every time i see photos of new jw parents cuddling up to their new babies.. every time i see people giving the parents new baby cards & gifts.. every time i see them having fun with their children.. i think to myself; 'you would shun your kids' .

if they don't end up being jw's.

if they simply publicly declare that they don't believe.

WHAT IS THE NATURE OF A PERSON WHO SHUNS ANYONE? WHO ARE THEY AT THE CORE, ARE THEY CAPABLE OF LOVE?

Here's a little story, I had a friend who was a heroin addict. Her parents put her in all types of drug programs. They tried everything to get her off of drugs. Well, they took it another level (aka: tough love). They had her arrested, then the system sent her to another program...Viola, she kicked the habit. Did her parents give up on her...NO...My friend died a few years ago, but it wasn't from drugs...just a health problem, but her parents stuck it out with her. This is just a little example of when a child doesn't turn out the way parents think they should.

I can't imagine someone that grows a child in their tummy is capable of shunning their child, oh yeah, you can get so angry with them, that you may not want to talk to them, but that doesn't last. In my mind ( I said my mind, so i't only my opinion), there has to be some disconnect in a person to begin with to be able to do this.

Another thing to think about we don't what folks do out of the sight of the org. I know some folks that have family members DF'd, sure in the hall, they are distant but some have slipped while talking to me & say they eat here or there or go here or there....

There are folks who are just hardcore JW or Not JW. To have love in your heart is not as common as we think it is. It's really a gift. Many at the hall have to be reminded to LOVE, because they don't have a clue of what it is....Love has to be taught to some. Maybe some have never experienced in their homes or from anywhere. Ever hear some of the friends when it comes to the fruitage of the spirit ( we hear millions of times) they say, Ah, what great reminders...DO WE REALLY HAVE TO BE REMINDED TO LOVE. Either you have it or you don't. Again, many come from places where there was no example of LOVE. For some it comes naturally, those know they never had it so they want to love even if it's difficult for them.

The folks that can & do shun their own they have to be pitied. They are missing out on THIS LIFE...In this life, we don't know who's going to give us our last drink of water.

Hopefully the ones they shunned will rise above and love the ones that shunned them regardless.

What does making sense have to do with anything...I live here in the USA, nothing here makes any sense...we have politicians that go on facebook & expose themselves then still run for office. We have no shame....police incriminate themselves on a daily basis, yet some can kill in cold blood & still want to be cops...In the USA, bad publicity is better than none...Look at Trumps hair...come on everyone...that in itself is incriminating...marrying x amount of times....no shame to his game...he blurts out stupid stuff...that incriminates him, does it stop him ? NO...What these folks do on TV is just a show, they may even break bread together...I work in corporate America, I've seen folks fire a person and swear they are enemies & next thing you see them on facebook hanging, it's all a show.

How do I define the rich, those who are so removed they don't know what's going on...I do agree rich folks do donate, why because they can. Poor can't donate...

I work with folks who make a lot of money....I see what their concern is....more $$$. I have nothing against the rich, if it can't be me, why not them. What some rich folks do is cry with a loaf of bread under their arms.

Making sense....nothing in this world makes sense except 2 plus 2 equal 4. Does it make sense to keep talking about how Marilyn Monroe & JFK died...they have been dead for years...why keep trying to explain it...

It was monumental that we had a black president. Everyone was so busy worry about that, when they looked up, they had these two bozo's running....OBama would only be in for 4 or 8 yrs. The Dems. & Rep., had more than enough time to find better candidates. Trump is a business man, PERIOD...& he's not used to the word "NO". Plus if he gets in, he doesn't need any donations for his campaign. So if he gets into office, he won't owe anyone any favors. He can do what he darn well pleases..as he usually does. Hilary, well, she always wanted to be president, since forever...I got this thought, Hilary is going to run, she sends Trump all these emails to say, Listen I'm running & I need a mate to run with but I need to win. So Trumpy, I know the folks won't vote for you but to make it look good, run with me...& so folks there you have it...& those emails that Hilary got rid of where the emails to Trump...& she got rid of the evidence...I know this sounds nuts, but this is America, & we are still trying to explain JFK assassination....

Us Americans vote for rich folks then cry....THEY DON'T HELP THE POOR...uh? Why would they, they are rich....only folks that care about the poor are the poor. But a poor person doesn't have the money to run, so America is stuck with rich folks who want to rule the world.

i noticed in ps 105:15: saying, “do not touch my anointed ones,and to my prophets do nothing bad.".

so are these part of the 144,000?

Hi All,

Great feed back. It's just when I saw the word anointed, it triggered 144,000 thing. It could be literal or figurative, who the heck knows....but it's not the # so much is that they are not defiled by women. What the heck, so having sex with a woman is defiling....since when? I know what the society says, this does not mean that but that they are blah blah blah...makes no sense.

So many things in the bible don't make sense, but that really doesn't matter to me....What I have learned is that to be kind to folks, well to be honest, I knew that before I became a witness...that's another story...

