Depends on your individual situation. I’m neither disfellowshipped or disassociated, but I was a known and active apostate for a time so I was being shunned by all my former friends and shunned by family.
However, after the changes in March of last year, my father reached out to me to extend an olive branch. Of course he wants me to come back to the organization, but I made it clear I just don’t believe it anymore. However I was very respectful of his beliefs and said I thought some of the recent changes were steps in the right direction.
After that conversation, we continued to talk weekly, I visited them in person for a week a few months ago, and next week I’m seeing them again.
The major on paper change is that you can greet and talk to disfellowshipped people at the Kingdom Hall now. However they still discourage unnecessary association outside of the hall.
Active Apostates are still considered persona non grata.
Interestingly, my father told me he doesn’t consider me an apostate anymore because I’m no longer actively opposing the organization. By the definition of the word, yes I’m an apostate. However, he, an elder of 40+ years, says that the organization considers someone apostate if they’re an opposer, not just someone that no longer believes.

it’s almost like a lot of ex jw w become as toxic and his judgmental as jehovah’s witnesses themselves what’s up with that?
i also know conservative ex jw’s that can do the same so again i’m not leaning one way or the other i’m just noticing factual observations.

If you grow up in a cult that’s anti-gay, anti-sexuality, anti-abortion, where you’re discouraged from having wild parties, experimenting with substances, it’s easy to go full leftist socially after deconstructing your faith.
I experienced that after leaving. I didn’t know anything about politics, but I was full on Bernie Bro when I left. Then, the DNC did Bernie nasty in 2016, so I secretly voted Trump as a protest vote.
The aftermath of Trump winning is what made me shift right in my politics. I saw people acting towards lifelong friends that were Trump voters like JWs act towards apostates. And that triggered alarm bells.
2020 then made me shift politically again, and I’m a staunch anarchist now. Not anarcho-communist, but just anti-state.
Now, if I vote, which I did this year, I vote for the candidates that I feel will accelerate the culture towards a National Divorce or Balkanization of the Union.
I’m under no illusions - I do not believe an anarchist utopia is a realistic possibility. However, I think chipping away at the power of the state and supporting a culture of gradual decentralization is the most moral approach to politics. This is why I voted for Trump again. Rational self-interest.
This is my personal philosophy and I do not expect anyone to agree with me.

i believe that his involvement in propelling or influencing a leaning toward bible prophecy will unfold.
how, i can’t say but something tells me that this anomaly and outlier being trump is highly signifiant!
