Jesus and the fig tree, what are jws taught?

in the story in the gospel of mark, mark writes that jesus is hungry and comes across a fig tree.

mark explains that it not in season yet jesus upon finding the fig tree has produced no fruit kills the tree.. this story makes no sense if literal so do the gun teach that it literally happened?.

Symbolically, the fig tree represented the spiritual deadness of Israel, who while very religious outwardly with all the sacrifices and ceremonies, were spiritually barren because of their sins. By cleansing the Temple and cursing the fig tree, causing it to whither and die, Jesus was pronouncing His coming judgment of Israel and demonstrating His power to carry it out. It also teaches the principle that religious profession and observance are not enough to guarantee salvation, unless there is the fruit of genuine salvation evidenced in the life of the person. James would later echo this truth when he wrote that “faith without works is dead” The lesson of the fig tree is that we should bear spiritual fruit not just give an appearance of religiosity. God judges fruitlessness, and expects that those who have a relationship with Him will “bear much fruit”...

Does this not remind you of witnesses...they know the scriptures from back to front, they dress well, speak well, but produce no fruit...they sacrifice what they think God wants...being kind to another person is just to easy..much rather abstain from blood...extreme...

Blood Ban Not Going Away Anytime Soon

at the recent circuit assembly in our area (nov 19/2016) a talk was given in the afternoon entitled “jehovah will resurrect the dead” it’s clear that the prohibition on blood is not going away anytime soon.

many of us here have expressed the hope that this death dealing policy would be softened or become a complete conscience matter.

not the case, jw’s are urged to not give in and to focus on the resurrection hope.

Thanks for your reply. You both make good points....

Vidiot, you said it best...JW's wouldn't be special if they could do what everybody else does...so they searched the bible to find something to make them as you say...SPECIAL'ER...Love it...Yep, loving your fellow man is much to simple and how would we stand out as God's special people ? I've said this in other comments....I've seen folks drive by the friends in bad weather, while going to the hall, then those same drive by folks in their cars...will put in a slip for Aux. pioneering or full time pioneering...& they sit there until their name is announced & look pompous. Look at me Look at me...meanwhile they just passed by an elderly friend, walking through the snow. Then at the end of the meeting they get all the glory (I think that's why some of them are pioneers, just want to hear their names announced) Look at me God, I'm a pioneer...I know I'm making some points with you now...RIGHT Jehovah? At the end of the meeting, they won't even be humble enough to take someone home. I know some friends that will say they don't have a car anymore, so they won't have to take anyone home...One sister told me this couple had a car, but when she asked for a ride home...they told her they didn't have a car...well guess what ? They did...they just parked it in a place where no one could spot it...made it look like they were walking to the bus stop..Another one is that they don't have gas or the car won't make it that far...trillions of excuses...

What I'm starting to see or rather I always saw it but didn't want to believe it...most of them are mean spirited, not all but most..some started out being nice, but them witnesses can use you up if they think you are nice & so the nice person eventually pulls back so they won't be taken advantage of.

OC....I know that many folks do & will need blood in their lifetime...but not all...& at the end of the day...it's a choice...your choice not anyone else's...

Since the org. is neither inspired or infallible...you can finish the rest....

Hi All,

The society claims that one day we JW's may be put in front of the authorities & may have to give our lives for Jehovah...Well, it looks as if this authority is the SOCIETY ITSELF. It's like they are about to line us up & ask if we would deny blood, if so, then we would have to die right there on the spot...it's like they want us to die for Jehovah now...So in reality it's not the authorities that is asking would we die for our faith...it's the society, themselves.

Can't remember if it was Jesus or Jehovah, but didn't they say they didn't want sacrifice anymore? They were sick of what folks thought sacrifice for God meant....some cut themselves all over their bodies, in the name of God, some sacrificed their children, their animals...Humans really have no idea what Jehovah wants...well, they do know...but can't do it...Love Jehovah/Jesus, love your enemy, take care of one another...these are too simple to do...most humans must rather do something extreme to please God...

God never said anything about transfusions...it's another one of man's messed up interpretations. Back then those folks were pretty much barbaric....so since they thought life was in the blood....they drank it...thinking it would make them a little closer to God.

