  Do they believe that they are the only ones who will be saved?

  No. . . Many now living may yet take a stand for truth and righteousness before the “great tribulation,” and they will gain salvation.

  WT continually hammers home the point that to "take a stand for truth and righteousness" means one thing, and one thing only. One MUST become a baptized Jehovah's Witness.

  Only Jehovah’s Witnesses have any hope of surviving the impending end of this doomed system dominated by Satan the Devil. . .

  When one removes the WT qualifications put out for public consumption the above statement is now more closely aligned with what they believe. ONLY Jehovah's Witnesses have any hope, and in order to be a Jehovah's Witness you MUST get baptized.
  

  Newer WT state the following:
  

  *** w18 March p. 4 par. 4 Baptism—A Requirement for Christians ***A person who needlessly delays getting baptized endangers his prospects for everlasting life.

  *** w16 March p. 4 par. 3 Young Ones—Are You Ready to Get Baptized? ***
  Moreover, baptism is a requirement for Christians, and it is a vital step toward gaining salvation.

  No matter how they try to soften their beliefs in some printing, they do in speaking believe that ONLY JW's will survive their hoped for deaths of 8,000,000,000 men women and children. I have heard it personally, and the person stating it as fact posed the question, "How many people in Noah's time were favorable to him and his family? Yet they DIED right along with the rest of humanity even if t hey were not opposed. It will be the same at the end of this system. Being favorable will not get them life. ONLY being one of Jehovah's Witnesses will give them a chance."

  as witnesses we always looked forward to the new world but the talks were more about the incoming king and man’s freedom from oppression.

  although we looked forward to the good things ,we recognised that initially things may be hard .

  we would have to cope with physical work , and lack of many things we were used to today.

  Some years ago when I first began to "fade" I asked a PIMI man in the congregation, "If you were informed that 'New Lite' was that there was no such thing as a paradise, no eternal life, no resurrection, none of the things that JW's strive to run the hamster wheel in hope of getting someday 'soon', and all you had was your professed love for God, would you keep running the hamster wheel or live this life as the only life you will ever truthfully have?"

  I mentioned that JW's only do what they do because of the things they hope to get for themselves out of it, not out of any real love, or selflessness.

  This thread is much more important than the LLoyd Evans thread that has continued on far too long. Talk about beating a dead horse. This thread should get much more attention, but for some reason won't.

  Instead of starving the narcissist, he is constantly being fed.

  Agreed! That would not surprise me one bit if he were here posting under some pseudonym and watching the months go by with ever increasing posts just stoking his ego knowing that he is still the center of attention..

  episode 203 of netflix ... i am a killer looks at the murder of christopher chavez in texas.

  christopher chavez was a 22 year old ministerial servant and a born-in son of an jw elder.

  after a thursday night meeting and a quick bite to eat afterwards with friends at a local restaurant, he was kidnapped, taken to a gas station and forced to drive his killers around for hours while they were in the back seat.

  The Watchtower as far back as the early 1990s got to the point of refusing to state that a person should even attempt to use force in the defense of one's self or an innocent third party.

  Here is my go to reference when any JW tells me that I should never defend myself, and instead rely on God to deliver me from any potential violent attack.

  *** g 6/08 p. 11 When Is Self-Defense Justified? ***
  On the other hand, what if a person’s life is threatened by an assailant? A law that God gave to ancient Israel sheds light on this. However, if an intruder was fatally struck at night, the householder could be exonerated because it would be difficult for him to see what the intruder was doing and to ascertain the intentions of the intruder. The householder could reasonably conclude that his family was under threat of harm and take defensive action.—Exodus 22:2, 3.
  The Bible thus indicates that a person may defend himself or his family if physically assaulted. He may ward off blows, restrain the attacker, or even strike a blow to stun or incapacitate him. The intention would be to neutralize the aggression or stop the attack. This being the case, if the aggressor was seriously harmed or killed in such a situation, his death would be accidental and not deliberate.

  Which of you readers are being shunned by their relatives / friends ?

  a simple " me" if you dont want to say more--or a short explanation about who is shunning you and how long has this been going on.. i'll set the ball rolling: my daughter--her husband and children; my younger son --no contact from them for 40 years...because i left their religion.. (edit--i just noticed the typo in the header--if should be of ).

  Me. The soft shunning began perhaps 14 or 15 years ago while I was still PIMI and was "reaching" out to be used more.

  The harder I tried, and the faster I spun the hamster wheel the more I was soft shunned by even long time friends.

  My being vocal about the nepotism openly displayed in the congregation, the way guidelines for financial record keeping in the congregation were being ignored, the way a favored brother was openly practicing drunkenness-adultery-embezzlement-and tax fraud because he gave large $$$ contributions to the KH, and the way my parents were being treated even though they had spent their entire adult lives financially loyal to WT and members of the different congregations they were in was when the harder shunning began.

  COVID gave them the "safety" excuse they needed to openly hard shun me, although no announcement has ever been made.

  i have run across another jw death where the final wishes are for no service.

  3rd or 4th instance.

  another wanted a celebration of life which the elders squelched as far as i know.

  Neither of my parents wanted any type of "memorial" service. Their reasons were well stated and I fully agree with their sentiments.

  "If they didn't care about us before we died, we don't want them pretending that they cared after we die!"

  if i'd lost a job, business, or reputation for refusing to "get jabbed and save other people's lives," i think i'd be demanding to know what "science" enforced some of the draconian laws & punishments on those who declined the "offer.".

  When backed into a corner and no longer able to present a valid argument using facts leftists resort to personal attacks. Funny how some on this site will resort to the similar "You sound like a WT writer," retort under the same conditions.
