  To preach the good news of Jehovah's Kingdom.

  No, wait, that's not it.

  To protect its corporate assets and to avoid the payment of as much as one cent in taxes to any entity.

  Appeal, appeal, appeal. They will fight to the figurative death, expend all their resources, thousands of hours and the equivalent of millions of dollars in legal fees, to avoid paying any tax.

  And to JWs living in poverty due to COVID-19, warfare, recession, etc.? "Oh, we love you brothers VERY MUCH, you are always in our prayers, Jehovah will provide, but hey, not us."

  Parking Attendant Training Videos

  i know that all of the assembly/convention attendant training videos have been leaked publicly, but has anyone gotten a hold of the parking training videos?.

  i saw these about a year and a half ago, when i was still pimo.

  as bizarre and manipulative as the attendant video series is, the parking videos put them to shame.

  Yeah that's a good point. I only ever did the morning parking lot duty. The afternoon session would be a lot harder, where 10 or 15 thousand people are trying to leave a relatively small space within 15 minutes of each other, versus arrivals from different directions spread out over 2 hours.

  now with the covid-19 thing, are these guys going to be kicked to the curb again?.

  I used to do parking at every circuit assembly, and once I did it at a district assembly.

  It was in the bottom half of the "enjoyable" scale for assembly / convention volunteer assignments. Mainly due to the weather (we somehow managed to get the circuit assemblies that fell on the coldest & snowiest days of the year). At the DC, it was the opposite problem - you'd be drenched in sweat by the end of the morning, then have to go into the air-conditioned facility and hope you didn't get pneumonia.

  I can't for the life of me imagine why a training video would be needed. How long does it take to explain "wave and point, don't get run over, say 'watch your doors' and 'good morning brothers' as they park".

  a person could simply log into the Zoom meeting and walk away without watching or even listening to the meeting.

  In any given Zoom meeting, typically less than half of the devices signed on have the camera turned on.

  I'd wager that 25-35% of "attendees" at meetings just have the device signed on in the background while the person watches TV, posts on Facebook, etc.

  i saw this on twitter the other day and it blew my mind.. tyrannosaurus is closer to us than to stegosaurus.

  that is, when tyrannosaurus lived, stegosaurus were already fossilized and those fossils were older than tyrannosaurus fossils are today to us, by a good 20 million years!.

  in a similar vein, the star wars prequel movies are now older than the original star wars movies were when those prequels were released.. how about that we're closer in time to cleopatra than she was to the pyramids being built.. what 'ya got?.

  It is speculated that Shakespeare assisted with the translation work, or at least the English phrasing, of some of the King James Bible.

  Of course spelling was inconsistent in the 16th & 17th centuries. One of the ways Shakespeare wrote his name -was Shakspeare. Break it in syllables, and you have 4 letters (shak), then 6 letters (speare).

  Work on the KJV began in 1610, when Shakespeare was 46 years old.

  (JW voice) Now turn in your King James bible to Psalm 46. From the beginning, count the words. What is the 46th word? "Shake". Now go to the end of the chapter, and count backward, from the end, 46 words. What word do you find? "Spear".

  It's either a 17th century "easter egg" or it's one of the most remarkable coincidences in the history of English literature.

  invariably they were fakes / people putting in their friends' details for a laugh / "opposed" people or local crazies wanting us to call on them etc.

  Yep, my experience too. Mainly lonely old folks who wanted someone to talk to, or semi-nuts who wanted to tell you about fake moon landings or the hormones added to cow's milk.

  I agree cart witnessing will be first, probably will go on for many months before door to door resumes. We may see cart witnessing (masked up) begin in late summer or early fall. I expect door to door won't happen until 2022.

  Maybe they'll use the 2022 Memorial campaign as a springboard to restart D2D? JWs will be rusty after 2 years, so start with an easy "here is your copy of this invitation, goodbye" presentation.

  I think maybe KH meetings will resume in some areas around the same timeframe (6 months or so from now), but with reduced capacity. Maybe 1 or 2 field service groups meeting in person at the KH at one time, seated far apart from each other, and the rest of the congregation tied in by Zoom. Then rotate the groups.

  100% normal, all KH meetings at full capacity and usual unrestricted D2D, maybe some time in 2023.
