  There's one point that I disagree with Lloyd on, and that's the idea that Tony Morris actually believes in this religion. While there may be other members of the governing body who truly believe what they teach, Tony absolutely does not strike me as one of those people. In his case it seems to be the exact opposite. That man knows EXACTLY what he is doing. Why else would he stand in front of thousands talking about how Armageddon will be like the Vietnam war, with humans "blackened and splitting open"? He comes across as a bully, a manipulator, a control freak, and a narcissist who wants to scare the living daylights out of anyone who will let him.

  that is absolutely the number one rule that i resent.. i feel sorry for some of those poor dependent minded jws who can't find anyone to marry.

  all because they were only allowed to be with witnesses.

  Yet another reason to be depressed, hearing a member of the opposite sex talk about how dorky and weird JW guys are. I just wish they could cut us some slack, especially those of us that were born in. It's not our fault that our parents chose to raise us in a cult. Maybe if we could have been raised in the real world, and allowed to experience normal developmental milestones, then maybe we wouldn't be so weird and dorky. I struggle every single day to just feel and act normal. I try not to think about all the things I missed out on, even at my age. When I think about the man I could've been without the brainwashing, it's a struggle to even get out of bed.

  Does anybody else still have an obsession about Saturday morning weather?

  i am still enjoying the luxury of weekends to do whatever i want....but....out of habit i am still obsessed with looking at the weather for saturday mornings.

  rain on a saturday morning was a very rare treat and we got the morning off, although as group leader, i still had to go to the group just in case somebody turned up.. does anybody else still watch the weekend forecast with interest?

  (i am aware that this is probably a uk thing as we are obsessed with the weather ha ha).

  Sometimes I take it personally when the weatherman says that it's going to rain on Saturday morning, and then nothing happens. And sometimes they'll say it's going to rain, but it will be in the afternoon. What good will afternoon rain do me? I know that they don't control the weather, but I have to catch myself when the silly idea pops into my head that they somehow had something to do with me having to knock on doors.   Short-sighted WT ?

  it has always struck me that wt is so very short-sighted in many things.

  often, they are very re-active, and not so much pro-active in their reasoning and the way they plan for the future.. just thinking today, and have kicked this one around for a while now.. is the watchtower organization truly sustainable?

  Most of these elites are pretty old by now, at least in their 40s if not 50s or 60s, they don't need to worry about 20 years down the line they'll be dead by then.

  @john.prestor, Good grief man...How old are you? People in their 40s don't qualify as "pretty old". And nowadays, with advancements in medicine and healthcare, even people in their 60s will most likely still be active and in fairly good health 20 years from now. Look at Betty White.   When you were an active JW, did you ever have dealings with a pyramid scheme?

  i'm not sure why this memory popped up, and i was wondering if any others, when they were still active jw had dealings with a pyramid scheme involving other witnesses in the organization?

  at the time it was 1993, and my husband and i were still newlyweds.

  once in a while, we would attend a neighboring congregation because that was where he grew up, and some of his family was still attending there at the time.

  and we should all be respectful of each other's beliefs.

  A lot of so called "paranormal" events can be explained away with sleep paralysis and hypnopompic/hypnagogic hallucinations. Next time someone tells you about their supernatural experience, ask them if sleep was involved. Chances are they were just dreaming with their eyes open.

  @sir82 Don't forget about how they nitpick people to death over cart witnessing. I'm talking about that special form they have that determines whether or not you qualify for this sacred privilege. I don't understand how someone can qualify for door-to-door preaching, but somehow that same person isn't worthy of sitting next to a cart. If they start focusing more on the carts, they'll have to stop being so strict about it.

  I stopped keeping up with my time long ago, even before I woke up. I used to feel so guilty about it, but after learning TTATT I couldn't care less. I do as little as possible, and a rainy Saturday morning must be what Christmas feels like. I don't care how much I actually do, I'm reporting double digits just as sure as water is wet. And I try not to talk about the literature with people, I just hand it to them and talk about something else.

  in the previous manual, it was seen as a potential judicial matter, which is absolutely ridiculous.

  They said it was mentioned in the references, but I still disagree with the placement of this particular subject in the previous manual. I understand that their might be certain circumstances to consider, but to put suicide in the same category as manslaughter and sex is just irresponsible.
