the use of the cross then, and that the soul was not immortal. He was what was termed as a "dissenter" against the teachings of the Catholic Church and the Church of England. Some time worn writings in his own hand state how in the late 1800's he traveled to Pennsylvania, USA to meet with others who had similar beliefs.
But of course the governing body has proclaimed that they, and ONLY they are the channel of Bible teaching. I would like to hear them explain why it was only the U.S. that had their "truth"?

Jehovah's Witnesses and Tattoos
by NotFormer ini was wondering about the jw attitude towards getting tattoos.. redditors suggest that the only jws who have them would have got them before they were baptised.. jw.org gives a meally-mouthed "true christians wouldn't" response.. but no-one (that i've seen so far) answers the question i'm actually asking: is getting a tattoo after being baptised a disfellowshipping offence?.
if not disfellowshipable, how would a typical jw congregation treat someone who got a tattoo after baptism?
would they really treat it like it is a conscience issue?.

JW's strictly apply Leviticus 19:28 NKJV ... "28 You shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor tattoo any marks on you," as a modern day command that one absolutely must obey without question.
Yet they turn around and ignore completely what is said at Leviticus 19:27 NKJV - "27 You shall not shave around the sides of your head, nor shall you disfigure the edges of your beard," with their mandated smooth face shaving rule.
Such is the insane cherry picking rule making of the powers-that-be humans that rule WTB&T$

My report from the "trying my patience" DC

pre covid attendance was always 7k+ this year 4500.. 37baptised mixed bag.
less then half were children.. as far as patience goes, it can certainly help you be a better person when dealing with others but needless to say, this having patience waiting for jehovah is pure b.s.!

If Jehovah were to solve mankind’s problems now, it could appear as if Satan’s rulership were having a measure of success. They really went on about that. No one could provide any explanation of why Jehovah solving problems would appear that it was Satan. Wouldn't God solve the problems and also provide proof that it was HE would did it?At least I had the satisfaction of providing some companionship for my elderly friend, a meal at a restaurant, and a bit of relief from being stuck in his home 24/7 with ZERO visits from any of the big wheels or important ones in his congregation.
The lack of any genuine "love" shown by JW's tries my patience with those hypocrites!