Just think of all the sacrifices in the bible...this is what JW's have come up with...what's the chance of any of us needing a transfusion...not saying it won't happen, but what are the odds...

What I've noticed is JW's are too busy to sacrifice......their EARS....just to listen to someone. Their $$$, NO....To Be Kind...NO...To not take offense...NO....to Forgive...NO...

Only thing they will sacrifice...is...THEIR BLOOD...& WHO ASKED THEM TO ?

at mine the conductor was somewhat awkward and minimal and there were nervous chuckles from the audience.

two people, including an elder, gave reasonable comments that it's okay as long as it's not extreme styles, etc.

but then another one of the elders commented that nothing has changed and they still aren't proper locally.

I was at the hall yesterday when the beard thing was mentioned. Really ? With Isis, cutting off heads, Trump as President, people rioting in the streets, cops killing folks, need I saw more....Oh & don't forget, we are living in the last days...& all the society can come up with is Beards....folks are dying out there...Really ?

I think witnesses concentrate on too much what folks think about them....when in reality, nobody is even interested in them. I think that is really what is bothering them...they don't feel persecuted....poor things....

I'm a witness, when I tell folks that I'm a witness....crickets...they just keep talking & they don't skip a beat....I'm waiting for some big comment...Nothing...well, it's because other witnesses say, oh they don't like us...I really want to say, They don't like you....

It's just another form of control, like DF'ing....but again, with all this craziness in the world....this is the best they got...Beards...

Did anyone else go to this weeks midweek meeting?

in the congregation bible study, the book addressed how "truth" is progressive.... 18 just as jehovah progressively revealed truths about the kingdom in the period leading up to 1914, he continues to do so during the time of the end.

as chapters 4 and 5 of this book will show, over the past 100 years, god’s people have had to adjust their understanding on a number of occasions.

does that fact mean that they do not have jehovah’s backing?

I was at the meeting...& yes, they did the same thing...also, not too many comments regarding the book study...Folks are waking up...they rushed through it. This book is about turning our love & attention to the org. But again, I see the lights going off in their heads....

Does this scripture come to mind: Eph. 4:14:So we should no longer be children, tossed about as by waves and carried here and there by every wind of teaching+ by means of the trickery of men, by means of cunning in deceptive schemes...

Well it comes to my mind...what I'm wondering is if they are not inspired....does that mean that they are not guided by the holy spirit ? But by what & whom?

I think they are still talking to the not so smart people of years ago....Not today....

In the video, they are asking for engineers, & other type of professionals...well, how can they, they condemn higher education....so where are they going to get these folks from....but even if you don't have any skills...they want you to volunteer to serve food...I heard a rumor that when it came to building, they had to hire outside contractors...anyone hear that ?

Love this....& so true...So really prophesy can only interpreted by what has happened? Sort of defeats the purpose of prophesy it seems to me...So true...so what they are really saying is that they shouldn't be predicting nothing until it happens...

The org. is now all about smoke & mirrors...yes the chariot is moving & the friends are on it, moving away from them...fast..

This week's bs, bible study help

hi all , because i'm useless and can't be bothered studying, i need some rebuttals for the excuses given in this week's bs , (i love how the acronym matches its origin) my uber dub father pleaded with me to study this week's book study as it addresses my issues with them being directed by holy spirit etc and how jah reveals things progressively , problem is i know there's a great argument to put fwd with proper preparation but i'm onto my 2nd drink of the evening and can't be assed , please unload some smoking guns i can take with me tomorrow .

I don't remember on this site who says it best....It's a cult...Yes, & I'm a member....trying to hold on .....

What've found out...it's not the doctrine, right or wrong, they are happy that the org. admits they are wrong, as a matter of fact a sister at the meeting said just that. She is happy to belong to an org. that can admit they are wrong. What many have to realize, not all, but most witnesses are socially inept. Most of them have this vacant look in there eyes...Ever hear birds of a feather flock together...I'm not perfect, but I'm not mental. Most of them have a mental issue, they don't focus...they don't remember anything....But you can show them from the scriptures they are dead wrong, but you know why the majority are there..."IT'S GOD'S ORGANIZATION". That's is right there...that's why the majority stay, knowing that the imperfect men can steer them wrong. They have an elitist gene...even if they were to be in another church, they would be like those folks who like to sit up front in the pews. Many don't feel worthy, so because they belong to God's Appointed Org. this is what validates them. Even though some are educated, there is still something missing in their brains...I'm in the hall, out in service...spend time with them & this is what I see. I don't spend too much time with them because....I'll be like them...& I'm fighting like heck....