I think that most folks that read the bible, just don't understand why God killed women, children, cats, dogs, etc. How could a loving God do this type of thing. & Since Jesus has been ruling since 1914 or is it 1919, whatever, what has he been doing ? Guess what? The org. wants to know too. That's why they TRY to answer the question, they are wondering too. Otherwise why ask? As they say, We must wait on Jehovah. & we keep waiting & waiting & waiting....

I love this site, it's makes you feel that you are not crazy....or spiritually weak. I notice at times when I may share something with one of the friends regarding the orgs. writings & they see something and can't explain it...it's almost like they short circuit....they don't see anything different from the orgs. writing and the bible...SAD.

I don't find the bible to be too nuts, just the way man interprets it.....

This week Bible reading is Ps.102-105. I noticed in PS 105:15: Saying, “Do not touch my anointed ones,And to my prophets do nothing bad.". So are these part of the 144,000? I thought the beginning of the anointed was at Pent. 33 CE. Am I wrong ?

The whole 144,000 thing is really nuts...first of all aren't they are not supposed to be not defiled by women....Rev. 14:4:These are the ones who did not defile themselves with women; in fact, they are virgins.+ These are the ones who keep following the Lamb no matter where he goes.+ These were bought+ from among mankind as firstfruits+ to God and to the Lamb.

Any thoughts ?

Which Scripture "don't judge others customs"?

i am starting to get to the boiling point, to make a long story short, i am getting hounded from alot of family and elder visits.

i sorta put a halt on the elder visits, but the family is starting in on me now.

anyway to get back to topic, what scripture is it that says something to the affect of that do not judge how some celebrate there customs or beliefs or something like that?.

Of course commentators agree it's not considered from the original texts. Why? Because, what it's saying is this...None of us, & I mean none of us has the right to judge another person. If Jesus didn't judge why should we. There are so many scriptures that say, we should not judge, because if we do, we will be judged as well. Basically, it's saying what goes around comes around. Jesus even told a woman, that she had been married several times & now is living with a man....did he judge her...NO. He told her not to do it again.

I think this judging thing goes over folks head. When the bible says, DO NOT JUDGE. Isn't there a period after that statement ? It doesn't say, do not judge, BUT....No, it doesn't. Now of course you can judge what you will or won't do, but that's the extent of it.

To be honest, I don't want Jehovah's/Jesus's job. I wouldn't want to judge anyone, it's even difficult for me to be on jury duty, love the time off, but hate when I get picked for a case...All you hear is, hearsay, I wasn't there. Plus I don't know the whole story.

I think Drifting away could use any scripture that speaks of judging...I think there is one that says, Don't judge, lest you will be judged. Elders have to be reminded, oh bro. you can judge me all you want...but, hold on my friend...your day is coming....

This reminds me of a twilight episode where, the man who was the executioner would hear the person who was about to die via electric chair, telling the executioner, I didn't do it, I'm innocent...then he says, "They all say that". Well, later on in the story the executioner is the one in the chair now...& he says the same thing that those he killed said...& guess what? What do you think the executioner said just before the plug was pulled..."I didn't do it, I'm innocent." Now the new executioner, says right back at him, yep they all say that...Another saying comes to mind...It's always the thief that screams the loudest...I have so many of them.

It's always ok when we do it, but let someone else do the same thing....we hang'em high...

I know it's difficult to wait on God, but I'm telling you, I've seen folks in this life get judged, because they were unfair or misjudged someone or a situation...& Guess what? I didn't have to lift a finger.

This is one of my favorite, it doesn't pertain to celebrating but it covers the judging, PERIOD. It's John 8:1-11 of which is not in the revised NWT. They took out verses 1-11, but in the NWT before the revised, it's still in there, so here we go. John 8:1-11:But Jesus went to the Mount of Olives. 2 At daybreak, however, he again presented himself at the temple, and all the people began coming to him, and he sat down and began to teach them. 3 Now the scribes and the Pharisees brought a woman caught at adultery, and, after standing her in their midst, 4 they said to him: “Teacher, this woman has been caught in the act of committing adultery. 5 In the Law Moses prescribed for us to stone such sort of women. What, really, do you say?” 6 Of course, they were saying this to put him to the test, in order to have something with which to accuse him. But Jesus bent down and began to write with his finger in the ground. 7 When they persisted in asking him, he straightened up and said to them: “Let the one of YOU that is sinless be the first to throw a stone at her.” 8 And bending over again he kept on writing in the ground. 9 But those who heard this began going out, one by one, starting with the older men, and he was left alone, and the woman that was in their midst. 10 Straightening up, Jesus said to her: “Woman, where are they? Did no one condemn you?” 11 She said: “No one, sir.” Jesus said: “Neither do I condemn you. Go your way; from now on practice sin no more.”

So, you can read this scripture to them or make copies & have them read along with you...No doubt they will say...where in the bible did you find this...Then, you'll say,I got it from the NWT, then one of them will say, I don't remember seeing that, then you'll say, it's in the NWT before the revised....& the revised version, the society took it out....

