I tend to be a calm person.....trying to go get all worked up over things. My rule of principle is to "act and not react" (doens't always happen that way, but sure try to).

I am a very assertive person.......not aggressive.

I exert a lot of control in my life. I control my environment. I make my boundaries and stick w/in them. I am not afraid to tell people exactly what I think/believe.

This is completely different of who I was when I was a dub and the few years following my df'ing. I use to be hot headed, very stubborn and opinionated, crisis oriented, and very emotional. I was that way for many years, but it "just wasn't working for me"......

I had an incident w/my fist and a glass gun cabinet one day and decided I didn't like being the person that I had become. I needed to exercise more discipline and control in my life. Pick and chose my battles and not give so much of my power away to other people. I am reminded about how I was every time I see this big ol' scar on my hand reminding me to keep a cool head.

paul thorn opened the evening with a 30-minute set that had the crowd laughing.

an established musician and songwriter, thorn could easily work as a professional comedian.

I got to see Paul Thorn (and get his autograph/cd) last year when he opened for John Prine. He most definately is a great comedian/singer. He had me laughing thru all his songs. Another great song of his is "viagra".......lol

parental advice needed.......

i have a son who is in th 4th grade.

he is a "bigger boy"......his father is 6'2" and i am 5'10".

james is very tall for his age and is also slightly overweight.

Thanks everyone for the comments and advice.......I had absolutely no idea that this problem was so common amongst so many families!

My goal as a mother is to take care of my son (all my kids) and "protect" him from these bullies but also teach him how to handle this sort of treatment also. Therein lies my problem as a parent. I can protect him by doing a number of things, but I also need to help him learn how to handle this sort of hurt himself too. Sort out his feelings. Build his self-esteem. Know what I mean?

YIKES........parenting is hard sometimes! I haven't come to this chapter in the ding dang manual yet! LOL

well, i've finally saved enough and w/a little help from the dealership i am now the proud owner of a honda shadow 600 vt....not quite a harley, but it rocks!

i received a letter from a locally owned business that touched my heart.

craig sheppard is 7 years old and has a brain tumor.

he has little time to live.

Another way to help out is by letting people know that they shouldn't reply to requests to send greeting cards or business cards to Craig Shergold (or Shepherd or any similar name). I recommend making 20 copies of this article and mailing it to your friends and colleagues.

Thanks, Dede......I am pretty partial to my bike (it was my wedding present from Filthy). I am very tall (well, not AS tall as eyegirl) and at 5'10" my Heritage fits me like a glove. It is a heavier bike (~700 pounds) but I can handle it with ease! Only dropped it once...which was a bitch to pick up (not to mention embarrassing).

You got to get you one, dede.......it is a BLAST!
