  CL&M part Jan 4 - annual meeting service report - our outstanding experiences

  this was the first part in the "living as christians" section of the meeting tonight.

  speaker had two pioneers on the stage to relate their outstanding experiences for 2017. we have 23 pioneers and over 160 publishers in the hall.

  our territory is densely populated with single family houses, apartments and condominiums.

  The two billion hours reported as field service is beyond a waste of time and effort.

  Yep, an average of 241.9 hours per person spent to get 284,212 dunked. That is a paltry 7,198.8 total hours per person baptized. I had a WTF moment when I heard the 7.8% increase number tossed out, when the number printed is 1.4%, an likely much less if the ones dying, getting fed up and walking away, or getting booted out are taken into account. A comment was made about the 10,071,524 studies reported as being a sure sign that there were oh so many wanting to know Da Troof. No mention of whether that was individuals or annual total of cumulative weekly studies.

  The saying "Figures lie, and liars figure" seems to hold true.

  Child abuse

  i was talking to a jdub yesterday about child abuse in the organisation and this was his response:.

  "it has been known for kids to make stuff up.

  we have to trust the society on these things, also the legal process is there.

  Kids make stuff up?

  Not when it comes to sexual molestation, especially very young children. I know of a fellow whose JDub wife left him for another JDub, took their two year old daughter, and less than one year later the poor little girl was waking up screaming from nightmares. When her dad asked why on one of his visitation weekends she described in perfect detail the type of sexual rape that the mom's Jdub boyfriend was forcing on the little girl.

  When the dad confronted the eldurrs in the mom's town they used that same goddamned excuse. The girl makes up stories! Nothing ever done about it! Well except for the dad getting threatened with DF'ing if he pursued it. He did, and he was!

  the jist was that we all should sing.

  then the first 6 or 8 paragraphs describe how early bible accounts have trained and set aside musicians to do the singing while everyone else listened.. the songs they have put out have no soul, rhythm, or soothing melodies as a whole.

  the old hymns are some real music, even if you don't agree with the "teachings".. there is no admission of poetry using archaic language at times for affect or to add to the rhyme, they have to have everything agree with the grey bible.. anyone speak foreign languages?

  SHALL?? No longer in use??

  I guess these brainiacs in NY have never had to read a certain large Fortune 500 company's equipment installation standards, operating procedures manuals, safety manuals, or DOT compliance instructions.

  Of course it would take more than a third grade "simplified" education to do so and then comprehend what was just read!

  Did You Go To Meetings in Very Inclement Weather?

  living in new england means having lots of snow and cold.

  elders were very reluctant to cancel or reschedule a meeting due to the weather.

  i lived 3 towns away from the kingdom hall and if it was icy and treacherous my vote would always be to cancel the meeting....and forget about rescheduling!.

  For the last five or six years every Sunday meeting on Super Bowl Sunday has been cancelled "due to inclement weather", but all the JDub Bowl parties come off without a hitch. things that make you go HMM....

  There are several "singers" at the hall where I go who are truly, severely, tone deaf. They should be asked NOT to sing because it is distracting and their singing ruins the collective harmony.

  I hear that! There is a yahoo in my area that sounds like he is trying to out Dylan Bob Dylan. He can't carry a tune in a bucket, yet he nearly yells the words. No singing just saying the words as loud as he can! And the one he yells the loudest? Gee-HO'-Vah!

  QFR - Posting JW publications on a personal website/social media

  the following is a qfr from the april, 2018 watchtower.

  just a couple of articles back the organization was explaining how jws need to be encouraging and even when admonishing congregations jesus would start out with encouraging words.

  we see none of this in the qfr, rather, it is heavy handed and legally incorrect.. why is it not permissible to post publications of jehovah’s witnesses on a personal website or on social media?.

  here's a few little gems from the latest watchtower.. 5 many today think that to be truly free, they must be able to do anything and everything they want to do, regardless of the consequences.. this statement is just ridiculous, any normal functioning individual understands the necessity for restrictions, for their own protection and justice as well as for others.

  it's a very childish statement with no substantiation and written only to create a perception in jw minds of how worldly people are selfish to the point of being reckless and unrestrained.

  they liken adam and eve's sinning which resulted in disaster as being like a pilot not following their designated flight path and make this commenthowever, if the pilot chose to disregard that guidance and fly any route he desired, the result could be disastrous.. this is a very bad analogy because when adam and eve sinned, they had already been forewarned of their disaster to follow.

  Other suggestions for encouragement include words of comfort, reading from the Watchtower or JW org and singing a song together. I must have missed it but I saw no suggestion about reading from the Bible.

  Aww...ol' FedUp has already formulated a comment on THAT paragraph if by some stroke of luck I get called on.

  "We see many listed suggestions to encourage someone else. While it is not listed in the paragraph we MIGHT even find a small measure of encouragement from actually reading GOD'S words as recorded in the Holy Scriptures by reading from The Bible!"

  I can hardly wait.....

  todays watchtower study is all about singing complete with instructions on how to sing.,............

  "but we all have the responsibility to sing praises to jehovah.

  so hold your songbook up high, lift your head, and sing with enthusiasm!".

  Good grief....they are even micro managing your singing. They treat the rank and file like they are 5 years old

  I think you give them too much credit. They treat JDubs like they are a mentally challenged two year old.
