300 bats?! That would be a site to see. Hmmm...we do have lots of bugs here in the summer.

Take a look at these beautiful winged creatures!
by scootergirl insome of you know that we live way out in the country, deep in the woods of northern mn.
one of the great things out here is the abundant wildlife that we see everyday.
last week we had a huge porcupine in the yard (which our four year old calls a hamster.....lol).

It is quite an experience, Stephanie, for our kids. I have to say that all three of mine have an appreciation for animals (domestic and wild). Thanks for the correct spelling ElmerF on the Grosbek. I am terrible at spelling!
NICE pics, Shera! My fellow bird fanatic! LOL

Wow, ElmerF, what a site to see! I would have cried too!
Speaking of which, last week I saw my budgie mate. It was the most beautiful thing to watch as the male wrapped his wings around the female. Very very moving.
We have lots of bald eagles out this way. They are magnificiant creatures to watch. Maybe someday I will be lucky enough to see two mate.
Thanks Stephanie and Big Tex. Yes, that is one of my favorites of Nathan. He was so ecstatic to be able to touch the fawn. The neighbors named him "Peanut" and he comes by the house every now and again and Nathan runs out and feeds him a carrot.

Thank you, Celia.
Patio, our neighbors found a Doe hit and killed along side of the road and besides her was her fawn. They guessed it was only a day or so old. So they brought it home and took care of it. Now, I don't know if that was the right decision, but it is very tame and comes into the yard. It is a Buck, and I think its days are probably numbered due to the hunting season out here. But it is fun to have it come into the yard and let us pet it. And, yes, that is our son, Nathan in the picture.

Galaxy, that is a Grossbeak. They are funny looking birds w/a predominant beak. They are pretty big and come in a few different colors.
Cameo, yes, I had a geriatric canary that I started to bird watch for a friend that was going out of town. This poor bird was 23 yrs old and had definately seen better days, but I fell in love w/him. His name was Buzz. His poor chirp was more like a chicken and he wasn't as pretty as they are when younger. We had him for about a year and on Christmas morning we woke up to him dead. It broke the kid's heart, but they knew he had lived a long life.

OMG you ladies are funny!
Copsec, I got licensed to do Daycare. Although I know it isn't a job for everyone, I already had a toddler at home and was getting tired of working for someone else and having to take time away from being at home. And by the time I figured in all my expenses to work, I could easily make that staying at home! I am licensed for 10 kids (LOL) but only watch one 2 yr old full time and two others part time. I absolutely love it! I can stay at home, get my stuff done around here along w/gardening in the summer time, do all my canning and be here for the older kids when they leave for school and get off the bus at home.
My plans are to only do this until Nathan goes to school. So I have two maybe three more years at home and then I have to try to find a job outside the home OR continue doing this for others.

I started working from home about 3 yrs ago and now I think I am so spoiled that it will be difficult for me to work for anyone else again.