So the bottom line folks...they don't care if the org. is not inspired & infallible....because it would never occur to them to ask....so if you are not inspired & infallible...how are you feeding us & by whom...

It also would never occur to them that the org. is building & building & building...Warwick is the state of the art construction...yet, we are in the last days...so why build ? One sister said, well, they are looking to the future, I slid in there (in my own funny way), what's the sense of building & we are in the last days...guess what folks ? It went right over her head...Yet, they tell us to simplify our lives...I'm not supposed to buy a new 100 inch. TV, but it's ok for them to have an orchestra, big screen TV's etc....

So again folks, don't bother to try to show them that their doctrine is wrong, that doesn't even worry them in the least...They belong to God's appointed org. & oh, another validation...they are carrying Jehovah's name...like a wife who is carrying the name of her hubby...so proud...I'm such & such wife...that blows up their skirt...

By the way, Jehovah, isn't that a Jewish name...isn't God the God of all nations...

Again, leave the witnesses alone....God will reveal it in his own time...don't think they can keep the ARC a secret for very much longer...

what is the singular thing that can be expressed bluntly and conclusively that might shock a jw to their senses?

if you could only carry one arrow in your quiver on your way to war with watchtower, what would it be?.

Thanks for the info. The org. can poke holes in this article because of it's from a worldly professor & in a Univ. in America...they will say, that's worldly info....I'm talking about documents from Jerusalem....a professor in Jerusalem. Something from their museums, their documents. Even though they would love to poke holes in it...how could they, it's coming from the mother land it self...

Has anyone on this site, ever been to Jerusalem...if I had the $$$, I'd like to do just what the person who wrote this topic did...go see for myself...

Who better than Jerusalem would know when they were destroyed....As they say go to the source...The org. would never accept anything from the USA regarding the fall of Jerusalem. I have an old set of Encylopedia's & they don't mention 607....but again, the org. would say, it's influenced by Satan...but what if...actual documents were supplied from Jerusalem it/themselves...that would be pretty difficult for the org.

Anyway, as many say on here...That's my 2 cents...

I'm on the same page as you...I make a good living...I help when I can...but the hall is full of users...& if you aren't married, they think you are up for grabs...meaning you are at their disposal. Most of the brothers like me but know I'm confident...I see them when I'm at a gathering... they check me out, I'm not a wall flower...I think they are afraid that their wives will copy me.. Many of the brothers sometimes like to correct me....guess what ? I let them, I'm not giving them no ammunition...

I'm finding out most witnesses are users....if you happen to be nice, they'll take advantage of you. Now I know why some friends keep to themselves. I like you don't fall for the poverty ACT...many act as if they don't have $$$, but guess what they do....that's an act of holiness...but when you think of it...it's an insult to God...he blessed you with a good living & folks running around saying they poor just to make points with God...

I spend time with the friends but not too much...whatever they have, I don't want it....

As someone on here said...after all these years...only 1 black GB...guess that had to fill the affirmative action clause...& another one on here said the org. is run by white men..so when I first came into the truth & saw all the anointed were white...I thought to myself, what's the difference...so,they run things now & in the future, so where is this paradise ????? It's the same set-up...

Great topic....smart to go to the UN for yourself....Now, what I'm waiting for is someone to go to Jerusalem & find out the real date of it's destruction....I can't go at this time because of I'm a caregiver. Who else would know when they were destroyed...no doubt they have the real truth...Wonder how many JW's went to Jerusalem & never thought to ask or did ask & found out it was not 607 or 609, I forget....The org. can discredit all information that comes from the world but from the actual place ...NO....& if there were any information that was found in Jerusalem, how would the org. re-act....
