skin,
If you don't mind saying, which country was this?
we are nearly 18 months into this pandemic and lot has been learned and our behaviour modified to make things safer for us, e.g.
the wearing of face masks and social distancing.. many countries such as australia, new zealand, the uk and usa either have things under control or have vaccinated a large portion of the population.
therefore, given the very passive nature of the 'cart witnessing', i can't see why this hasn't be re-started.

here from new scientist magazine: .
whale sharks gulp down air to float vertically while feeding.
life 12 may 2021by christa lesté-lasserre.
Small blessings: Since Awake as at least suspended publication, if not completely shut down, we are spared the otherwise inevitable "Watching the World" blurb about whale sharks gulping air and the "this must be how Jonah survived" conclusion, despite the notes mentioned earlier: (a) they are not physiologically able to swallow a human, (b) they don't roam in the Mediterranean, and (c) the 586 other reasons why "man living inside a fish for 3 days" is impossible.
Oh wait, I forgot the WT trump card: "Jehovah performed a miracle". Huh, I guess Jonah's story was literal history after all.
So President Biden says.
It was the CDC wasn't it?
the news had mentioned how some stations were charging over $6 a gallon for gas.
they also brought up that the government had promised to come down hard on anyone that was price gouging.. my question is, is it possible to price gouge when there isn't an actual emergency?.
i think there are some benefits to raising prices even in an emergency.
Can't wait for the yahoos buying dozens or hundreds of gallons, and storing them in literal, I kid you not, plastic bags, to start blowing themselves up.
Just hope they don't take an entire city block with them.

Interesting - I guess different countries / regions do things differently now. Where I am, it is pre-recorded. That's the way it was all the time on the pre-pandemic JW-Stream service as well.

Just a slight correction, the JW-Stream programs are all pre-recorded. Elders would be able to download copies and play them for folks (I imagine really old JW technophobes) without internet access.
Also, some congregations set up a Zoom meeting at a pool (or beach) so the congregation can watch if anyone from their own congregation is baptized, if there are any.

gives the appearance of preaching without risking JWs having to answer some tough questions or being given the facts.
I suspect that if more people start approaching the carts with those "tough questions" (politely but firmly - don't feed their persecution complex), it will quickly lose its appeal among JWs as they have to slink off in embarrassment over and over and over and over...

They've said they will be far more cautious than "the world" regarding when to restart things. For example, all Bethels are still under strict lockdown, and will remain so until at least August 1.
I do think cart witnessing will be the first thing they do to start up their in-person witnessing, but I don't expect that until mid 2022 at the very earliest, they might even wait until 2023.
is it a requirement for all bethelites to take the shots?
just wondering!
.
That's an interesting question.
On the one hand, yes, the WTS says in every one of its missives regarding the vaccines, "medical treatments are a matter for personal decision, we do not make rules for others".
On the other hand, The WTS views its Bethel workers as a sort of "family", and the bosses (GB, branch committee members) are the "family heads". And in WT-world, "family heads" have the authority to set "family rules".
As an example, in the US Bethel, it is absolutely forbidden to watch "R-rated" (age 17+) movies, a restriction that is not written out explicitly for non-Bethelites (a non-Bethelite might get "strong counsel" from the local elders, but that's really different).
Breaking a "Bethel family rule" is grounds for dismissal.
In WT-world, a "family head" can make medical decisions for his family.
So....on the one hand, the sooner a sort of "herd immunity" is reached, the sooner things get back to "normal". Vaccines are the quickest, safest way to "herd immunity". On the other hand, it's a broad ethical issue - can employers require their employees to receive the vaccine? It is an open question, there will probably be lawsuits in the future regarding this.
I have no idea what the WTS will do.
i realize many here think that in-person meetings will return as soon as things are safe with covid.
but many acknowledge it will likely be 2022 or later when this happens.. surprisingly, many pimi jws in our congregation are not shy about saying they are fine with zoom meetings forever and do not want to go back to in-person meetings.
many speculate similar thoughts that are on this site....such as a combination of in-person and zoom meetings.
With zoom you can multitask to stay awake
At a recent meeting I counted less than 20% of the video cameras turned on.
Lots of "multi-tasking" (AKA eating breakfast, watching TV, reading a book) going on, I suspect.
