Again, More confusion about the direction of the Watchtower Society
by Truth and Justice inhi friends, i have not been on this board in awhile, and i would like to get some thoughts from some of you.
i have noticed a change within my 4 siblings in approximately the last year and a half to 2 years regarding their communication with my mother and i. they have either phoned us, texted, emailed, or written a letter or card to us.
the conversation has been good, and on any topic that comes to mind.

I abruptly faded and my family began shunning me as soon as they confirmed that I was not going to return. How did it affect me?
I am happy now! Even if they tried to rekindle a relationship, I would not allow it. Shunning me is a gift as far as I am concerned. Their is no room for their toxicity in my life.

Radical shake up
by Mikejw inimagine if all the governing body resigned and a new set of brothers came in and said we are very very sorry for all those who have been disfellowshipped and disassociated over the years.
we know many mistakes have been made.
we are really genuinely sorry to all those who have been hurt and especially those who have died and been hurt by these mistakes.

I knew a fella who was never religious. One day he was in an accident and lost 3/4 of his brain. When he woke up, he had a strong craving to become a JW. Imagine that!
Maybe softening/apologizing would work? I’m not one to criticize 😎

Just had a thought…
by Vidiot ini been reading quite a few experiences on reddit lately, and their seems to be a common theme coming up….
…dialed-up-to-eleven shunning of xjws by their witness relatives.. it reminds me of back in the day, listening to some of the over-the-top vitriol displayed by hard-core loyalists when the topic of evolution or apostates came up….
…i was gobsmacked when i finally realized these guys weren’t offended and indignant because they thought it was lies….

Simon - the less I talk to them - the more they shun me.
I have come to understand that they know I think they are no longer relevant, as well as their teachings.
What they fail to understand is that shunning me is a gift.🎁

How do JWs know that less than 150,000 Christians existed before the 20th Century?
by Vanderhoven7 inaccording to watchtower, only anointed christians existed between the first and 20th centuries.
the great crowd of other sheep only began forming after the 20th century started.. how do they support this conclusion?

Vanderhoven - you are making too much sense to be right.
Let’s simplify this: The number of genuine anointed ones between Pentecost 33 CE and 1919 is 144,000 minus the number of genuine anointed JWs who turned in time slips between 1919 and the end of this wicked system which is coming very very very very soon now.
Also, JWs don’t have to judge as long as they can add and subtract.
I hope that helps. It’s much easier when you see things through the Rosie colored glasses of a JW.

At the rate they are reducing, soon the WTC press will be a $149 Epson Desktop Inkjet printer.

Has WTC paid into the scheme for victims? Or are they still obfuscating?

Ted was on the list. He had a lifelong hatred for another GB member who was responsible for kicking him out of the Australian branch many years prior for his transgression.
Their animosity for one another was thick whenever they were together in public as I recall. I learned why later. Surprisingly many others knew.
Now we even know what Ted did. It just proves that Bethel can never keep a secret forever, except from the police.

Governing Body Culpability
by NotFormer ini've seen people say something along the lines that the authorities would like to/have been trying to subpoena (members of) the gb (in csa cases).
my question is: why don't they?
if the gb are issuing orders to cover up evidence in csa cases, and otherwise interfere in justice being served in those cases, then they are accessories before (and after) the fact, and theoretically can be arrested and charged as such.
-
ThomasMore
Notformer - so far the legal system has been reticent to take on WTC over CSA interference.
The current climate could change but it has to be a grass roots movement, not a flash in the pan “woke” moment. Protecting children requires fortitude that the current state of politics lacks entirely.

Attorney Irwin Zalkin explains the article, Pa. courts weigh whether JW's elders must report confessed child abuse
by AndersonsInfo inthe pennsylvania supreme court memorandum opinion that i posted on this discussion board yesterday was confusing enough for me to ask attorney irwin zalkin to explain the issues.
he promptly replied and gave me permission to post here the following important information that he provided.. "the pennsylvania supreme court memorandum opinion raises the question of whether jehovah’s witnesses (“jw’s”) elders, who are volunteer clergy, fall under an exception to the mandatory reporting law of the state of pennsylvania.
jw’s members of the ivy hill congregation of jw’s sued the pa department of human services (dhs) and asked the court to issue a judgment that as a matter of law makes jw’s elders exempt from pa’s mandatory reporting of known or suspected child abuse, including child sexual abuse.

CSA is not like any other sin/crime.
WTC policy implies that they are authorized and are qualified to asses the danger that a pedophile is to the community.
Example: I could purchase an official looking police badge, but I would be in trouble if I misrepresented myself as an officer in the community. If I “arrested a person” and took them back to a holding cell in my home, I would be compounding the impersonation.
Recently some Chinese agents in California did as much in a community. They were shut down when discovered.
WTC and local elders are not authorized to investigate crimes of CSA, and certainly are overstepping when they decide that a perpetrator represents no threat to others in the community. That right is reserved for law enforcement and the courts. There are no exceptions.
In effect, WTC and local elders are running a shadow organization of law enforcement… and doing a terrible job.
