the november 2016 watchtower is now available and it has more new light but i can't quite figure out what they are saying.

it relates to when the jws were released from the captivity of babylon the great (false religion).

i am not attempting to discuss that in this post.

Wow, you hit the nail on the head. I just want to say my experience being in the org. is the way some of the females have these soft voices, kind of like mealy mouth. I just don't by it. Do they think that is holy & making points with Jehovah. For a while I was a little afraid to make comments, because my voice carries. I can't whisper & if I do, you can barely hear me.

Regarding the org. now...for years it has been about Jehovah, with Jesus in the background. I guess a few questions from readers have pointed out that Jesus says he is the way, so now they are trying to imitate Jesus...& Jesus was loving...& the way the org. was dealing with folks wasn't loving....so I think they are trying to slowly, & I mean slowly, to become a kinder org. If you take a look at May 2016 study WT, on the back, ? from Readers...they mention re-instatement & it's ok to clap. Before you couldn't clap, yet they use the bible to say it's now ok to clap, but I asked a sister, well if they said that you couldn't clap, where in the bible did they see that? Well guess what ? Crickets....

JW religion or a way of life whatever it's called, they want new ones...they are going to ease up...Or maybe they are noticing the young ones are swallowing the kool-aide....

I like all of your comments. I'm there until, well until...I have a few friends in there & we all like each other, but you know if I leave they won't speak to me anymore....then again, if they were really friends....no more said.

Single Sisters Over A Certain Age Group Getting A Bad Rap

i'm new here; one of my relatives was a member on this forum a few years ago and told me about it.

anyways, as a sister who has been in the org since childhood and now in her late 40's (plus as a woman of color), i have noticed that a number of brothers have an ageist attitude.

they are very accepting of young women under 26 and rejecting women over that age, particularly those in their 30's and over.. is this an unspoken mindset from wthq (specifically from bethel), or is it that quite a number of males (sorry, i'm not sexist here) have this type of mentality?

This is just not in religion, it's the way life is. Some men love younger women, because it makes them feel that they don't age...Men, don't get angry, I just said some men. But there is no denying young folks look good, just as some of us did when we were younger. I won't deny there are some younger brothers in the congregation...yummy, but I could be their mother....

We live in a youth oriented society which makes you feel bad because you are getting older, look at the media, ads on TV's & Bill Boards, etc. Even though older people have a certain appeal to them, have confidence, yet gravity has taken it's toll. Many of us women when we were younger we turned heads...now that we have gotten older, especially over 50, you become invisible.

I notice in the org. you have to bring your own man in, or get Df'd get married, then come back.

Witness men are like most men....they are visual...they have plenty of women to look at, at the hall. Soon as a young thing comes in...they gravitate to the young tender things...

Witness men don't really like secure women....& that's why they don't bother with the older ones, they may feel that the woman knows her worth.

Many women may be attracted to places of worship dominated by men, because that's our make-up, we love men to be men, strong, secure, providers, protectors, that's what we were taught growing up. Some women don't have father figure, or no male figures in their homes, so they are getting their man-on. Most of the sisters complain about the brothers being pushy, yet, they say, I follow the brothers, whatever the brothers say & so on. So I find most of the women talk out of both sides of their mouth.

It's really not that complicated, it's the male & female dance.

Orphan Cow pretty much nailed it..."By selecting and choosing "breeding age" women, favoring the sexually available and attractive woman, the men have defined sexuality as their priority and main focus. You could speculate that the average male JW is rather low on the evolutionary scale...they have not progressed past the point of living only within their animal nature" that's pretty much it in a nut shell.

It's the JW men's lost if they overlook us mature women...but guess what? He'll get tired saying,"Do you remember when ..."? & his young thang says..."I don't remember that, I may not have been born yet or Oh, I do remember I think my parents......" eventually, that will get old...then they want to knock on the older women's door late at night to say, My wife (young wife), doesn't understand me, she's not mature...& so on...

What I've found out in this life...Water finds it's own level.

I'm kind of a newbie, but haven't seen anyone in the org. I'd give up some of my freedom for. It's the brothers lost if they are not checking for the older sisters...I could go on but that's if for now...

Hi Blondie,

Thanks for the link...so true. As many on here say, the org. does a lot of speculation. & you know what I pointed it out to a couple of folks...all you could hear was crickets. I also said, we better know our bible, because folks are not stupid anymore and they can read. It just amazes me that just one scripture away could dispel the entire paragraph. But then, I've been there long enough to not be amazed.

I wonder if any witness worldwide saw this but so glad to be a part of something they just keep quiet & keep the peace....guess so, because I'm not saying nothing to any brother about this, so a red flag would show up....Nope not me...

I'm glad to know ttatt...it's so freeing...if you let be. Love this forum, really I do. Love all of your comments.

It provides such a relief & release for those of us still in...thinking daily, how the heck do I get out of here....but in the meantime, this is one of the best places to be....besides the Beach.

He answered his parents in simple sincerity: “Why did you have to go looking for me? Did you not know that I must be in the house of my Father?”—Luke 2:49.But he said to them: “Why were you looking for me? Did you not know that I must be in the house of my Father?”

26 Joseph surely thought about those words many times. Perhaps he came to beam with pride over them. After all, he had worked diligently to teach his adopted son to feel that way about Jehovah God. By that time in his life as a boy, Jesus already had warm feelings about the word “father”—feelings shaped largely by his years with Joseph.

Now look at Luke 2:50: However, they did not understand what he was saying to them.

Joseph didn't understand when Jesus said he was in his father's house...Joseph was most likely saying...Ah,, Son, I'm your father, & this isn't my house. Duh? Now we see the society .....running beyond the scriptures or just making stuff up. Also, what came to my mind, at the meeting was when Luke Skywalkers father said....I'm am your Father...I was cracking up to myself inside.

