  some may be interested in this research from the scripps research institute.. this research and its conclusion builds on previous work, quote: "in a study published in the chemistry journal angewandte chemie, they demonstrated that a simple compound called diamidophosphate (dap), which was plausibly present on earth before life arose, could have chemically knitted together tiny dna building blocks called deoxynucleosides into strands of primordial dna.. the finding is the latest in a series of discoveries, over the past several years, pointing to the possibility that dna and its close chemical cousin rna arose together as products of similar chemical reactions, and that the first self-replicating molecules -- the first life forms on earth -- were mixes of the two.".

  I also don’t think that the Intelligent Beings responsible for life on earth were the same ones who created the Earth. Most people who believe that the same one who created earth is the same one who created life on earth. This is the result of believing in the God of the Bible who is said to have created all things, so it their default position the ONE Being created all.
  It’s very difficult for people with this belief to consider other possibilities.

  In considering multiple possibilities people often look for the right balance between the simplicity of the possibility and its explanatory power. The simplest theory with the greatest explanatory power tends to be a good option to lean towards. Postulating one intelligent being is simpler than multiple intelligent beings. If it’s possible for an intelligent being to exist with sufficient power and knowledge to create the universe and the earth, then this being also most likely has the knowledge to create life. This doesn’t disprove your theory; it just indicates your theory has more moving parts than needed to explain the existence of the universe, the earth and life.

  I stopped posting after reading that post too.
  I will continue to check in to catch the latest news from the insane world of the Watchtower.
  I have mostly enjoyed years of conversation and debate here, as anyone can see from my history. I hope some of my threads on WT doctrine and science have helped some.
  I can't no longer be part of the irrational and hateful environment that has come to dominate this forum.

  Cofty, I for one have greatly appreciated and benefited from all the information you have provided over the years on subjects such as the blood doctrine and of course evolution. You always provided well informed and very lively pushback on numerous interesting topics. The absence of your voice is a big loss to this forum and to rational conversation. I sincerely wish you all the best!

  I think we're veering off from the original question, which was about the origin of information, but in response, I would say that information still exists regardless of whether there is a sentient being to interpret it. TD

  The fire Stephen Hawking was alluding to, which bring information or laws to life, may in fact turn out to be something to do with observation.

  The narrator of this video concludes "Maybe something is observing the universe into existence, but it does not have to be conscious."

  Although you can't rule it out either.

  The puzzling thing is, there is nothing necessary about the particular laws which govern our world. It is theoretically possible for there to be other universes which have different laws to our own. This leads to the theory that there may be some sort of meta laws which eternally produces universes each of which have their own bylaws. Either that or some sort of selection occurred which chose the specific laws governing our universe.

  I think I get what you are saying TD. Quantum stuff is pretty weird and hard to speak about.
  Once this is understood though, it will be the Rosetta Stone for the theory of everything, and not just patio beer talk. Noble Prize winner Richard Feynman called it the "central mystery" of quantum physics.

  Stephen Hawking described the problem as follows.

  “Even if there is only one possible unified theory, it is just a set of rules and equations. What is it that breathes fire into the equations and makes a universe for them to describe? The usual approach of science of constructing a mathematical model cannot answer the questions of why there should be a universe for the model to describe. Why does the universe go to all the bother of existing? Is the unified theory so compelling that it brings about its own existence?”

  love is worth fighting for Finkelstein. Some would even say it is the best weapon to use against hate. Both are abstract concepts which inform real world behaviour.

  Science is very effective in explaining how things work. When it come to questions of existence, why anything such as information or laws exist in the first place? its explanatory tools break down.
