here is the thing that came to my mind: by isolating just that part, the part sounds rather hubris, shocking, audacious.

when the jw hear it couched in a talk and woven in with scriptures, they will take it in without giving a real thought as to what is really being said..

So when exactly does the GBspeak words likened to Jesus himself talking? Hmmmmm.... Let's see...

1. Is it when the GB members are saying nutty things in the broadcasts - many of which bear no resemblance to the substance of what Jesus taught. Maybe not the broadcast then...

2. Perhaps it is when they publish the Watchtower, other publications and videos? Probably not since they often have to correct or discontinue doctrinal errors/changes that get made. When could it be???????

3. Could it be when they testify under oath like when Geoffrey Jackson testified before the Australian Royal Commission. Hmmmm.... Since they don't stand actually stand for the things he said about it being presumptuos to say they were the only path to true religion, maybe Ken Flodin was not referring to these times...

4. Maybe it's when they give talks for conventions! Well...... they have said so many incorrect things dating back to Rutherford's day that it can't be their talks... Jesus didn't have to be fact-checked nor seek to bury untruths.

5. It must be when they talk at informal gatherings then. Oh wait, there are so many testimonial accounts of nutty unscriptural, unchristian things they said in informal gatherings, it can't be then that they were speaking like Jesus himself....

What is it then???? When HAVE their words been likened to Jesus words??!! Perhaps they speak through men like Philip Brumley who was just fined over $154K for misrepresenting the current role of the PA corporation in it's dealings with the congregations and with CSA cases. On second thought, that is the most unlikely time I would think since Jesus wasn't a blatant liar.

Well - I am stumped. Maybe someone can enlighten me as to when they actually speak words that are the equivalent of Jesus words. Brother Flodin - please weigh in. You read this forum I am sure.

i had a conversation about this 22 carat gold contradiction with a couple of zealous jw's a couple of days ago.. even their personal "explanations" contradicted each other as they tried justify their cognitive dissonance!.

an absolute delight to witness such absurdity.. "after all, no one will be allowed to practice vile things in the new world.

the unrighteous must have practiced these vile things [john 5:29] before their death.

When WTC attempts to weave the scriptures into their clumsy narrative, it becomes word salad. This is a classic example. Many paragraphs are needed to EXPLAIN how this can be true.

Similar to this is the doctrine of the 144K. Thousands and thousands of uncompromising Christians died on stakes at the hands of Rome, but WTC invalidates their integrity by saying that the number was not filled until the 1930's.

Beware of EVERYTHING they say and publish.

Has the Governing Body EVER apologized for anything?

geoffrey jackson testified to the arc that the governing body has apologized for things in the past, so an apology to sexual abuse victims is "perceivable".

what has the governing body ever apologized for?.

No. They feel no need to apologize to ANYONE because EVERYONE is below them.

They have no humility - it is not part of their DNA and NEVER will be.

Does anyone know any narcissists who have offered sincere apologies? I really would like to know. Any takers?

What happened in the 90’s is that publishers wised up. They saw WTC planning large real estate flips and publishing new non-sensical theories about the generation that was never supposed to die - BUT DID!

Personally, I kept going with enthusiasm, meanwhile my fellow elders were using every trick possible to post more hrs while actually doing nothing.

I think they gave ip on the doctrine but were not prepared to lose their status and their family and their friends.

A MS in our former cong raped the 12 yr old daughter of a friend. She was terrified and did not scream while he raped and threatened to kill her and her family. He was DF'd and she was reproved because she did not scream.

My family never offered a word of consolation to her or her family. She left recently when she turned 17. She just said "no more".

The cong knew what happened but no one cared. It was never reported. He is not reinstated but does not care. Who knows what else he is doing? The statute ran out so there is no recourse. JW's don't seem bothered at all. She did not scream.

I don't know what to call that other than callous indifference. Should I go on with more accounts or are you thoroughly disgusted by now?

The AMD (Advanced Medical Directive) is a ticking time bomb for WTC. Since they print it and provide direction for compliant use, they take on liability for future litigation from disgruntled family members who will charge that WTC coerced their loved one to refuse life-saving medical treatment.

That is why DF'd and inactive ones are not given the card - they can only craft their own using the same wording. WTC knows that DF'd persons are more likely to sue when things go wrong. This tells me that they are well aware that the AMD could bite them hard in the future. I am surprised that they still print and distribute it given the risk.

Cost of living crisis

during the height of the pandemic all elders had to report to the co anyone who was struggling with bills or who couldn’t pay the rent.

the co reported it to the branch.. i don’t know what happens next.

do the branch help at all?

Vidiot - Barbara is right, but there were relief efforts in the distant past that included limited Watchtower funds. Now there are NONE - NADA - ZILCH. Their tight-fisted approach and obsession with getting all the money of the congs into their accounts is certainly unprecedented. The great money grab over the last 10 years puzzles even members of mainstream Christendom.

I hear some say they are expecting more KHs to be built..... With what? WTC has all the money that congs saved hoping for a nicer KH. Also any land they bought has been liquidated and the proceeds sent to WTC.

Now WTC pilots a plan to pay the bills for the cong in non-US countries. I don't think the average publisher understands that this puts WTC in the drivers seat for turning off utilities if the cong falls below expected contribution levels. Personally, I think they will discard the plan as it will result in a decrease in donations as publishers assume thsat WTC is paying - not taking control - and stop contributing. It is a human tendency - just ask the ones who lived under Soviet oppression.

I can point to more than 10 ways that WTC has spiraled since Russell, and most have occurred in recent years.

Vidiot - my own family members were indifferent. I tried to put it into context with some pointed questions, but they simply don't have the compassion necessary to feel the pain that would be expected by learning the children have been molested. Other JW's I have talked to also seemed disinterested in the plight of victimized children. Many seemed to think that the children should pray more and get over it.

I am sure that some find it terribly disturbing, but they quickly leave the organization.

it seems the watchtower are ploughing ahead with bigger and better film studios but come on, they really have no idea.. how come all the people in times past look like healthy, middle class americans/ europeans/australians in costume?

get real.

even a visit to rural india today would give a hint of how people probably lived back then.

Similar to the modern day videos they produce. PIMIs live in nice homes and don't seem to have any anxiety about making a living (on janitorial pay). They don't seem to be on anti-depressants (65% are in reality by some estimates) or self-medicating with alcohol (heavy drinking and alcoholism is off the charts among elder bodies).

They look so happy, but in reality, most congs are plaqued with dissension, fighting, soft and hard shunning, hidden CSA and more.

JW's cannot be honest as they redact their own history. Now they are trying to redact the misery of those living in Bible times.