Back to my topic....So am I the only one that saw this ? Just one more scripture away, would have destroyed the societies take on how they felt Joseph felt about what Jesus said. Joseph was an imperfect human, who had human thoughts...& no doubt he thought...again, I say, Son, this isn't my home. So the scriptures don't say that but they do say, Joseph (& Mary) didn't understand. AKA: Just didn't know what to say.

Anyone catch this ?

Maybe someone can write to the org. as a "Questions from Readers"....They could start out by saying they love the website and all the work the org. is doing, but from YOUR WEBSITE, it seems we are living in the last days, & you are telling your congregations, to downsize their lives...Can you simplify your life ? Yet, it seems the org. is still building state of the art bldgs. If the end is near, shouldn't the org. not be bldg. at this time ?

Point blank, just ask them. I bet you, that letter would never make it to the back of a WT. If it does, they will give a convoluted explanation, like if ARM or GB comes, the friends will...blah blah blah...

I would love to ask one of the friends that, but then I'd be looked as ......"THINKING".

"This is the underlying sick mentality in the Jehovah's Witness religion" You hit the nail on the head...I'm a newbie & have noticed they all have some type personality quirks. Oh, I'm saying we all don't, but they have a certain way that they get offended very easily. Always loaded for bear...ready to retaliate...They only see the bad, nothing good unless it's towards them...

I just wanted to add my 2 cents..I too try to stay down wind from them as much as possible...I deal with the friends when it's a must...but my association with them is limited...I'm a little nutz, but not mental, so I don't want it to rub off on me...we can catch bad things, but folks never catch good things...so again, limited association, until I find a way to leave...

The org. is not a good place for normal folks...

What was the point of the bunker video

Hi,

I kept looking at this subject, wanting to say something...but nothing came to mind that nobody didn't think of...It's a scare tactic. Plus it will drive up baptisms. There will be more baptisms because of this video. Young, & old. They need more #'s.. so why not scare folks to death...Many will get their children baptized before they even know what the word dedication means. This video will make folks make a mad dash to the water.

Then....when this scare tactic blows over, there will be a WT, saying...We should show a waiting attitude...by not having our young ones baptized too young, they'll back step & say, Jesus didn't get baptized until his 30's. As servants of Jehovah, we must be ready for GB, but we don't know when but we know it'll be soon, but live like it's soon but not now. I think that's how they'll spin it.

The org. is hoping the GT comes before the child abuse cases come to life. Maybe the GT will expose the child abuse cases...ummmm that's a thought.

Also, the video is supposed to encourage us to read & study the bible more so we can be like the brother in the video, who knew scriptures from the top of his head...just in case we don't have a bible or internet connection. Hey, did anyone notice in one of the WT's the bunker scene & one of the friends had a tablet...umm..so they'll be internet connection during the GT ? Interesting. I wanted to comment on that so badly, & I put up my hand but I guess divine intervention stopped me from saying it. I wanted to say, how wonderful Jehovah is...he is allowing internet connection for the friends, isn't he awesome? Wonder how the friends would take it...

I find you can make a point & plant a seed in the friends heads, if you say....Isn't it Loving how Jehovah...blah blah blah...but you must be very very clever...

The bunker video is supposed to be encouraging....NOT.

Change(s?) to revised nwt

i don't think this has been picked up anywhere yet.

the revised nwt released in 2013 is already out of date.

the second half of psalm 51:4 now reads "therefore, you are righteous when you speak, you are right in your judgment" in the online version where the printed version reads "so that you might prove righteous when you speak, and be right in your judgment".. fairly unimportant in itself, but i wonder what else has been changed without telling anyone..

Those scriptures are not the only one(s)...check NWT before the revised: John 8. verses 1-11 have been omitted, John 8 begins with verse 12. The scripture is about a Jesus and an adultress & a crowd wants Jesus to do something about it but he doesn't, he basically says who here has not sinned cross this line...when he looks up...everybody is gone. I found this scripture could have been used if one was re-proved or df'd. Maybe that's why they took it out.

Old NWT: John 8:1-11But Jesus went to the Mount of Olives. 2 At daybreak, however, he again presented himself at the temple, and all the people began coming to him, and he sat down and began to teach them. 3 Now the scribes and the Pharisees brought a woman caught at adultery, and, after standing her in their midst, 4 they said to him: “Teacher, this woman has been caught in the act of committing adultery. 5 In the Law Moses prescribed for us to stone such sort of women. What, really, do you say?” 6 Of course, they were saying this to put him to the test, in order to have something with which to accuse him. i have been reading rodney stark's new book triumph of faith, where he makes his argument afresh that religion is alive and well.

in fact he says it's doing better than ever, and we are in the middle of a revival of faith.

above is a particular quote he likes to use when refusing secularisation.

I find if there was no God, man would have to believe in something....example: Tooth Fairy, Fairy God Mother, Santa Claus, Leprechauns, & the like...None of these things can anyone see.

I think there is something in us that needs to have something to believe in....it's in our Nature.

Religion, I think the purpose of it has gone way beyond what the purpose was to be....I think, what the original purpose was supposed to be was to watch out for your fellow man, rich or poor, if you have it share it. If you see someone in need, help them, care for the sick or elderly....give up your seat on the bus/train, give someone your umbrella if it's raining...if you see someone at the store, & they are short a few pennies or dollars, help them, help someone across the street & so on....Treat folks the way you want to be treated...

But guess What ???? That's too simple...folks much rather say the Lord's prayer backwards, standing on one foot, yep, that's easier....or tell you what to do, but won't do it themselves...