Then just sit back & take it all in...then let them call HDQ to see if you are right about them taking it out & why.

Catholic women diacons...

I think they will stick to this scripture: 1Tim.3:2:The overseer should therefore be irreprehensible, a husband of one wife,. Yep, even if they aren't called deacons, elders, MS, etc., They would never apply the scripture Gal. 3:28:There is neither Jew nor Greek,+ there is neither slave nor freeman,+ there is neither male nor female,+ for you are all one in union with Christ Jesus. Yep, this scripture goes right over their heads. In the future, look for it to be a new light...meaning they saw the scripture all along, but because they painted themselves in the corner & can no longer justify how they view women...trust me....the light gets brighter. They saw this scripture, but one thing about the org. they are stick to their guns...until they have no more bullets to shoot down other religions...

Eventually, they may be forced to change....but I don't think the men want to give up the CONTROL...it's like taking the remote control from your hubby, and or boyfriend...

Wow, you hit the nail on the head. I just want to say my experience being in the org. is the way some of the females have these soft voices, kind of like mealy mouth. I just don't by it. Do they think that is holy & making points with Jehovah. For a while I was a little afraid to make comments, because my voice carries. I can't whisper & if I do, you can barely hear me.

Regarding the org. now...for years it has been about Jehovah, with Jesus in the background. I guess a few questions from readers have pointed out that Jesus says he is the way, so now they are trying to imitate Jesus...& Jesus was loving...& the way the org. was dealing with folks wasn't loving....so I think they are trying to slowly, & I mean slowly, to become a kinder org. If you take a look at May 2016 study WT, on the back, ? from Readers...they mention re-instatement & it's ok to clap. Before you couldn't clap, yet they use the bible to say it's now ok to clap, but I asked a sister, well if they said that you couldn't clap, where in the bible did they see that? Well guess what ? Crickets....

JW religion or a way of life whatever it's called, they want new ones...they are going to ease up...Or maybe they are noticing the young ones are swallowing the kool-aide....

I like all of your comments. I'm there until, well until...I have a few friends in there & we all like each other, but you know if I leave they won't speak to me anymore....then again, if they were really friends....no more said.

Single Sisters Over A Certain Age Group Getting A Bad Rap

i'm new here; one of my relatives was a member on this forum a few years ago and told me about it.

anyways, as a sister who has been in the org since childhood and now in her late 40's (plus as a woman of color), i have noticed that a number of brothers have an ageist attitude.

they are very accepting of young women under 26 and rejecting women over that age, particularly those in their 30's and over.. is this an unspoken mindset from wthq (specifically from bethel), or is it that quite a number of males (sorry, i'm not sexist here) have this type of mentality?

This is just not in religion, it's the way life is. Some men love younger women, because it makes them feel that they don't age...Men, don't get angry, I just said some men. But there is no denying young folks look good, just as some of us did when we were younger. I won't deny there are some younger brothers in the congregation...yummy, but I could be their mother....

We live in a youth oriented society which makes you feel bad because you are getting older, look at the media, ads on TV's & Bill Boards, etc. Even though older people have a certain appeal to them, have confidence, yet gravity has taken it's toll. Many of us women when we were younger we turned heads...now that we have gotten older, especially over 50, you become invisible.

I notice in the org. you have to bring your own man in, or get Df'd get married, then come back.

Witness men are like most men....they are visual...they have plenty of women to look at, at the hall. Soon as a young thing comes in...they gravitate to the young tender things...

Witness men don't really like secure women....& that's why they don't bother with the older ones, they may feel that the woman knows her worth.

Many women may be attracted to places of worship dominated by men, because that's our make-up, we love men to be men, strong, secure, providers, protectors, that's what we were taught growing up. Some women don't have father figure, or no male figures in their homes, so they are getting their man-on. Most of the sisters complain about the brothers being pushy, yet, they say, I follow the brothers, whatever the brothers say & so on. So I find most of the women talk out of both sides of their mouth.

It's really not that complicated, it's the male & female dance.

Orphan Cow pretty much nailed it..."By selecting and choosing "breeding age" women, favoring the sexually available and attractive woman, the men have defined sexuality as their priority and main focus. You could speculate that the average male JW is rather low on the evolutionary scale...they have not progressed past the point of living only within their animal nature" that's pretty much it in a nut shell.

It's the JW men's lost if they overlook us mature women...but guess what? He'll get tired saying,"Do you remember when ..."? & his young thang says..."I don't remember that, I may not have been born yet or Oh, I do remember I think my parents......" eventually, that will get old...then they want to knock on the older women's door late at night to say, My wife (young wife), doesn't understand me, she's not mature...& so on...

What I've found out in this life...Water finds it's own level.

I'm kind of a newbie, but haven't seen anyone in the org. I'd give up some of my freedom for. It's the brothers lost if they are not checking for the older sisters...I could go on but that's if for now...
