i think the problems the us and russia face are mainly ideological.

the cold war these two countries have been in needs to be stopped and common sense needs to be applied i hope trump can push thing in the right direction and that he has good advisors.

i'm all for these two major world military powers to put away their differences and find way to work together on common problems they face.. they need to cooperate with each other even in their cyber warfare.

It's all poli'tricks. Politics not a good word, if used in a work environment, office politics, play the game to get what you want. Politics aka: get them before they get you.

Since I was a child Russia has always been the big bad wolf ready to destroy. Every politician has been trying to have a relationship with Russia because the US knows they ain't no joke. But I work in corporate America, don't believe folks when they say they don't like this one or that one. Most of the time their so called enemies, they are dining with them or yachting or playing golf (which is how all major world, politics and business decisions are made right on the golf course) with them, so we can't always believe what we are told.

So now Trump and Putin are talking, ain't that what we want. Ah, I know it's what we want but not how we want it done.

Anyway, Trump wants a wall built for Mexico and the other wall is down, so is Mexico our new big bad wolf? Well at least the kids won't have to hide under the desk like we were told way back when.

Trump is our fireside president, just like FDR. I just like watching him talk, he real. He is full of himself but that's confidence. Like it or not.

Trump is in. All the reporting and exposing and criticism. He is the president like it or not. Who elected him??????

What changes would JW.org need to make to become a normal Christian denomination.

on average 40 thousand people leave the organisation yearly for one reason or another.

the experiences all over the media are proof of this.

Mind their business. And preach the word. And when the Holy Spirit tells them what the scriptures really say....listen and stop trying to sound smarter than other religions and tell the friends the real truth. Not mans truth.

Stop controlling and preach the word and leave the end to the one who knows. (Again if this is all true).

Why do ones that got out come back in?

i have not been to a meeting for about 2 years now.

i do not intend to go back but one thing has me baffled.

Because it's the familiar. Most people want to belong and there is a certain type of personality that draws them to the Jw's. somehow many of the friends never fit in or wanted fit in, so here comes this knock at the door and one is embraced. That's the attraction right there.

I read on different sites of ones who have left, but not really. Some even have their chance to tell their story but won't for some reason. Once a comment was said that Jw's can't expect outsiders to expose the org. but those who are in and those who left.

Some stay away so they can do what they didn't do while they were in then got their full and came right back. That's why you see some are really hard on the Jw's but some, not so much.

Someone asked about what could change for more folks to come in, I say if the org. would just mind their business and teach the Bible without any spin to it, which the Bible is just asking us to get along and stop dominating one another and take care of one another because we are all in this mess together.

Nothing wrong with some of the witness stuff stays in you, especially the good stuff on not being judgmental and only judge people for yourself not by what other people say. If they really imitated Jesus they would be a force to reckon with, the true essence of Christianity is when Jesus washed the feet of his betrayer Judas. Now that's heavy, how many of us would be at a function and be serving and sister or brother so and so come on line and you got to serve them, and we are not too fond of them. what you gonna do? What would Jesus do? Of course that is extreme but you have to admit we humans can be extreme at times, true? So if one still has a little JW left in them, don't keep the bad stuff that you know are not the right way to treat one another, religion should not have to teach you that.

I asked that question when I first learned of the anointed... all men and of one persuasion, same here as on earth. The 1%'ers still running things, so why die? Most people see in their own color. Whoever is running things gets to choose the color that represents all.

Soon there will be an Asian GB, once they get audited, they will have to diversify, just like the rest of the world. There is no one color or voice on this planet anymore.

Lets get this straight.... The USA had a black president and the entire world watched and pulled for Pres. O'Bama... the entire world was watching. That's monumental. So the color of the GB's don't reflect today's society.

They wont pass the equal opportunity law, oh maybe they will they squeaked by by adding some chicks, will they too not be defiled by women?

Watchtower teaches that Jesus dying on the stake is no longer certain

the watchtower has held for many years that jesus died on a stake and held strongly to this teaching.

w 1951 3/15 the above agrees with the new world translation of the christian greek scriptures in its appendix, page 769, in saying that the instrument upon which jesus was nailed was a stake without a crossbeam, and not the religiously represented “cross”; and that the greek word used for that instrument in ancient time meant a “stake” and not the conventional religious cross.

Hi All,

They had to. Because they don't want to stray to far from other bibles. In John 20:25 in part it says..."unless I see in his hands the print (mark) of the NAILS". When the wt shows Jesus hung on a stake, we see only one nail, because his hands are crossed (there that word). So now some reader may have pointed it out so once again they have to back peddle their theory.

I think they should stick with their explanation of why not to wear a cross. If your loved one was killed by a dagger would you wear that around your neck to remember them. That's a good one, who could reason that. The other is that Jehovah don't want us to worship idols. That's a good one too.

Just stayed tuned. The organization chariot is making skid marks towards Jesus. I think The lightbulb went on in the tower. Jesus is the way. Even Jehovah said whoever believes in my son believes in me. Jw's are so concerned about Jehovah sovereignty, they forgot about Jesus, Jehovah already said he would make his name known all we are supposed to do is tell of the Christ. That is what Christianity is about....Christ. Jw's are missing the entire point.

