I believe that Jehovah gave us the gift of everlasting life through his son Jesus, this gift is something no man or religion can give.

But we know that the Son of God has come, and he has given us intellectual capacity that we may gain the knowledge of the true one. And we are in union with the true one, by means of his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and life everlasting. 1 John 5:20

We cannot earn something that Jehovah has given freely through his Son.

I become tired at times too because of all the meetings and duties. It sounds like you need a bit of a break also.

Yes, my family and I had a great day. We even visited an old friend and his family we have not seen for awhile. We had a few beers and stayed for a barbaque and went swimming in his pool. The kids had a blast. My wife was even a little more affectionate than usual if you know what I mean. ;-)

It's funny you used the term pushing magazines. One of the elders in my congregation used that same term this Sunday at the meeting. I was a bit surprised. He is the only one that really backed my decision to stop pioneering and spend more time with my family. Three of the other elders I spoke with seemed dissapointed.

I bet you have one monster vet bill.

or an apostate..hate that term..i walked away from it, i dont believe any of it anymore.

so who is going to be the first to tell me to leave so as not to taint the board?.

i am 48 female married 30 yrs to same man, very moral, no drugs no alcohol no smokes..just common plain jane here..since i dont believe does this make me bad association..if it does i laugh in your face...now having said that and getting past this, sounds like so many here are disgruntled..if so why do you stay?

I do not want you to leave. I am a Jehovah's Witness and understand what you are saying. Maybe it is the way that the questions are asked that puts one in the light of bad association. I am not saying you were rude or haughty in the way you asked whatever questions you asked.

I would really be interested in the questions you asked, and the replies you got. If I can, I would try to answer them.

Going out in service can be a blessing if done with balance as far as putting priorities first. I myself have to admit I neglected my family for not putting them first when it came to service. I pioneered 4 years.

I hope you post again and add a few of those questions you asked.

Hi Frenchy,

Those are very good and thought provoking questions you posted. I was just qouting a few articles the WT has to say about this subject about understanding the Bible.

I myself think the Watcthtower jumped the gun a bit with such statements. It is Jehovah's Spirit that guides our understanding of his word, not religious interpretation or opinions. It is because of differing religious interpretation of Scripture that we have so many religions today. It seems that everyone has an opinion on what the Bible says to fit their needs or doctrines.

Thank you for your input, I enjoy reading your posts.

I will quote the Watchtower on this.

The Bible should be our primary textbook for study. WT 4/15/1971 p.230

I believe Gods spirit directs our understanding of the bible.

As Jehovah's Witnesses we should ask for such guidance. The organization has helped me to see things in a new light that I was missing without the help of the Watchtower and its publications.

The Watchtower 4/1/1986 says: Association with Jehovah's Witnesses requires accepting the teachings of the Bible, including scriptural beliefs that are unique to Jehovah's Witnesses.

The 1983 YEARBOOK page 21 states that an individual must have The Watchtower to understand the Bible.

The Watchtower has helped me with understanding the Bible. This is not to say that God can show us things from the Bible without the help of the Watchtower. Jehovah does not need us, we need him.

Tommorrow is Saturday and I am spending the whole day with my family. I am taking them to the park and visit some relatives. I have not missed Saturday service in two years from what I remember. I know even though I am with my family, I will still feel an empty feeling from not going out in service. I feel as if I am not doing the right thing some how. I hope this feeling goes away and I can enjoy my family with out the guilt of missing a day of service.

Ozzygal,

I have never really looked at it that way, a statistic. I was trying so hard I thought, to what what is right in Jehovahs eyes that I failed to see what Jehovah was showing me. My family, I truly have neglected in many ways. Even though I was there physically, mentally and emotionally I was not.

My wife needed help at times when I was out in service. I would come home at times so tired that I would not even pay attention to my kids. I was trying so hard to get the number of hours I needed to be a good pioneer for Jehovah. It seems the only time I actually spend time with the kids is at the meetings and studying for the next meeting.
My wife helped the kids with all the school homework as well as taking them to an occasional show or the zoo or a ball game. I feel like crying right now as I type this.

I am so happy to have met all of you.

I sat with my family tonight and talked for over two hours. I have not done this for, I can't remember when. We have decided that I will stop pioneering for now. I feel so guilty though. It seems a way of life for me.

Thank you for your reply. I to feel as if in a way I am a failure for not continueing to pioneer, but I also feel I am failing my family which is most important.

You all have given me strength in this decision.

I have pioneered for over four years. I have three children and a wife who at times has severe back problems. I have worked two Jobs just to stay ahead of the bills and provide for my family. My wife is a great mother and does a fantastic Job taking care of our home. She goes to the meetings at times but refuses to go door to door. I usually am the one to take the kids to the meetings and out in the field ministry.

I have gotten to the point of burn out and badly need a rest. I am thinking of quiting pioneering and have told the elders. I was disapointed somewhat by the response of three of the elders. They seem to think that I should continue pioneering and qiut one of my jobs. I can not provide for my family on the one job. My wife takes care of a few kids in our neighborhood at times to make some extra money, but I do not want her to take on full time work as of yet because of our kids being so young and I think as she does, still need their mother at home.

I am looking for some advice from you brothers and sisters.

This is my first time posting on this site and I am very new to the internet. I am not sure I should even be asking this question here for fear of not taking the counsel of the elders in my congregation. Please help me with this.

I do not want to stop pioneering but because of the limited time with my family, it is really taking its toll on my wife and I feel I am neglecting my kids somewhat.
