  i was on facebook and a person i have known for a long time posted how trump is mentally ill and is truly a psychopath.

  a couple of her friends chimed in when i suggested that perhaps the fb friend was really the psychopath.

  a couple of her friends began to defend her but i was surprised by how many people defended the president!

  i have been sad to see so many groups and individuals say that the cause of these events are the mental status of the shooters.

  i have looked over the backgrounds of these shooters, and few had medically identified mental health issues.

  it is too easy to think that people shoot or kill other people because they are mentally ill.. actually, many or most people with real mental illnesses are most likely to be the victims of others.. i have been a volunteer with the organization called nami (national alliance of mental lillness) for 25 years now.

  Trying to spin the facts doesn't defer the matter regarding the sale of assault type rifles in the US or why you cant buy or own one in many countries today.

  Why cant people buy or own one in many countries today? Because those countries have different laws than we do. There are lots of things that are legal in the US that aren’t legal in other countries. Like blasphemy.

  First of all, It’s not. The gun of choice is handguns. AR-15 stories get more clicks, though, so those are the ones hyped up by the media. The vast majority of “mass shootings” as defined by the Gun Violence Archive use handguns.

  Second of all, it’s the number one selling rifle style in America. It’s very popular. Using your perception of it as being a “gun of choice” is like saying that “lead is the bullet of choice”.

  There are guns designed for hunting humans in a war type scenario/application and there are rifles used for and designed for hunting wildlife.

  Why do you keep repeating this lie?

  All guns were designed as first and foremost weapons of war.

  Please name one single gun design that did not start as a weapon of war.

  Hunting rifles which are designed for that specific purpose usually have long extended barrels for accuracy and usually have a powerful scope to see at a long distance.

  They usually dont have large capacity cartridges that you can attach as well.

  Wrong. The musket was a weapon of war and it’s barrel was a lot longer than modern hunting rifles.

  Modern scopes on hunting rifles have their roots in the military.

  The first weapons to have a magazine to hold extra ammunition was the Henry Repeating Lever-action rifle, a popular rifle with many hunters.

  Ar-15 or Ak-47 etc. rifles are not made by design originally for hunting wildlife.

  Neither is any other gun design. What’s your point in saying that? All gun designs are used in war. The “weapons of war” argument is bullshit.

  Every gun design in existence began as a weapon of war.

  Yea and cuz they are exactly like other rifles is exactly why they are the PREFERRED weapon for mass shooters

  They’re also the most popular gun in the nation.

  And if you do your research, most mass shootings actually occur with pistols.

  The media doesn’t like covering those, though.
