Youth and Spiritual Goals in this week's WT study (Are you F-ing kidding me?)
by TerryWalstrom ini regret following the wrong goals when i was a young person.
such as?such as spending a hundred hours a month of my precious youth rapping my unwrinkled knuckles on doors and waving soon-to-be-obsolete religious messages in front of aghast householders.such as spending my 20th, 21st, and part of my 22nd years in prison imagining anything useful was happening or that i was pleasing the big guy in the sky.such as taking a crappy job as a janitor and trying to support my family on beans and rice while i peddled cult materials, arguing with people who were better educated about fantasy scenarios i was brainwashed into parroting.such as making excuses for my depressing existence for my empty feeling of constant depression by consoling myself that soon billions of people would be annihilated--except for me and those i was able to convince to waste their time too.thanks, watchtower for twenty years of dry rot for my brain, a jehovah sized hole in my heart, and a great big "thank you" in the form of shunning from all my wonderful spiritual brothers and sisters for all my efforts.sure am i glad i didn't "waste" my youth on education, career, lifelong friends, and (gasp) fun!i was 12 years old when i was introduced to the watchtower and the kingdom hall.23 years later, i walked out a free man.the emotional damage took decades to reconcile.i'm 71 and i'd be thrilled to have those 23 years back!the watchtower is one of the most insidious time-devouring organizations on our planet.thanks for nothing!____________________the above is in answer to:.

many...followed the wrong goals...youths who...focused on theocratic goals will be deeply satisfied with the choices they made.
I noticed when the words are "simplified" that it appears to be a manipulative comparison. It gives the impression that there are ONLY two choices. And of course WT does not fail to use this article to bash education or a well-paying job...AGAIN! I guess that is why there are so many physically broke down old men (and some women) who are still having to find any menial job they can, for pennies on the dollar compared to educated people, well into their late seventies just to manage a pitiful home and lousy food! I did not buy into the tripe; and now while they are struggling I am comfortable, living in a paid off home, doing what I want to when I want to, reasonably healthy, and still looking at another few decades of life to enjoy!

Went to a door. Rang the bell. Young girl answers door wearing nothing but a smile.
Fortunately it was the other fellows door so I could stare to my hearts content. He stammered out his name, and forgot mine. Introduced me by the wrong name. Turned out the name he used was her cousin! Had a good laugh, and have always wished I could have bedded her!

I thought, hmmm... how is this helpful to the organization?
The governing popes need to get their hours and B.S number up for extra bragging rights. Each B.S. will be awarded to them in proportion to their seniority as a WT pope. Then at the end of the year they will guilt the R&F with the, "If WE can do THIS MUCH and still rule over 8,000,000 peoples lives, surely YOU can DO MORE!!!"

"Jehovah's Organization"
by Wild_Thing ini was thinking about this phrase.
when you get baptized, you belong to "jehovah's organization".
when you go out in field service, you are.

I have made that comment/question to most of the JDubs I know. It gets me the "squint eye" and a frown every time, but I keep on saying it. "Why do you elevate an organization to a position equal to God?" Then I let t hem know I will put God's word above that of the WT. I answer to God, not WT. (we all know where I got THAT idea.)

Tonight’s meeting
by lastmanstanding inthis post is for the lurking dub.
the pimc (physically in, mentally confused) lurker dub.
the guy who reads the watchtower stuff and scratches his head, sure something is amiss but not sure of what’s really happening.. it may also be of some interest to those curious of the nuts and bolts of watchtower’s methods of scripture twisting.. in tonight’s “digging for spiritual gems: (8 min.

I also noted that the WT used an incorrect term in this question, Lu 8:3—How were these Christians “ministering” to Jesus and the apostles?
It wasn't until sometime later, according to the Bible, that they were called Christians. The WT can't even get THAT right!

Jesus set the principle “...whoever is not against you is for you.”
One person made that comment and finished with "because the Christian congregation had not yet been formed. Hence, it was not required that the man physically accompany Jesus."
Of course brother unforgiving, rigid, uber-elder popped up with, "Now that there is a congregation the only ones that can be for us are in the congregation, no matter how kind, or helpful they may be. If they are not part of the congregation they are against us!"

JWs and Guns.
by blownaway ini was told shooting guns and collecting them was not something a jw should do.
when i lived way up north us it was more of a deer hunting group and so some guns were ok, when i moved to florida it was different.
most people in the hall were not hunters.

They could not answer my questions very well and it was just the old crap "it wold be better to be killed then bring reproach on Jehovah's name. " Anyone here carry CCW [concealed hand gun]?
Yes. I have a small "arsenal". Mostly historic firearms from the 1800's. Although I do carry a .45 semi-auto. I have found it is lighter and easier to carry than a cop. And JW's always preach about sins of omission being just as bad as sins of commission. So I refuse to "be killed" by not doing anything when I may have the means to protect my life. It is just as important as some a55hole criminal who would never be punished for his crime. That is not bringing reproach on anyone.
*** g 6/08 p. 11 When Is Self-Defense Justified? ***
The Bible thus indicates that a person may defend himself or his family if physically assaulted. He may ward off blows, restrain the attacker, or even strike a blow to stun or incapacitate him. The intention would be to neutralize the aggression or stop the attack. This being the case, if the aggressor was seriously harmed or killed in such a situation, his death would be accidental and not deliberate -

Are Jehovah's Witnesses selfish??
by stuckinarut2 inis the average jehovah's witness selfish and self-centred?.
i know, i know...many will object and say "no - preaching is the most selfless thing a jw can do.
it saves others lives...".

Is the average Jehovah's Witness selfish and self-centred?
That would be putting it mildly!

Circuit Assembly Experiences
by Tallon inmany years ago, in the congregation i attended at the time, there was a brother who had endured bad health over many years.
as result he underwent a number of operations - a couple being life saving operations.
at one or two circuit assemblies he was interviewed on the platform where he related how he endured ill health.. for me, i felt very uncomfortable listening to his experience and, i actually felt embarrassed for him because i have never been one to speak of any health issues i had, let alone publicise it from the platform.

What I think would be uncomfortable, but maybe necessary, might be for somebody to open up on the platform how they were abused by an elder as a little girl. And how the elders wouldn't listen because there weren't two witnesses and told them not to go to the authorities. Now that's an uncomfortable story people in the audience need to hear.
If only that could happen! Maybe some prayers for that to....oh shit...nobody listening...forget that idea.
