  What should I do?

  i have pioneered for over four years.

  i have three children and a wife who at times has severe back problems.

  i have worked two jobs just to stay ahead of the bills and provide for my family.

  It has gone beyond slaps. My wife has encouraged the sister to get help from the authorities, she so far has refused. She says that Jehovah will help her and her husband with this situation.

  I think it is only a matter of time before she does seek outside help other than the congregation. My wife as far as I know is the only one that she has talked to about the abuse. The sister has not even told the elders everything for fear of it getting out beyond the elders themselves. You know how rumors spread.

  I do not look at this Jerk as a brother anymore. I think what he needs is a good a..kicking.

  My Bible Study

  OOPPPS! Don't know how I did that.

  Any way, JD is 26 volumes of books that have collections of talks by early LDS church leaders and what they taught and talked about at conventions and so forth. My study said that this doctrine was reversed by a recent president Spencer Kimball and labeled the Adam-God doctrine as false teaching.

  The more I talk with him, the more I can see that the Mormon church (LDS) is a study of continuing, conflicting, contradicting revelation.

  I got a good laugh when he was explaaining how Brigham Young taught that six foot moon dwellers dressed like quakers resided on the moon and the sun. He said Joseph Smith (founder and first prophet) started this nonesense. THis was also in JD Volume 13. I can't believe anyone would fall for such nonsense.

  I have two Bible studies at present. One of these is an XMormon. He has been out of the LDS for over a year now. I have been studying with him for four months now. He refused to study out of any of the WT pubications. He said he would study only on the conditions that we use the Bible alone without any aids. To tell you the truth, it has been the best Bible study I have had in my 7 years as a Witness. I usually develope a topic and we study about it. Many times he wants to talk about things he has had problems understanding. These studies take up to two hours at times. I have noticed that when I do take another from my congregation to these studies, they always have a great time.

  Tonight we talked a bit about what the Mormon church taught. I was surprised to learn that the LDS church looked at his tax returns each year so as to make sure he was paying the 10% tithe the church requires. We were on the subject of Michael the Archangel and he said that Brigham Young the second prophet of the LDS church taught that Adam was God. Young taught that Adam was Michael the Archangel, the Ancient of Days. He said this could be found in Journal of Discourses, volume 1, pp 50-51. JD is a 26 volume set

  Welcome, I see you are new. I hope you stick around and get to know everyone. I am fairly new myself to this site.

  I have cut back to about 6 hours a week. This includes two Bible Studies. I promised my wife that once a month I am not going door to door on Saturday or Sunday. That is family weekend. We might even miss a meeting on Sunday occasionally and sleep in. I need the rest and so does my wife.
  Cutting back has helped me focus more on the family and their needs as well as mine.

  ' years ago you could prance up to the platform, stand behind the mic, and declare, 'brother parrish has been disfellowshipped' and no one would talk to me.

  but those days are over my 'friends,' because there are many who talk to me anyway in spite of what you've said.

  I will check out your site. We as witnesses should not be afraid of anything if we have the truth. I know the WT has made some mistakes. So has all religion.

  BTW, welcome to Simons board. You may be surprised that there are some thinking people on this site.

  I think the WT may have read your work. The mention of 1914 is becoming more and more of an imbarrasement when confronted at the door to door work. We should not get caught up teaching dates that are not confirmed by the Bible or history. I think the WT has learned it's lesson, I hope.

  If translators are in disagreement on how these verses we are talking about should be translated, whom are we to belive has the accurate translation. Is it that we choose to believe one thing over another. How do we know our NWT Bible is accurate? For instance, I have not seen any Bible other than the NWT that inserts the word [other] when speaking of Christ in Colossians 1:16-20

  Can you tell me what [other] things Christ created apart from Jehovah?

  I reread my post and should have said that the sister IS in an abusive relationship, not was. The abuse continues. To tell you the truth, I think her husband is a jerk.
