  my son and daughter can do so.age 75 has cheated me a bit in this regard.what sort of things have you memorized (whether useful or useless)?i can recite the entire rime of the ancient mariner to this day, btw.there are many so-called tricks for remembering things that can be easily learned and i've read all or most of those books.the amusing thing about such memory is this: nobody cares!

  When I was in grade 7 we did a lesson on public speaking. It could be a story or poem or experience but it was to be said in front of the auditorium in front of the class.

  My mom had a lot of old books on Irish poems. I randomly picked one out. I sat with her and started reciting it. Within the first 10 minutes I was memorizing it. She told me that it would stay with me for life. 40 years later she was right.

  15 years ago during some adversity in my life I memorized Psalm 119. In the contemporary English version Bible. 176 verses. Did 8 verses in the morning and 8 at night. Felt good.

  They will tell you that the New Testament is speaking to anointed Christians. With a heavenly hope. So the GB claims to be from the anointed class so they can claim that they are the faithful and discreet slave.

  is the fact that no god/god ever communicates with us evidence that no god/god exists?

  i think it is very strong evidence that no personal god/god exits, especially a benevolent god who wants humans to know him him/her/it, to obey him/her/it, and/or to love him/her/it.

  since no god/god communicates to us (including those who sincerely want communication with the/a god/god), wouldn't it be sensible for those who pray to what they believe is the/a god/god to cease all efforts to communicate to a god/god?

  @longlivetherenegades. No victim here at all. Just trying to have a conversation. I have love for everyone.

  The practice of disfellowship is from the Bible. 1 Cor. 5:11.

  If someone is living an immoral life they are mercifully warned two times. Then disfellowship is taken. It’s like a cancer you have to protect the congregation and also try to show the wrongdoer that this isn’t acceptable way for a Christian to live. If I was living this way I would totally understand and would accept this way of punishment.

  Whenever the 4 Hebrew letters for Gods name appear in the Hebrew manuscripts of the Bible, the churches have almost invariably substituted the title “Lord” in their translations. In English the letters for His name JHVH or YHWH. How can you get Lord out of that? It does not even remotely resemble the personal name of God, which with vowels added,is Jehovah or as some prefer Yahweh. I have no idea where you got the pagan origins from.

  I don’t know where you came up with that I dont like calling Jesus to give glory to the Father. We would all be dead without Jesus. He gave His life for us.

  Again I don’t see how I’m changing the goal posts. I’m pointing out that the trinity doctrine is used by a lot of Christian churches and it is a false doctrine and Jehovahs Witnesses do not. Going back to the OP saying that what truths do they have?

  The vast majority of Christian churches believe in the trinity then. The most popular ones.

  So Jehovah is His name. What organization has made his name known like the Witnesses have?

  I feel like you just have a hate on for them.

  I just mentioned the trinity. All of the Christian churches are using a pagan doctrine.

  So they got that right.

  Jehovah is his name. I agree. What difference does it make where it came from as long as it’s getting known?

  How about the trinity doctrine? All of Christendom believe this. JWs teach a real truth that is essential in worshiping God. John 4:23.

  Not a born in JW here. Went on a search for truth. The organizations leaders are off many times with predictions and outlandish things they say I will concede this but this organization has got some things right.