Foreign Language Field and Fading

hey guys.

first of all, i want to thank everyone for being so welcoming and helpful on this forum.... i was thinking about my last 3 years as a jw when i was attending the portuguese congregation and learning that language to bring in more converts.

interestingly, we were told not to attend meetings in our native language in order to immerse ourselves in the new language.

Hi,

I never took up a foreign language in the org. but what I notice it is a good way to hide or fade. It's when you have exhausted the area but still need validation you go to learn another language. A few of the friends have done it and they have more Jw's in the congregation then who they are targeting. Many have been at it for years, a congregation is formed of mostly witnesses.

Again, it is a good way to fade.....good idea.

i realize this is odd, but a "how you woke up" thread and the personal stories that are told which i know we all enjoy, made me think of this.

in helping my wife and a couple others get the ball rolling, i realized the thing that resonated with me, didn't even move the needle with them.

i wanted to rail on and on about blood, because that was my conduit to waking up, but for my wife it was about shunning.

Sad to say I was a thinker before I became a witness. What I have observed is that everyone thinks their religion is right because they don't do what God approves of. Only we do. I went to the internet while I was studying and found out JWs are as messed up as anyone else but they just don't know it. I continued this journey to see what's it all about. Now I'm baptized, I see what goes on in the inside. There is no love for nobody or anything that isn't stamped JW.

The lack of charity is just one aspect. I didn't need the internet to let me know that. If you have a heart a person will observe the org. does not.

Jws are narrowed minded. They like the sound of their own voice.

I think many on here wonder how I know ttatt, yet I'm still there. It's the friends. They are so needy and somehow I feel sorry for them. I'm the light in my hall. Friends always come to me for advice or encouragement. So that's my rub. But when I do help them. It's always with a scripture they never thought of. See meetings are stressed more than anything so the other Christian things to do, they can't or won't.

So you do understand correctly but I just added a little more.

I'm not out as of yet....but what is making me want out is that the JW's are too narrow in this Christianity thing...too limited...you can go out in the ministry, write letters, go where the need is greater, build whatever but it's all for the org...nothing for mankind....that's why many witnesses feel they don't do enough because WE DON'T...How can one hear what is going on all over the world and not want to help in some small way....even volunteer work...

I agree with Scratchme1010....it's about feelings of belonging....many are just there because they feel there is that word again, that it's God's org...that's the bottom line....also, some stay because they have lazy brains and the org. feeds them so they don't have to think then one day, they begin to think and so the bricks loosen...for some nothing bothers them unless it eventually bothers them...it's ok to shun or if a brother said this or that to you until it became you....

So what did not get me out....ME.

Human element seen in 10 commandments

i appreciate 10 commandments because they try to ensure law and order in the society.

however, i have problem with introductory statements that say: “you shall have no other gods before[a] me… you shall not bow down to them or worship them; for i, the lord your god, am a jealous god, punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.” (exodus 20:3-6).

1) this contradicts the characteristics of god described in mathew 5:44-48 where love is described as loving everyone without thinking whether others reciprocate or not.

You said it in a nutshell. Love your last paragraph... profound. Religion/Spirituality are to make you a better person loving, kind, forgiveness all the fruituge of the spirit.

God gave us approximately 600 commandments in the OT, we couldn't do them, a lot of sacrifices so God gave us 10 written in stone which was broken before it came down the mountain then God saw we couldn't do them so he broke it down to two. Love God with all your heart and others like you do yourself. Want to stump a witness just say that we can't expect others to like us until we like ourselves. Hence that's why it's hard to get bible studies, folks see through them.

Hi All,

I like the comment where how could there be a Holy Spirit if most of the brothers can't remember names. So true they even forget their wives names. They call their wives honey, darling, or other pet names.

So let's explore the Holy Spirit. Jw's say it's a force others say it's the third part of the trinity. Ummm what could it be or what whom could it be? For lurkers and those who still believe in God but not the God the org. portrays. Let's take a look at what the Bible says, shall we. It's always good to use the Bible for those lurk or those Jw's that need proof. They can call you an apostate if they want to but all you have to do is use the Bible and let their brains short circuit and all you did was show them a scripture. Acts 13:2: as they ministered to Jehovah (see that's wrong right there. It should read as the ministered about Jehovah how do you minister God. What do he need from us. Anyway back to the scripture "and fasting the Holy Spirit (in small letters) SAID, set aside for ME Barnabas and Saul for the work I have called them. The Holy Spirit is supposed to help you do what you can't do. You have to ask for it. It's a helper. But you have to ask for it. The Jw's can't ask for it because they are told what it is which makes no sense and that's why they don't get no help.

So by this one scripture we see the Holy Spirit is a what? That's how you approach it with a fellow Jw and leave it there to mess with their brains. Once I asked them about one of the books in the Bible where the character died but I asked who wrote this book in the Bible if the person died and was able to tell of the events that happened after their death, the Jw said the dead man. But I said it seemed the story was told in the 3rd person. That's when I knew most witnesses have pretzel logic.

Now is there a Holy Spirit, that's a personal question because some people didn't let the org take away their beliefs. We all have our reasons for believing or not believing, I am not here to judge anyone. We must not allow the org to make us bitter but if we were able to survive and get out it should make us better not bitter.
