I was in Northern New Jersey too. With lots of Bethelites. I stepped down and walked out and never returned, that was 30 years ago.
I don't regret it!
ten years ago, truthseeker and his family and other witnesses who were moving to different congregations were given a congregation leaving party at a community hall in new jersey.
i had been planning my slow fade from the congregation for a while.
i grew up in the south coast of england as a third generation jw and moved to america in july 2001. .

what is included in the publisher cards and other information when you transfer from one congregation to another?
i was privately reproved and may be moving to a congregation where there are brothers i rather not know why i was privately reproved.
is the fact i was privately reproved visible but not the reason why?
As far as I'm aware, EVERYTHING goes. In fact, the elders within both congregations will eventually talk. Your new elders will no doubt want to know personally from your old elders what type of person you are.
here in spain we have just had a special visit from the central branch representative (well i'm not sure what his position is) and in his talk he mentioned an episode in which an apostate and his supporters were expelled from bethel in the early 30s under rutherford's rule.
i didn't catch the name, it was something like "shutter" or "shulter".
this event was mentioned to bring attention to a woman who was very close to this apostate and just because of that she was unfairly expelled from bethel as well, but she was "humble" and "content" enough to leave the matter on jehovah's hands and she was reaccepted in bethel after a while.
I have Salters books
so i just finished watching the netflix series "seven seconds", about a police cover up of a black teenager killed by a police officer in a hit and run.
it was filmed in jersey city, nj at the end of the last episode as the camera panned the area, they showed the jersey city assembly hall.
i actually helped restore that building and helped in building the addition..
Yes, it was very good. enjoyed it.
i consider myself an amateur watchtower history buff.
i have always read that maria frances ackley russell, charles taze russell's first and only wife, went to a teacher training college and was a teacher for a number of years before marrying russell.
but, i have never seen proof that she truly did finish college and became a certified teacher.
Just for the record, her name is actually pronounced MORIAH

it’s me again, your favorite greek philosopher xdd.. i was wondering if any ex-jws around here have since indetified with other christian denominations.
if that is the case for you, how has it been?
do you feel more welcome?
I've been affiliated with an independent Bible Students group, they are NOT associated with any of the organized groups like the DAWN or the PBI. Just a small group that gets together on Sunday in private homes and study the scriptures.
don't know if this is a global thing but i've just been told by a pimo member of my old congregation that a min servant has been given the task of destroying all old books/literature in the kh library prior to 1992.. could be the elders (or even one of them) on a mission to stamp out dissent as my ex-wife used the same reasoning to her elder dad that i used in my jc: rutherfords books containing failed predictions.. anyone else heared anything?.
the ms who's been given the task is a company man.
no hope of him keeping them or selling them on ebay.. they have some russell books in that library too.
This has happened before, I remember in the 80s a letter being read to the congregation from the Society, it told of all the branch offices they were building and how they needed old books preferably before 1950 to stock in their libraries, and asked that JWs and Kingdom Hall libraries send their books. This was done. I later learned from a high ranking bethelite that these books were destroyed.
i think i read somewhere that if you have been inactive for ten years plus, the elders will not try to meet with you and corner you to get you back "in".
is that true?.
i just realized that mr. spiral and i haven't gone to meetings or reported time for over ten years.
I walked away around 1992, moved around and then left the state. They tried to meet with me, but I just blew them off.
think this night about former and current leadership of jw.org, and the use of multimedia and broadcasting, imaging a theodore jaracks kind of gb member would be chosen again.. is there a way back possibility for jw.org to end all the multimedia circus and a go of the radar for the gb again?.
a one way street?.
g..
Russell started this train on it's a one way track ... and there is no turning around ... regardless of what lies ahead.
While it's true that Russell started this train, I would hardly blame him for the current mess the organization finds itself in. After all what Russell founded was a publishing house, keep in mind that the various congregations were all autonomous. The Society had no say in local matters. It was Rutherford who took control of the congregations, and turned the organization into a Brooklyn Vatican. That was never Russell's intention.
Of course we can say since Russell started the Watchtower, then he is to blame. If that's the case, why not blame the Adventist, if it weren't for them and William Miller, there would be Watchtower, better yet, let's blame Jesus, since he started Christianity.
